Gabbert was pretty bad until his last couple of throws. All in all I like what the team has shown so far tho, on both sides, plus special teams. I think this game looks like a preseason week 1 game, but with that said some positives to take away as a team and on individual basis for plenty of players IMO.

Like what I have seen so far, definitely want to see Kap play tho.

Still waiting for Kap to cut his ****ing hair and shave. He looked terrible on the sidelines, like he had been up all night on a bender. It's not like its the postseason and growing a beard is superstitious. He really irks me with his lack of professionalism.

I know it is preseason but I am actually pretty impressed with what I saw during the game.

Dline- Should be pretty beastly this year
Oline- Much improved and good depth
Secondary- Looks good. Lots of depth and they all played pretty well. There was a few deep passes on them but they were right on there hips. Good coverage but the receiver just made a good catch.
ILB- Bowman is the man. Not sure who will be next to him
OLB- Not sure what to think. Lynch is a beat no question. Brooks needs to step up as well as everyone else
Receivers- Nothing special but then again the passing game sucked
TE- Again nothing special

QB- Nothing impressive…

RB- This is awesome. Hyde will be the starter, but not sure who will be behind him. The running game looks like it could take off this year and I love it!

When was the last time we had 300 yards in the first half? I know is preseason but that looks promising. I do not know what to expect this year as far as a record but I at least think the offense will be improved and we will see point on the board.

Also loved the no huddle on the offense. I think it was like 78 plays during the game. That is crazy… Our defense should be conditioned really well because of practicing against them. One of the announcers made that comment. I thought about it that should be good fro the season. We hear talks about how Kelly's defense is on the field a lot more than every team in the league, but if they are conditioned for it with a good rotation then we have nothing to worry about.

Good summaries guys thanks since i missed the game. So is Chip doing what he has done in college and with Philly in SF. Is it the same hyper speed no rest coaching program?

Still haven't had a chance to watch the game but looking over the box score looks like the Driskel project has to be put on hold. That's ok cuz Tom Brady didn't start his rookie season either huehuehue

My thoughts:

The Good:
-OL played good which was refreshing
-Hyde, Davis, Draughn played well. Davis put in some work compared to last year
-DBs for the most part the starters played well. Osweiler had all day to throw and still couldn't find anyone.

The Bad & Ugly:
- Gabbert, started off ugly but got better. Hopefully just nerves but he didn't separate himself from Kap like I was hoping he would
- Acker, just not a good game for him. I didn't know he was playing safety neither so I'm sure he isn't comfortable
- No WR stood out. I think Anderson and Treggs took a step back IMO as both were getting a lot of hype coming into the game
- Wilhoite, just isn't a starter

Overall pretty happy with the first half. Fun to watch an offense move the ball. Not going to over analyze the first preseason game as that's what the webzone is for

Watching the game now, just about done with the first half.

Obvious observations so far…

Blaine Gabbert - wtf dude? Don't know if he was pressing but it's not like he was missing tough throws down the field. If Gabbert can't make swing passes or checkdown throws, the things that are supposed to be his bread and butter than we're going to have a rough time getting things going through the air. I will say however it's good to see him make the right reads and it definitely shows he's comfortable in the offense but no excuse for that piss poor accuracy.

Jeff Driskel - He at least has an excuse given he's a rookie but clearly he needs work and isn't ready to play this year. Tools are there and he's very athletic and it was good to see him making good reads but whether he was nervous or what not but his accuracy was awful just like Gabberts. 61 yards on the ground is great but we don't need another Kaepernick. Hopefully it was the first game jitters and he's sharper vs Denver. Sucks that Lewis tore his ACL but it should help Driskel get more practice reps.

Running game - definitely the positive of the game. Hyde, needs to hold onto the ball but he looked great running. Draugh looked good, Mike Davis looked great, really impressive game from him and consiering he's on the bubble he needs to put up more tape like that.

OL - Looks way more impressive than last season but that's not saying much. Next week will provide a much better test though. Houston was missing too pretty impressive DL players in Watt and Clowney…Denver has the best pass rush in the league right now so if our guys can hang in with them it will be a much better indicator for the season than holding back Houston backups without the best player in the game on D.

WRs - Incomplete due to QB play

Buckner - reminds me a lot of Aldon Smith with that uniform and length, also reminds me of Armstead as a rookie. Big athletic freak who still doesn't quite know where he should be. No question he's a better pass rusher right now and he should be great when/if we can get teams into obvious passing situations but he needs more time to be comfortable playing the run and being able to diagnose where the play is going. You can see at times he's a bit hesitant similar to how Arik was as a rook. Still that athletic ability and size is something you can't coach and he'll make plays.

Pass rush - Ok, we were getting push and had a few sacks but obviously we're no Denver. Aaron Lynch is obviously getting punished for the suspension(which makes it seem like it wasn't quite too much water situation but whatever) and I wonder how the starters would've looked if Lynch was out there with the big buys. Also I have no idea why he wears the shirt under the uniform makes him look really fat but as long as he's getting to the QB who gives a fuk. The other guys were looking pretty good in the second half as well. I didn't see much from Harold in the first half but Blair stood out in the 2nd half. Tank and Lemonier even made some plays. Need all those guys to step up while Lynch is suspended.

DBs - Tale of two halves but this is the way you want to see it…your starters looking really good. As much as they said Hopkins was torching our guys in practice the game was another story. Full game i'm sure he'd burn us here and there but for the most part our guys played well. Acker in the 2nd half was brutal though, crazy to think he was our starter last year. Reaser definitely passed him at least based on this game.

