I have a bad feeling we'll never see Jet in a 49ers uniform in a real game but home I'm wrong.

Wait what? I know he had a setback but did you read something saying it's really bad?

No but while the injury severity could be different and certainly the positions call for different movement but Jimmy has been practicing since OTAs and full go for camp. Our RB depth is pretty good…just have a bad vibe that it doesn't give him much time to show he can come back from it and he may get cut.

But like I said, hope I'm wrong.

Either Breida or McKinnon won’t make the team. Breida would be traded obviously but we’re keeping Coleman and Mostert. With Juice we can’t keep 5 backs. And I think Breida is by far the best pure runner of the group, so I’m expecting Jet to get cut.
Horny.

Breida better not go anywhere. That dude balled out last year despite the injuries…needs to stay healthy and he'd be even better.

It seemed like he was always getting banged up last year but apparently it was just that one ankle that kept flaring up. I love that little guy and hope it’s McKinnon we get rid of. The Coleman signing is still weird to me.

I think all of our backs are on the trade market and if a good offer comes in we would ship one. However I could see them keep all 5 because last year we would have needed all of them.

I can't wait til Saturday…sucks that we have the last game in preseason. Of course as always the excitement for the first preseason game is there…then it quickly goes away as you pray all guys stay healthy and you just get to the regular season with your starters ready to roll.

Hell ya! I love preason games. I like watching the guys who really have no chance to make the roster. In reality they are fighting for at most 12 spots that are not taken. Then some of the guys may get picked up by another team or get on a practice squad.

WR and DL cuts are going to be brutal this season.

I legit don't know who makes it at WR or DL

Pettis, Deebo and Hurd imo are locks just due to age/draft position
Goodwin, Taylor, Bourne, James, Matthews are the other guys.
Do we keep 7? Even if we do who is the odd man out? I think we stick with 6 WRs like last year but the most obvious guys to get cut Bourne and James are arguably the best guys in training camp so far. Both are young and cheap. Honestly I wouldn't be that shocked to see Goodwin and Matthews not make it. Goodwin's speed opens things up but the olympics talk, the missed games…and he really hasn't been owning camp like he was last year.

DL is another touch choice.

Kept 9 last year

Locks: Buckner, Bosa, Ford
Probably not going anywhere: Armstead, Thomas, Blair, DJ Jones
The other guys: Taylor, Street, Day, Moore

I feel like one of Armstead, Thomas, Blair or Day get traded before the season to clear a spot. Thomas hasn't stood out as much as I'd hoped in camp so far but he's had moments and hasn't been overwhelmed so I hope we let him play with the other guys inside and not cut that cord. Armstead, Blair and Day are all gone at the end of next year so while they're talented it's not just about that…have to consider who you have long term so keeping Taylor and Street over those guys may make more sense since they're young players who maybe aren't as good now but could be a year or two from now.

DBs will also be tough but mostly depth wise.

We kept 10 guys last year that's including CBs and S

Locks: Sherman, Witherspoon, Verrett, Moore
Probably good: Tartt, Colbert, Williams, Reed, Marcell Harris, Ward
The other guys: Moseley, Exum, Tim Harris, Mabin

At this point you can lock in Trent Taylor. He’s been a stud by all accounts. Seems like his back injury was holding him back last year. He might look even better than he did his rookie season.

And Shanny has been giving Bourne a lot of praise. I think at this point Jordan Matthews is the odd man out for sure. Haven’t heard much from him in TC. Sounds like he’s an older, more expensive Bourne.

And then do we keep James and Goodwin? If James keeps performing well in TC and preseason then Goodwin looks more expendable. With our running backs and carrying a fullback i don’t think we can carry 7 WR’s.

I think in a perfect world they put Hurd on the practice squad. Not sure he’s gonna be suited up come week 1. For having only played receiver for a year and learning two positions in this complex offense, not sure he’s relevant to this team until next season.
Horny.

Perfect world sure but in a real world a 3rd round draft pick with so much ability never makes it to the PS. He'd be scooped up super quick and personally I would lose my chit if we took him in the 3rd round(my least favorite pick given who was available) and to even leave him out there for someone to grab him where you basically threw away a high 3rd round pick would be insanity.

I think the games will help sort **** out of course. If Matthews shows up in the games then it changes everything. He was brought in to be a vet guy and consistent player. The guys showing up in practice need to prove they can bring it during the games against the other team when they know they can actually get lit up unlike in TC.

But I actually think Hurd is doing pretty good considering he couldn't be out there for OTAs and Minicamps. He's still raw but his size can be helpful and he's improving as camp rolls along. No question he's got ways to go but his tape at Baylor was pretty impressive for a guy who was a RB pretty much all of his football career. I didn't like the pick but he is intriguing and his draft status makes him a lock IMO.

Would be awesome if we found another gem in the 5th round. Love hearing him play well. Hope he's that dude. Greenlaw, Warner and Alexander could be a fun set of LBs behind that DL of ours.

Speaking of DL…I wish I was hearing more about Thomas. I've seen blurbs here and there but was really hoping he'd be showing up in TC similar to Buck, Bosa and Ford(when he was out there) I still have faith but would definitely like him to stand out more in team drills but outside of Buckner it seems like the IDL guys have kind of been quiet in team drills. Of course IDL play is sometimes not easy to analyze on who is doing well unless they're blowing up plays in the running game or getting to the QB but a lot of it is holding up blocks/double teams, etc…

Pick it up Sully!

Cuts are going to be brutal and I just hope we find a trade partner to deal a couple d-lineman and one of our WRs. Doubt it happens though because most teams are probably waiting on cuts to fill there roster.

If we do trade I hope we can get an offensive lineman. I think they maybe one of our weakest positions especially depth. Don't really have a good swing tackle.

Man I cant wait to see our d-line in games this year. With Bosa living up to the hype so far in camp, our line should be top 3 if not the best in the league. Ford and Bosa screaming off the edge and Buckner pushing the middle, the opposing QB isn't going to have much time at all. That's potentially 3 pro bowlers if all goes well.
