Gotta say the town in Cosmo Canyon is the most beautiful location in the game. You can see it's heavily inspired by Horizon, particularly the city of Meridian. Would have been cool if the NPCs and locations were more interactive and I hope gaming goes more towards that direction as the tech evolves. Sux the game doesn't have the graphics of Horizon either, still lots of pop in and lower textures. I'd have loved to see Cosmo Canyon made by the Horizon team.

Anyways finally completed Glide de chocobo (dumbest mini game) and did a bunch of world activities. I really dislike this map as well with all the flying around to figure out where to go. World activities are beyond a drag now and you have to do them for the xp/best items.

Was unbelievably hyped for this game, but wow, this has been the biggest let down I have ever experienced.

This game is a complete fkn chore. It feels like a 9-5 job. I hate it. I hate everything about it.

Never in the history has mini games completely ruined a fkn game. A whole game.

This game has made me hate both open world and RPGs at the same time. I'm 60h in... I'm at Gongaga. I no longer have any urge to play. I dread having to go back in and continue. It feels like nothing has happened so far. Or maybe it has, I just don't fkn know. The game's pace is completely ruined by the endless mini game assaults. I absolutely DREAD any sort of progression in the main story, for fear that the game will yet again force another fkn retarded mini game on me. I hate how 99% of the loot has been dogchit. I hate how there's zero reason for exploration.

FF7 has made me hate videogames and show me how much of a fkn waste of time videogames can be. There's nothing fun here. Just absolute dread.

this game seals it for me, once and for all. I DO NOT WANT OPEN WORLD JRPGs.

There were so man instances of me running around on the world map for what seems like 15-20 minutes at a time, without a single fight. Just endless running from one spot to another, talking to NPC, collecting useless chit, doing a whole lot of busy body nothing.

this meme here has never been more accurate, bro.

I can believe I'm saying this, but I miss random battles and turn based. **** Rebirth and this whole remake saga. Both REmake and REbirth have been 6/10 games.

Its not for everyone, but these are objectively great games. You can see that by the reviews. Most people are happy with what we're getting.

For me, this will easily be my favorite trilogy ever.

Critics can give it whatever score they want.

At this rate, I'm glad we might not even get a part 3, considering how bad Rebirth is selling atm. From Remake to Rebirth to the 3rd game, the sales will only go down exponentially.

We've already lost a ton of people going from Remake to Rebirth, and now Rebirth is souring the fukk outta the series for people like myself, you'll have tons more people who bought Rebirth but will say nah, fukk it, to Reunion.

At this point, I need Square Enix to release an update that patches OUT 95% of the minigames. There's zero fkn reason for absolute dogchit like Cactuar Rush, Queens Blood, Dolphin ball, Chocobo De Glide, moogle collecting, Galactic space invader rip off, Jumpfrog, etc., etc.,.

They should have just kept the fkn classic mini games like Chocobo Racing, Snowboarding, Gbike, and Brawler. That's it. What the fukk were those autistic Japanese boomers thinking? These minislop games and Ubislop towers were sexual death sentences to the game.

The 3rd game is definitely happening, no idea what you're talking about there. What gamers buy is not at all indicative of quality unless you think COD is the best game every year.

Again, your complaints are true for you but the game is GOTY contender. Your personal opinion doesnt change that.

Def agree with the above posters @ the game being a big drag for half the time lol. By Gongaga I was completely tired of doing the world events and mini games. Then went to Cosmo Canyon and despite the beautiful town, the actual map itself was ass with all the gliding to get to places. In fact all the maps overall are not good. Too much difficulty in navigation, too many mountains and cliffs, no cool dynamic events, no people walking around to talk to, no cool new sights to see, it's all the same stuff like life springs, summon caves etc. Very generic and boring open world. Really makes me miss Forbidden West.

Finished the Canyon and then went to the next area only to face-palm in seeing another fuking map with all the world activities yet again to do. Fuking hell. I spent my night just clearing 80% out so I can do the story tomorrow.

The characters and their dynamics, despite lacking depth and maturity really have that charm that keeps me interested as well as the combat progression and music but everything else is a buzzkill and drags the pacing down. The overall story I guess is.... Okay? It's nothing all that good, you're just following the cloaked guys from map to map to hopefully find Sephiroth. The only good thing about the story itself is, again, the characters and their moments together.

Game is def not a 9.1 or whatever it's rated. The fun factor takes a big hit from the open world and mini games. I'm really dreading going back to Golden Saucer to do the mini games on hard.... Fuk me.

T
The open world stuff is optional...... if you're tired of it dont do it. Or...take a break with the game.

I hit that exact point when you get to Nibel after Cosmo and I just took some time off for a bit instead of force feeding myself.

Same with the gold saucer mini games, you dont have to do those.

