If you're shooting on 1x, having the ability to remove it is awesome. At 1x magnification, I don't see a scenario where you'd be worried about scope glint anyway, so it's a win-win.

The other option is buying an entire SBR but id need a form 4 with a much longer wait

to me, this is the quickest way to get an SBR. I'm in MI.

That is basically what I did with my mk18.

Bought it as a pistol, form 1'd it and wala.

Cloud world rules: Constructive possesion/intent upon owning a sub 16" upper without a lower you can put it on that results in something other than an SBR.

Just…sayin'…that could potentially be a thing.

But, the way to do that is to buy the stripped/other lower, then submit the form 1 and engrave the lower, and once the stamp comes back, put a stock on the lower and put the short upper on the lower at which point you have constructed a registered SBR

I see… I thought you buy and register the upper first and then buy whatever lower after its released to you from ffl… this chit is confusing and its dumb as hell why we have to do this to begin with. im with people when they say abolish the ATF ded fkn srs….

that pic was just an example, while i was watching this vid below (very good vid by the way) the Irishman at the beginning mentioned 10.3'' so I paused the vid and went to look at some and made that post here. Then continuted vid, about a minute later he said that they all moved to 11.5'' / 14.5'' after there was a bunch of ballistic testing done. just like misc was saying

im looking for 11.5'' most likely for sure, either a KAC upper or DDMK18. But I also would like a smaller carry gun (currently G19 gen4) and im leaning towards getting the p365x macro tacops but not decided to what to buy first.

I always thought this chit was bass akwards. I mean why aren’t you registering the business end (upper). That’s the freakin part we are measuring to consider it an SBR or not. The lower could be attached to anything. Makes no sense. That in a nutshell is the Gov.

You've done zero research then.

You need to register the serialized lower. Uppers are not registered.
However, what ever length you declare on the form 1 you'll always have to have.

My mk18 pistol was registered as a 10.3". Legally I'll always have to possess a 10.3", or nothing.

Nobody @ me about this. I don't care to discuss. Go look it up yourself.

Uppers (for an AR type rifle) are not themselves firearms, are not serialized, and are not registered for anything. The lower receiver of an AR is the firearm

You can write to the ATF to document a configuration change. No additional stamp required. You can also document additional configurations, although that's not required as far as I can tell.

Lots of little things like this. It's impractical to try to cover everything concisely here. People need to do their own research.

Just picked up a Sig Sauer P365X Macro Tacops, das it mane! Will be new carry gun.

Also about to buy a HOLOSUN 507K.. can't decide between green or red but prolly goin red. It'll fit directly onto it. Wanted Trijicon RMR but a lot of ppl say they like the HOLOSUN with the P365.. and there's another mounting plate I need to fit that on and would need to take the rear sight off.

And a Trex sidecar holster

edit… decided to get the HOLOSUN EPS Carry MRS 2 MOA Dot & 32 MOA Circle Reflex Pistol Sight for my P365X macro

Holosun seems to be the best cost effective choice for a pistol. Cheaper ones tend to pack features and don't seem to be as reliable, and anything more expensive doesn't really seem to offer much more value or features.
