It didn't make a lot of sense before legalization began catching on but the whole thing definitely needs to be reworked now, people shouldn't be deterred when they use in their spare time and aren't inebriated while working

I was joking about the blunts lol.

There is just no accurate test currently to test on the spot for THC. I manage and administer our DOT and non-DOT drug and alcohol tests. I personally have no problem with the average smoker that does it on their own time, I even do occasionally. But for safety sensitive positions we as an employer have to have a 0 tolerance policy for the liability and insurance purposes. Fine with office and non safety sensitive positions though.

Alcohol the night before is FAR worse, yet it's perfectly okay. Drives me crazy. We have more heat exhaustion cases from people being hungover on the job than I would ever worry about smoking bud.

Crazy, kinda goes to show companies can afford to pay more, but don't for that profit margin. I'm pro business but when your profits come at the expense of the employees wages…
It depends on the business model. I lost money for 2 years and am finally turning profit month over month in my restaurant. I charge customers much much more then any other restaurant in my city. But I also import wild mushrooms, copper river salmon, a5 wagyu, foie gras etc… which no one else does.

I have a very high standard for the quality of ingredients and my price reflects it. I started closing Sunday’s and eventually moved to closing Monday’s as well. Lost 6-10 people from payroll. Gave everyone substantial raises but now my margins work out for profit finally. But it was at the cost of 6-10 people no longer having a job. And me cutting back hours open substantially which many businesses might avoid and overwork people instead.

People might say “see companies can afford paying workers more”. But the trade off may be less people get jobs, cheaper products get sold, or customers pay much more. Firing people is the least scary adjustment too be made and most likely the first step a business will take. It can cause employees to start to be overworked.

To combat this some people like me may simplify and make the amount of product available less. I removed lots of menu items. How many businesses will go that route instead of relying on bullying and forcing workers to work harder and become more resentful / angry? Removing and changing items is scary and could result in business going under. Raising prices and putting burden on customers is scary.

I see most businesses creating worse working conditions, having less jobs available, and using cheaper products to deal with raising wages, and then when higher prices finally set in because everyone’s gonna have to do it eventually… all those higher wages will be meaningless when it comes to total purchasing power.

Idk it’s just not so simple.

Commodities and Finance getting wrecked and tech mooning. Every commodity on tech indicators is strong buy on these but it could dump more the rest of the month. If you time the bottom then you’ll make a chit load

From what Cathie stated, economy is doing rather well and there's been inflow into value stocks, and now there's inflow into tech/growth as well. ARK has been trending upward for a month.

I know it's not always that simple, especially with restaurants, but franchises like McDonald's are definitely different. I'd say most of their COGS are based on contracts for long periods of time. I'm sure the raise in wages will be reflected in the cost to consumers soon enough.

Smart for playing amc. If it squeezes you know there’s going to be halting. Sitting on multiple brokerages with amc shares and cash. Gme also.

I refuse to let myself use margin until I’m back to normal investing. Closed my cash account on RH so they don’t lend out my shares.
