Harold Landry with a strip sack today. That guy is gonna haunt us.
Just have to hope that McGlinchey turns into a dominant OT and Pettis ends up being a #1 WR in this offense and we find our edge rusher next year.

This may be the week the #49ers pass rush gets going. Arizona’s OL has the lowest pass blocking grade and pass block efficiency rating as a unit in the NFL.

Great news is this draft is shaping up to have several great options in the first round at rusher and also some guys who may hit free agency.
I think we end up double dipping in FA and early in the draft. I don't have a favorite yet but Nick Bosa, Clelin Ferrell, Montez Sweat, Brian Burns, Josh Allen(the other one) and Jachai Polite are all potential first rounders.

Breida isn’t built for every down work. We knew this…sucks. He was having a great year.

Well this is great. I hope the team goes all out and spends some money next year. We need some key players on both sides. It is just sad… only a few players I am excited about. Kittle, Wagner, foster and that is really it.
Buckner hasn’t really done much but then again no one on defense has done anything.

What a weird game. Other than the 1st play the defense played really well. Offense played ok considering all the injuries but turnovers was the difference maker.
It sucks to lose and lose to a crappy team.

Best case scenario…we end up with a top three pick and a qb hungry team wants to trade. This is after we purchase a FA pass rusher of course

Garçon

Colbert
All been extremely disappointing. Even Foster has been disappointing.
After the season we need to cut Garçon, Morris, Ward and Malcolm Smith.
We need to add a TON of talent. Get rid of all the receivers except Goodwin, Taylor and Pettis. And those guys should be 3-5 on the roster. We need a #1 and #2. We need new pieces all over the secondary. And for the love of God we need a pass rush. Go all in on pass rushers next season. Sign Brandon Graham and draft someone in the top 10.

There are some encouraging signs in these losses but that is no excuse to lose. We dominated the Cards yesterday in every statistical category but turnovers which loss us the game.
I keep telling myself how would any team look if they lost their #1 QB, #1RB and #2RB, and WR

To say that was tough to watch is an under statement.
I will say that after losing Jimmy for the year it just made it easier to see stuff like that.
Here are my biggest concerns.
1. Defensive coaching - I don't know if it's Saleh or a combination of several coaches but our young players on D have regressed big time or haven't made the jump you'd expect to see after some encouraging things last year. Also seeing a guy like Eli Harold go to the Lions and start flashing moves he never showed here. I hope we make a change at DC this offseason and bring in someone who has a lot more experience. Nothing against Saleh but I just don't understand how there could be so many communication breakdowns when we have nearly the same team minus Dontae Johnson and replaced with Richard friggin Sherman who knows this D probably better than Saleh.
2. Pass rush - Really this should be #1 but at least I understand why there is so little pass rush, we don't have the guys who really do it well at least from the outside and the coaching decisions are very puzzling especially with Thomas. My patience for him is growing thin and it's not looking great for him as #3 overall pick but the decision to play him at Leo, eat at his snaps in favor of Armstead just drives me crazy. He's not finishing plays or flashing as much and that's on him but clearly as athletic as he is he doesn't have the bend/ability to rush from the outside….yet we're playing him on the outside way too much and not letting him get enough reps inside as a pass rusher where he's at his best. My biggest hope is we find a proper Leo/Rusher or two this offseason and move Thomas to where he belong so he can salvage his career before it's too late.
3. Injuries - I understand sometimes these can't be helped but it's still super frustrating. Our guys manned up yesterday to play but we were dangerously close to missing our starters at QB, RB, WR, LT, RT and C on offense in the game yesterday. The Offensive linemen were able to play through their injuries but anytime you lose a franchise QB and a key WR like Goodwin who does so much for your scheme it hurts. On defense we're playing banged up so I don't know if some of the regression in players is based on that but it can't be helping. Really hoping we find some good luck on that front next year.
4. Mental errors - I hate bitching about these just because they happen to every team. Even the Pats who have this "culture" have games where penalties are thrown like crazy, they miss tackles left and right and guys drop balls. But it's been happening so much this year and top of the things above it just escalates the chit show. I know we're up there in missed tackles, i'm pretty sure we're up there in penalties and drops as well. That's not a way to win games regardless of your talent level. It has to be cleaned up. Maybe the missed tackles are part of #1 issue or maybe it's part of the new rules. Still I'd expect better from the guys we have.
In the offseason we have to go HEAVY on pass rush.
I'm talking signing Dante Fowler or Brandon Graham in FA and then doubling down and drafting one of the elite passrushers in the first round. If we somehow ignore the position this year then heads will need to roll.
I think we also need to throw money at Earl Thomas. Richard Sherman has been a big help in the locker room/scheme wise. Earl Thomas will double down on that and he's someone who can still play and gives us exactly what we need. Let Colbert and Tartt battle it out for the SS spot. I still think Witherspoon can turn back into a quality player with proper pass rush in front of him and someone like Earl playing FS in this scheme.
I still don't think we wind up with #1 overall but if we do Nick Bosa has to be the pick or hope that someone wants to pay BIG to move up for a QB. Bosa is exactly what we need but if we end up with that pick moving down for a big haul while still being able to land Ferrell, Burns, Polite or Sweat would be terrific as well. If say Oakland wants to move up for Bosa…I'll take their picks and hope we can land Greedy Williams and Brian Burns/Jachai Polite/Montez Sweat

Same old story, a couple key injuries during the game, no QB pressure, drops, missed tackles, and a winnable game ending up a loss. Nothing new to see with this team. What a joke.

@Mr_KevinJones
Some positive 49ers developments on the field
-George Kittle is on pace for 1,275 yards. Pro Bowler
-Fred Warner is tied for 5th in tackles (46). Great start
-Richard Sherman has allowed 1 catch on 8 targets. Filthy
-SF's D is actually tied for 5th in Yards Per Play (5.3)
12:40 PM - Oct 9, 2018
That still doesn't make me feel any better. Still way to many issues; pass rush, secondary not great (other than sherman), and offense is not very good.

Numerous other drops from our WR and TE all over, no RB with Breida going out both games and Shanny ignoring Breida against LA. He may have gotten stripped twice last game but I do not think he has thrown a pick that was just absolutely his fault, maybe one if I'm not remembering right or something. He isn't flashy and yes he needs work but that is expected from a 2nd year mid draft pick, but he is the least of our problems currently, and I'd say one of our best young players, especially considering the position he plays, and has been put in.

It may not seem like it but the oline is actually playing pretty well, espically in the running game. I can't blame them all for the crappy pass offense. We cna blame both QB's for holding the ball to long, injuries, people not getting open, and a lot of drops. I believe PFF has them in the top 10 as of now.

How is that not possible and how does this not make us a legit contender?
Bosa - Buckner - Thomas - Graham
With Foster and Warner behind them and Sherman shutting down his side of the field. With that defensive line we can live with a slacking Witherspoon and Colbert.
On offense we get Jimmy G back and add McKinnon, Tate and Johnson.
Make it happen.

But seriously….we would be fools to go into a season with Mckinnon/Breida combo. No thanks.
And yea…crazy to think the offensive line has been a strong spot. I was surprised when I saw that article

All I can say is that I hope tonight is not another blow out. For whatever reason we brought up a new TE from the practice squad. Not sure that means atm… As of now it looks like Breida is good to go. Hopefully he runs a train on the packers D!