I might just talk shop with you guys this season.

Camp has gone pretty much as planned. Graham, Rawls and Prosise just hit the field this week and not yet fully participating. The roster is so solidified that there's only a couple starting position battles. SAM LB, 3rd CB as Lane will start outside and move inside in nickel and both Tackles.

They've been shuffling around the offensive line all week. By far the most glaring question mark of this team. They will only have one starter from two years ago and that's Britt who will be playing his third position and keeps moving farther inside.

The team will be deeper than last season at runningback, receivers, defensive line and probably secondary. Two guys that myself and every other Seattle fan expect to make a big leap this season are Tyler Lockett and Frank Clark. But like I mentioned the offensive line is a big question mark.

You're always welcome here bro as is anyone who just wants to talk football or niners specifically.

Shame our teams rivalry was so short lived

I have Graham pegged as a late round steal in FF but that OL is scary, lucky for you guys Wilson is like a greased chicken in the pocket and buys himself a lot of time but what's up with that hype poster with him wearing camo?

So the guys that made that poster made a series of popular posters in the 80s and 90s in that same style. They came out of a long hiatus to make that poster with Wilson as an homage and to raise money for charity.

I kind of like it if you take it for what it is. The thing is sometimes I question Wilson's self awareness. And if he was even on on the irony of how ridiculous it was.

I think the first game I was surprised by the overall level of play. Obviously the OL was a good thing to watch and Mike Davis apparently is not the same person as last year, I remember him being very slow and hesitant last year, looking good which was nice.

We need the QB situation to get settled, and I am hoping Kap gets his arm healthy so we can see him play.

Gonna suck missing Lynch first 4 games but hopefully the other guys can step up, DBs looked good but they will look a lot better if we can get a solid pass rush.

I think Denver will be more of a test but I am already excited for the season and tbh game 1 of preseason already made this season better than last years lol. I was amazed Vance caught a pass and then not only held on, but ran it in for a TD, would love to see more of that.

Has there been any noticeable difference now that Marshawn is gone? That guy took so much pressure off of Wilson and your defense that I wonder how the identity of the offense will change. I know he didn't play much last year and Rawls was a beast but RB's rarely stay healthy all year.

Honestly I think the team and fans are confident in Wilson taking more control of the offense after last season. He will have familiarity with his receivers and it will be his most versatile group of receivers.

I think there was a weird dynamic with Lynch the past couple years. By all accounts he didn't have much of a relationship with the coaching staff. Didn't really keep in contact with the team while he was hurt last year. But when he was on the field he always gave his all for the team. Don't get me wrong I loved watching him run and the franchise owes a lot for what he gave on the field. But it has been the elephant in the room.

If Rawls stays healthy he will produce. But like you said he was injured two separate instances last year. Coincidentally Christine Michael was originally drafted with him replacing Lynch in mind. But he lost all benefit of the doubt over his first couple seasons. Now the coaches have praised him for his maturity and say the light finally turned on. And Prosise is a really interesting option for his versatility out of the backfield.

This will be a important year for Russ. It's the first season he will be the unquestioned focus of the offense and expected to produce and carry the offense at times.

Don't do it.

Torn patellar tendons ruin careers. Worse than ACL injuries. Victor Cruz will never be the same and neither will Graham. Cruz couldn't even get back on the field last year.

BTW as a Seahawks fan I was not happy about you guys bringing in Chip Kelly as a coach. Tomsula just wasn't the guy. Some of the roster moves in Philly and player comments really devalued Chip as a coaching commodity. But I think he's still a really smart, outside the box coach. And I fully expect him to learn from the experiences in Philly and be an even better NFL coach the second time around.

I don't mind chip kelly at all. Some of our fans bitchd when we hired him, but it's also some of the fans that shot me down when I wanted Kubiak here.

I really only saw the first half, I'm hoping that was just rust we saw from Gabbert. Like genus said, at least he was getting the right reads down. Content with the secondary and OL, the DL is pretty young (aside from Brooks) so i'll give them time to gel.

Book is out on Chip Kelly imo. He definitely made mistakes in Philly but the big part of his issues were GM related and he doesn't have the burden of that to deal with now.

His offense is the question mark. There's good and bad with it, unless you speak to Heath Evans in which case it's all bad, hopefully more good will come and Chip will adjust enough to not make us as predictable as some people claimed the Eagles got.

Our defense has to be up to the challenge of being on the field more and hopefully everyone stays healthy and has the stamina to get things done right.

I do like the stuff that Chip is bringing to the team and I think he's a really bright dude who hopefully learned from his stint with the Eagles and changes enough to improve as a HC.

Also side note, looks like we signed Ponder as QB depth. Interesting, he was a bust with the Vikings but I thought he would've been a great pick in 2011, will be interesting to see how he does. He may just be a camp arm at this point but who the heck knows.

lol I remember wanting Ponder back in 2011 or whatever year it was. Wanted him in the 3rd or 4th round and was shocked when the Vikings took him in the first. Not a strong arm but he does have the athletic ability to playin Chips system. Pretty sure he's just a camp arm though.

I fukking hated Ponder on the Vikings because he was such trash but I think he'll be a decent #3 and possible #2 if Kaepernick's arm injury is more serious.

A depth chart of Gabbert, Kaepernick and Ponder is weird to see. Three relatively young guys that never took the next step for various reasons.

kap in 2012 and 2013 was elite. kap was legit a few terrible goalline playcalls away from having the GOAT playoff run. dude had the GOAT playoff game in his first playoff game against the Packers. Kap was just on another level.
