At that point it's the same old chit you're doing through the motions again. Lets not pretend that the current thought for gaming isnt just padding out the hours with busywork just for the sake of it.

This game could have easily cut down half the busy work and still made it work .... brb go here activate 10 more towers ... take part in 20 more useless fights ... What's the point? unlock the towers just to uncover more boring side activities to make it visible on the map.

Yes these are all optional, but after the initial fun of doign them, having to do it all over again in every single region turns into a chore and you lose that interest. I'm not even rushing the game, I'm taking my time, but passing it off as speedrunning the game and not just bad execution is some strong corpo bootlicking simping.

The busywork is probably why I'd probably never revisit this game again, whereas FF7 even though it has no busywork with sidequests, the linearity of it still makes it quite replayable. Rebirth is easily goty so far, but it still suffers from the current archaic open world thinking into design.
Get ready for the next area to hit you with the same chit. Then for the story portion you gotta do some box throwing minigame with the worst controls I've ever seen. I want to hook whoever designed that chit square in the jaw. How in God's name did they test these controls and decide it's good enough?

I can't help but think what if the open world maps were smaller and cut the busy work and minigames down considerably. Why do I need a minigame to pick a fuking mushroom or lure a goddamn stupid fuking chicken? And by reducing the number of these things they can add quality. Make the side quests better and make them part of the open world. Cut down the mini games from like 30 to about 8 really fun ones. There, I fixed the game.

And what items? You can buy pretty much everything with Gil. I havent gotten any items that are crazy good from the side missions or mini games. I did it all cause I was enjoying it, if I wasnt its easily skippable.
The only reason I'm doing the Gold Saucer minigames is because they're fun and I like minigames.

Pretty sure you can beat this game with basic items that you can just buy. Hell, there's plenty of open world stuff I haven't done and don't plan to do.

Lemme ask a question, what if all you had were the starting weapons and every other weapon for your team was locked behind the hardest level of the hardest minigames. Would you be cool with that too? Since you can easily beat the game with the starting weapons.

Thoughts on Switch port? I have FF12 & enjoy that. Might get this gem if it’s on par with the original release.

Switch can't run this boyo. Best bet is to wait for steam deck 2 and pc port.

Anyways I'm still not done with Nibel. I'm in Tifa's room now trying to get a perfect score on the final piano song. I'm not mad about it though, it's Aerith's song being played by Tifa. Probs my fave FF7 song being played by the best girl. Gonna get that star tonight.

Thank god you only need A rank for the piano. Don’t know how I got it for the one in Cosmo Canyon.

I got stars for all besides the cosmo canyon one (A) and honestly I'm not even bothering with the last one lol. Felt like Aerith's song and the whole performance thing with Tifa was the best way to close off the piano game.

I really love the music in this game. Spent some time cleaning up Nibel tonight and Odin was definitely the hardest boss in the game so far. Took quite a few tries until I found an easy strat. After that I was happy to see the map open up and new quests available in all the regions. It was cool going back to the grasslands and Junon and just take in the music. Feels almost nostalgic given how long I've been playing the game now. 104 hours in so far.

One of the easier minigames imo lol. There are some minigames where hard mode is insanely difficult. I'm gonna attempt to do all of them in hard mode but I'm scared for a few, namely the boxing minigame. The queens blood tournament thing was really pissing me off so after spending a bunch of time tonight I just searched up the solutions for the last few. Fuk that.

I'm playing on Dynamic but most minigames have a hard mode after passing a certain chapter. And yes they get a good deal harder with rare items behind them lol

How many hrs you clocked in man? I only had a couple hours free time tonight so I just did chocobo races. Got like 4 more to do then the cup. After that I'll check out some more games and get back to the story @ the Golden Saucer to find the temple key.

There is no way that Glide De Chocobo 3 can be done the intended way. Got it a couple of days ago but had to turn around and go back to the lift to make it to the final 2 circles.

First playthrough, I pretty much rushed the story after the first few areas. And ended at 57 hours. I’m at 58 now in cosmo canyon. So much cool character interactions in the side content.

So you did a fair amount of the world activities then?

I had a great session tonight. I'm on that chapter where you return to Golden Saucer. Yesterday I finished the chocobo races and I was nervous to tackle the other minigames on hard tonight but I did great. Finished the space shooter game, Boxing game and bike riding game. Also did most of the Queen's Blood games and battle arena fights. Some were pretty tough but I'm done for now, there's a few missions left but those are locked. Continued with the story and was happy to see Tifa show up again for the second date. Fuark yes, paused right there and will do that date tomorrow. Das it mane, what a productive day.

Yeah queens blood is by far the best minigame. Would have been cool if the saucer games were the only OTHER minigames in FF7 and they had no rewards or trophies behind them.

I will never do another Rebirth world activity in my life and quite frankly there is literally nothing worth exploring in the open world for fun. I'm making sure to do all of that in this run so whenever I do a replay on PS5 pro I will just do the main story and side content. With limited minigames and open world stuff I feel like the adventure would be so much more enjoyable and fun.

Just lol if you think you're done @Cosmo Canyon.

One other comment I have about the game so far is it lacks in a huge world story. Like besides following Sephiroth around there's not many tense epic chit happening in the world.

Example, in Final Fantasy 8 where the enemy army has taken over a town, killed many of its people and fortified inside. You have to coordinate an assault, reach up to a signal tower, there's also a giant machine following you and you're on a time limit to get out. Has you at the edge of your seat. There's also many moments like that in Final Fantasy 10.

Anyway off to my date with Tifa lol.

Well good. I dont want it to end soon anyway after spending like 60 hours on the world map

Yeah i Remember Dollet well. Even Had the FF8 Demo disc with Brave Fencer Musashi. The music when your landing on Dollet in the demo was actually better than the game. Not sure what FF8 has to do with it though. That was a pretty linear game even by FF standards. There wasnt a lot to do when you get the Ragnarock
