Had my D700s for 7 years and they're still in excellent condition. Knocked one over onto something metal and immediately heard a crack.

On closer inspection it was the LCD protector glass that had cracked.

Never bought one for my D800E because they weren't available at the time but I'm definitely buying one now.

"Giottos Aegis Professional M-C Schott Glass LCD Screen"

Did its job. All that's left is some adhesive residue.

$38 and as you can see it's glass and several layers of coatings which did their job. Definitely worth it when you consider the price of a new LCD plus the time you'll be without your camera.

Giottos Aegis Professional M-C Schott Glass LCD Screen Protector for Nikon D600 / D800 / D800E / D7100

Had that camera for 7 years with the screen protector and today was the first time I needed it. Never liked the crappy Nikon LCD cover. Not paying $3K+ to have that crap on there.

I've dropped a few phones and smashed the screen but I've actually never dropped a camera. It was sitting on a table and I bumped it while reaching for something and it fell backwards. I didn't want to be forking out a few hundred bucks to fix something I rarely use but still want to keep as a backup. The protector bailed me out. Immediately made me realize I need it on the D800.

Finally sold most of my DSLR equipment but still have the 7DMK2, if anyone is interested in that (PM).

Took the plunge this week and bought the Sony A7II and 24-70 f/4 OSS Zeiss Lens. I have a feeling I'm going to want the A7RII soon, but I'd rather have a lens + a body ($2500) then just a body ($3200) and no lens.. haha..

First two pics from the camera this morning. Nothing special…. I just liked the sun glowing on the morning dew.

Went to Buffalo River Park East of Fayetteville AR this weekend for a wedding, went on a few hikes, got some decent photos, need to process them still, got the photo bug again, hoping to be able to do more these next few weekends, scouting some local locations out. Anyone recommend Giant State Park in Southern IL?

Do we have a 500px Misc group yet? Who uploads there? I am going to upload my files this week, would like to follow some misc bros, some of the pictures on there are unbelievable, not sure if any of mine stand out enough to be put up there, but we will see.

Also tried to do some product photography, it's instagram and pictures with a phone were the easiest way to upload, I suppose you can use a camera and transfer the files? I was just testing the app out, and just using it as a way to save my collection digitally, tried to set up a background of wood shavings, laid the axe on top, and supply soft lighting from one side, with like a white box all around it, but maybe my light source was to extreme? I would appreciate any tips, It won't let me copy images, to paste them in here. https://instagram.com/berensaxehouse/

Thanks,
Yeah, 500px, I love it but it makes me feel so inadequate. Especially the Russians. They just come out the poosay with cameras in their hands? They're amazing.

Small rant that's been festering in my brain. I did a shoot for a friend Sunday, and the pictures turned out well enough. So I post them to my ******** photography page, and give her this specific request: please 'share' the pics from my page, that way it will send people back to the page, and also the pics I post from my computer on there are always less compressed than the ones people saved to their phones and upload themselves. She says okay, but she wants to know if there's a way to do that and get them in her "modeling" folder at the same time? No, okay, just do that at a later time, but make sure you share mine like I asked. She uploads them to her Modeling folder and f*cking tags me. To my PERSONAL PAGE! Not my photography page. Piss. So now I basically get no feedback for the pics, because they're all grouped together with other people's work, and all her stupid friends have already liked the damn album. The reach from my photo page is currently sitting at 11. Haha 'likes', man, they're serious business.

Lens is fantastic and tack-feckin'-sharp.

However, you mentioned concert shots - do keep in mind just how much light f/4 allows in. However, cameras have come to the point where bumping up to 1600-3200, even 6400 is basically nothing. I would go for it, I know they're always well priced.

A B&W from the Grand Canyon.

Grand Canyon by llamallama , on Flickr
When you come to think of it, almost all human behaviour and activity is not essentially any different from animal behaviour. The most advanced technologies and craftsmanship bring us, at best, up to the super-chimpanzee level. Actually, the gap between, say, Plato or Nietzsche and the average human is greater than the gap between that chimpanzee and the average human.

the f stop isnt an issue, i shoot with a 17-40 mainly and is killer for me, damn thing is a magic maker but been wanting a distance lens plus the 6d can push the iso much higher without grain which helps me so much

I have had mine for almost two years now and have zero complaints. I've used it for both portraits and nature shooting and am always impressed with the sharpness.

Now, I don't think the f/4 will be great for concert shooting unless you are shooting with ample light. And I mean ample light.

So, back in the spring I entered a photo contest for a regional magazine for fun. I had forgotten all about it until they emailed me a few weeks back that I was a finalist.

I picked up the magazine a couple weeks later and to my surprise it was the category winner!

Looks like I can pack it all up and retire now, being published and all……..lol

Reminds me of my lens accident last summer. Although that lens filter was $130 it beat having to replace the lens. Anyway, its good to hear a success store over those horrible and unfortunate tragic accidents.

Lots of reasons.
* Better dynamic range full frame sensors (Sony builds 40% of all sensors in cameras out today).
* Smaller body.
* Excellent video quality (if you are into this).
* Zeiss lenses.
* Cheaper

What's not to like about it?

i agree, sony's video and night time shooting is legit af, as far as concert shooting ive never seen anyone use a sony to shoot shows, not sure if theyre just not as fast or idk. Id assume they'd slay the concert photography
