Really unsure about the Hurd pick. Boykin or Butler seem like better prospects if you're going for big receivers. Hurd probably would've been available later too. We'll see.

They like Hurd’s versatility. He can play WR, TE or RB. They can move him all over the formation and be unpredictable.
Horny.

Yeah, I see him more as a mismatch weapon rather than a full time WR. He's still got a lot of development to do.

Traded Dakota Watson and I pick for fourth round pick. We grabbed a punter. Don’t know anything about him other than he is a former rugby player.

For a 4th round pick he better be ****ing Ray Guy.

I don’t want to be that guy but day 4 has been super underwhelming. Hope I’m wrong and these guys show up but I’m super confused by the picks. Really wish we’d take Alex Bars with our last pick.

Watching him he just looks like huge, fast guy that should be playing some other sport. I think he’s capable of spectacular moments and great games in the NFL but ultimately I think he’s a bust. Wouldn’t take him even late first round.
Feels good man

Draft pundits fell in love with DK when he clearly was overrated as hell. He could still prove NFL teams wrong but he wasn’t nearly as talented as people thought.

It's clear to me we have a certain though process when it comes to the draft.

I'm still upset we took a punter early in the 4th but seeing the Pats trade UP in the 5th round to draft the next guy made me feel better, especially because they have a pretty good punter under contract already. We lost Pinion.

You know you have an instant starter out of him and hope that the hype meets the field. If he can be like the Seahawks punter last year(All Pro) it will help us win games. Obviously best case scenario he's playing VERY rarely or just kicking the ball off.

I hope Hurd is another guy Kyle hits on. I've learned not to question his picks on offense(when we're not putting Joe Williams back on the draft board)

I think with the 9ers style a play having a good punter is essential. It's not flashy and a lot of times it's a field position battle.

Never had a problem with the punter pick. Most 4th rounders never do sh*t in the NFL. If he’s a good starter for us for 8 years then that’s awesome.

I remember a WR named Jenkins we took in the first round that was god awful. I have no issue with a 4th round punter. It's an underrated no glory position but comes into play every game and can change the outcome. Lets hope this guy pans out!

Yup. If he works out nobody will care. Especially if the guys most of us wanted in the 4th end up not doing squat like is typical. You always wonder why guys drop who were predicted to go much higher but more times than not they drop for a reason.

There are only 3 guys who went either at our original pick in the 4th or after we took Wish(no fukin way am i gonna remember his name) who I REALLY wanted in that 4th round.

Those guys are(in order of my preference)

Chauncey Garnder-Johnson
Deionte Thompson
Amani Hooker

If any or all of them become legit starters at FS then we fuked up. If none of them turn into better players than we have on our roster and Wish is a pro bowl punter for 10+ years then it's a good pick. Obviously I'm hoping all 3 are out of the league within 3 years and Wish is a stud for a long career with us so there's no major buyers remorse.

I'm excited for what this team can be assuming we stay healthy. Obviously that's important to any team but it's pretty clear we have a lot of key players coming off injuries, with injury history to go with the usual - hope we don't suffer serious injuries.

Our secondary was hit hard last year, nothing long term but there was no consistency and guys were playing hurt and with a mediocre pass rush in front of them. I'm not ready to write off guys like Witherspoon and Colbert. I would've liked to bring in better competition for them but it is what it is.

We should definitely have a better pass rush in front of them assuming health once again. Bosa, Buckner, Thomas, Ford can be an elite pass rushing unit. I don't think I've been more excited to see a unit play together than this one in a long time…I really hope the football Gods are kind to us and we see them stay healthy and dominate the way they should be able to do given who is playing next to them.

The WR battle in camp should also be pretty special. I hated the Hurd pick at the time simply because I thought he was a project and I liked other WRs(like Butler ) much more who were still available but the more I look at breakdowns of him and how Kyle talks about him the better I feel about the pick. Someone posted his workout numbers into the calculator which checks measurables and brings up player comps.

https://twitter.com/KBNFLScout/statu...61493974003712

For a RB/WR conversion seeing names like Braylon Edwards and Todd Gurley even remotely in the conversation is very intriguing. His size throws off his TE comps but looking at his frame and knowing he's been up to 240 before he can definitely be our Delanie Walker type.

Next year I see us going in heavy on OL and DBs in the draft. Hopefully this year the guys we have do enough and the new coaching additions help.

This 2 months of no football is gonna be rough. But it has me thinking of next offseason. I think we’ll have much fewer needs going into the 2020 offseason. Obviously anything can happen but just looking at the offense we won’t have to put any significant resources into any position besides the line. Maybe some interior line help depending on how they look this year, and maybe a replacement for Staley. But all the other positions we’re looking young and deep.

And on defense the line could be one of the best in the league. Linebacker group should be decent but might need another player. And then obviously the biggest question mark will be the secondary. I think even if we have some surprising play by Colbert or Witherspoon we’ll still need to be looking for Sherman’s replacement and a true free safety.

Really feels like we can go into 2020 just looking to make our secondary elite in FA and the 1st round. And then grab some lower tier FA’s and mid round players at LB and interior O-line.
Horny.

Nobody is saying Jimmy arrived. But the salt level of going into an official team thread to try to throw shade on him is astronomical.

Atlanta throwing as much draft capital as they can on Matt Ryan knowing that dude needs all the protection he can get or he'll melt in key moments.

According to sources in the team's scouting and coaching staff, the two aren't in lock step as far as the vision of the offseason and the future of the franchise. The coach, Shanahan, wants to scheme and develop players while not being bothered with the player evaluation process, but more and more he finds himself involved while not trusting the decision-making of Lynch—a former media analyst after his Hall of Fame playing days but not someone with a scouting background.
Not gonna freak out yet but Jesus, I don’t want another Baalke/Harbaugh scenario.

It was only a matter of time. Lynch oversteps constantly with information he gives the media, the JG claim Kyle was upset, goes to the sideline, etc. I hope it’s just the typical ego driven males working together, but if it’s not, bye John. Still lol at his introductory press conference he tells everyone how his daughter cried he took the job because the niners were so awful…like the sht bucs are some storied franchise.

I call BS.

Look at all the picks and FA acquisitions. They have Kyle's name all over them.

If there is any animosity between them then it's Lynch having issues with some of the guys Kyle wants.

This is not another Harbaugh/Baalke situation where they were on complete opposite ends of the through process. Maiocco said he hasn't heard any whispers of anything like that so not sure what Miller is pushing here. Not going to worry about it.
