Brace registration, ghost gun regs, "in the business " change.

I had a choice of registering a commonly owned pistol configuration or being a felon, so maybe you should quit while you're behind.

Yeah, anything longer than 10.3 inches. 11.5 should be the shortest you go.

maybe I should get the shortest possible AR that you can get without a NFA bullchit. still researching now cause i learned its a wait to get a MK18 or SBR in general

is this accurate?

"Form 1's come in significantly faster when you're building your own SBR. Did my DD MK18 Pistol project and the Form 1 got approved in under 3 months. I hear the EForm 1's come back even faster though."

Is there a faster/better way? I'm in MI

You should always form 1 an SBR. Almost
No reason to form 4 an AR SBR. If you’re unfamiliar with the differences do some googling and you’ll learn quick.

Best way for an SBR is to form 1 a lower. Mine was approved in 25 days, that seems to be in the quicker end, but it shouldn’t take long to get approved. But use whichever lower you want. Once approved, you now have an SBR and can then put any upper on it, including ones shorter than 16”.

I’d choose the lower I wanted, form 1 it, then pair it with whichever upper you want. 10.3s have significantly reduced performance from 11.5s and up, so 11.5 should be the shortest you go.

That’s a super quick run down of it but should give you a start to go from.

I said earlier don't go shorter than 11.5" !!!

Also, do a Form 1 SBR lower, then buy an upper, much quicker.
Don't do a eForm 4 SBR, takes forever.

I believe one of the main things that changed was to lower the pack around the head. If you are on FB, there is a group they knows everything. These packs have a cult like following and used ones cost basically the same is new. Since the K4 just came out, might be able to find a good deal on a used K3.

If you are looking for a cheaper alternative I did really liked my Gregory 75L Baltoro, those are like $230. Sleeping bag in a drybag strapped extremally at the bottom should save you a lot of room. I'm sure you already were thinking that.

Agreed, 55L pack for a 15 days Oct trip, thats not going to work.

Sounds like a sick trip!!!!!!!
Thank you for the input, i ended up finding a crossfire DG16 on offerup brand new for 275. Its 85l and 6lbs empty which i think is a great middle ground for me

Will the powder from a bullet burn effectively leaving a short barrel (less than 11.5 for example) with a suppressor attached, or would it still be greatly affected in terms of performance?

Never gone shorter than 16", but I plan on around 25 fps loss for each inch of barrel length within reason. In the old days, I used to see people say 50 fps pretty often, but more recently I've seen 20-30 fps per inch cited more frequently. There are lots of tests out there of guys cutting barrels shorter inch by inch. I haven't cut a barrel down, but I have shot over a chronograph plenty and based on that, the 25 fps number seems pretty good. I'm guessing now, but my bet is it would hold up down to 11.5", maybe a bit lower.

I don't really shoot at night so I can't comment on muzzle flash, but perhaps someone else can chime in. From my reloading experience it's pretty clear that barrel length plus the powder type can make a big difference there.

coool so you mean I have effectively 2 weapons in one that can do both "good"?

I was waiting for the suppressed 300 to .45 comparo. kek

bc a 30 cal projectile = a 45 cal
bc an AR efficiency, effectiveness, proficiency and accuracy out to 100yrd = a handheld

you're shooting the 45 in sub and suppressed format though amirite?
