Any other suggestions?
Chinesium pricing: Streamlight ProTac railmount. They are the one to get. I still won't trust inforce after they released a bunch of early lights with parasitic drain. I hear the newer ones are better. But, streamlight has been making pretty solid well priced flashlights for a long time and their rail mount lights for quite awhile as well

Initially I was leaning towards Streamlight, I do already have 4-5 of their lights.

from my research here, FEDERAL HST 9MM 147 GR or 124 GR is what I should be getting for my conceal ammo

need some range ammo tho as well, sounds like people just say to buy the cheapest. I have a glock 19. I suppose ill go on ammoseek and just buy the cheapest chit possible with the best review ratio

I've been an AAC hoor lately. Palmetto has been pushing those like crazy, 9mm as low as .25 cpr, 5.56 .40cpr. They had 45acp at .40cpr a while back, but they got up to like .52 cpr. Their shipping is very reasonable as well.

For range handgun defensive practice I'd use the cheapest available that is new production from a major manufacturer. No reloads/remanufacturered, and no "who is that?" fly by night newbie crap that's too cheap to believe. Steel case fine for Glock BTW

Oh, and no winchester their ammo is sht

There was a time that was $18.39 (50 round box of 9mm HST) from Target Sports, free shipping. Just checked my order history to confirm

I also paid $13.79/50 for .40 180 GR Federal HST

But this was spring of 2018 so…it's been 5 years

CCI, Speer, Federal, PMC, PPU, S&B, Magtech, ADI and possibly AAC is just about the only brands I'd recommend to anyone.

Winchester, Browning and Remington are all made by the same conglomerate.

Add:
IMI
PPU/Prvi Partizan
Magtech may also show up as CBC
Fiocchi
Black Hills / Underwood / Buffalo Bore for specific things

(range/training ammo, cheapest from any of these will be fine)

(some of these have super awesome higher end ammo too, depending)

I mostly try to get the ATK brands…Federal, CCI, Speer if they have something applicable

IMI for middle grade semi bulk. Razor Core SMK rifle ammo or pretty solid M193 etc

And

I can't bring myself to buy any made at Lake City especially with Winchester on the box…which sucks because it's still some of the hottest 5.56 out there like it has been forever.

Fortunately for 5.56x45, 9x19, and 7.62x51 there are a ton of manufacturers to choose from since the democrats haven't yet wholesale banned ammo imports and they are NATO rounds.

But the regulars in here, if any remain, can attest that I've been beating the drum of "winchester sucks dont' buy their trash" for many years. Been that way for awhile. Top to bottom, rifle pistol rimfire, all of it, it's just their company standards altogether are sht their customer service is sht they ignore you when you send them lot numbers and pics and mic measurements of out of spec ammo they DGAF so fuk them

Can confirm on the rimfire. I don't buy much factory ammo outside of rimfire, but the Winchester 22 ammo I've shot was about the worst I've seen.

Brozef got me thinking though. Lake City always used to have a solid reputation for brass quality. Around 8 or 10 years ago I stumbled upon a pile of it at the shooting range and so I picked it up for use as once fired brass for reloading. Since then, I've pretty much exclusively shot Lake City brass in 5.56, picking it up when I've come across it. I knew lake city switched over to winchester in 2020, but this is the first time it's occurred to me that brass quality may have changed. I guess I need to look into that. For what it's worth, I shot some great groups with brass I picked up in July. No idea when it was manufactured though.

Lake City M193/M855 has been far and wide the most reliable and consistent 5.56 that I’ve gone through in over a decade. Especially M855, which has been finicky with so many brands. M193 is generally consistent.

It’s the only brand that reliably shoots in every one of my rifles no matter what.

At the time, ammo prices were sub-basement.

To reference the long timers here, they'll remember, I was Relentless about BUY AMMO at that time. Fuk the scopes and the optics and the 8th guns and 70th magazine, buy ammo

Those were the days. It was just a good sale

SDI and New Republic are two I’ll never use again

I’ve had a few failures with PP, Fiocchi, PMC, Aguila and some others but nothing major. Would still use all of them.

The only 2 brands that I’ve never had a failure with is Lake City and Siberian 7.62x39.