I swear half the complaints gamers have are of their own doing. Shoving a 100 hour game down their throats instead of pacing themselves.

I'm 100 hours in at chapter 12. Im not done yet. Ive done pretty much everything in the game but i took my time.

What do you mean take my time, I've been playing for weeks. I don't have a ton of time for gaming. It's annoying to have to spend a whole session completing tedious stuff while not even getting any story in. Also this stuff and the mini games aren't optional since the very best items and a ton of XP are locked behind them. Saying they're optional is something only a retarded person would say. Of course I would ignore them if there were no rewards locked behind them.

If gaining XP makes something mandatory, every open world game ever made needs to be 100%ed which is obviously stupid. You dont need max XP to get through the game, so it just makes absolutely no sense. Its optional chit. If you dont want to do it, skip it or like I said take a break until you're refreshed on it. You burned yourself out doing stuff you didnt have to do and blaming the game. retarded.

And what items? You can buy pretty much everything with Gil. I havent gotten any items that are crazy good from the side missions or mini games. I did it all cause I was enjoying it, if I wasnt its easily skippable.

Agreed.

You don't need to have the best equipment to finish the game lol. Such a dumb argument, side content is not necessary. If you don't have the time just skip it if you only want to see the story.

Rebirth is an easy game too.

I play on dynamic and you defintely need xp and unique items to do well. I also plan to do hard mode at some point which would be impossible without high levels and gear. There are definitely unique items that you can't buy locked here. There are also unique items locked behind transmuter chips which you need to find in the open world. To even have access to the chips you need to complete open world chit first before Chadley unlocks the quest.

Again, if this chit was truly optional there would be ZERO rewards locked behind them. You kissing this game's ass so hard is truly comical, bad open world activities and bad mini game design is a legit criticism.

I don't have an issue with open world activities in general, just badly designed ones hidden in a badly designed map. If you're putting this stuff in a game, optional or not, then make them actually interesting or don't make them at all.

Dumb take. If it's not necessary then make the game without them. They obviously put them in the game because they want people to do them. And if that's the case, fine. But make them interesting or fun. You never heard me complain about Witcher 3 or Horizon open world activities, I wonder why.

you're so fukin stupid. Every game nowadays has optional side content, to give players more content IF THEY WANT IT.

Nobody is saying you have to like the open world activities in this game. We are saying, that if you dont like it you dont have to do them.

Most retarded logic I've ever heard

'you're fuking retarded. They obviously still want to give you SOMETHING for doing the things to make it rewarding. Having a bunch of side content you get nothing from would be terrible.

You're arguing for total stupidity. No games does this crap.

You're arguing for total stupidity. No games does this crap.
So it's not truly optional if there are unique things locked behind completing it. Good to know you said it then, that's all I wanted you to admit.

where did I say that? An optional mission with some kind of reward is still optional retard.

If it's truly optional there would be no rewards that help you in battle tied to it. I want those unique combat items so I deal with the annoying world events and minigames to get them.

Kinda question is that. Do you think I played Rebirth without playing Remake first? Which other jrpg has as many minigames and copy pasted open world content as Rebirth?

My point is its not truly optional if it locks unique (the best) items behind it. I like having all the combat options in a game I paid full price for so unfortunately I have to do all the stuff and beat the minigames on max rank. If all the unique stuff were indeed purchasable then I promise I would stop doing all the tedious content at this point. I don't have other options though, I want to play hard mode next and that requires max leveled characters, the best gear+materia combos and so on.

Would love to see you try hard mode if you skipped all the world content lol.

Not sure why you're so angry with Coal and defensive with this game. It is a valid criticism because I'm going through the same motions, I played the game at pace, but by the time I reached cosmo canyon and the map just gave me another massive open world with things to do I groaned out loud.

At that point it's the same old chit you're doing through the motions again. Lets not pretend that the current thought for gaming isnt just padding out the hours with busywork just for the sake of it.

This game could have easily cut down half the busy work and still made it work .... brb go here activate 10 more towers ... take part in 20 more useless fights ... What's the point? unlock the towers just to uncover more boring side activities to make it visible on the map.

Yes these are all optional, but after the initial fun of doign them, having to do it all over again in every single region turns into a chore and you lose that interest. I'm not even rushing the game, I'm taking my time, but passing it off as speedrunning the game and not just bad execution is some strong corpo bootlicking simping.

The busywork is probably why I'd probably never revisit this game again, whereas FF7 even though it has no busywork with sidequests, the linearity of it still makes it quite replayable. Rebirth is easily goty so far, but it still suffers from the current archaic open world thinking into design.

Okay putting it like that you do have a valid point.

Hope square enix finally fixes that flawed game design in the future. But tbh it's something most JRPG's are guilty of
