Definitely not now I expected the game to go but I’ll take the w even ugly.

Penalties wiping out TDs
Penalties pushing us back on offense.
Penalties on BS Pi calls.
Kwon getting ejected.

Jimmy’s pick 6 - can’t do that chit!

The run D in the later part of the game.

Need to fix a lot of that crap for when we play more dangerous teams.

I hope Jimmy is still rusty but I wasn’t a fan of Kyle’s playcalling. If you’re playing Jimmy then let him throw it and shake the rust off. Ironically too cautious on the playcalling imo. Very unlike Kyle.

The two called back TDs to Kittle were ass.

Pass rush wasn’t as good as I was hoping but Bosa looked good even though he’s clearly not 100%. I hate seeing Armstead our there so much. I just don’t get what Saleh sees in him.

Hopefully we fix up the ugly chit and take care of Cincinnati who looked a lot more dangerous than I expected on the road in Seattle.

Pretty nice to see a 14 point win with all the mistakes. Pass rush is definitely a huge factor now, giving the backs more ability to make plays. 3 INTs tonight vs. 2 all season last year? Unreal

Would love to see Jimmy G tighten up that's for sure

So this game was eerily reminiscent of the last two years, the difference being we won after shooting ourselves in the foot so many times. Ugly penalties, bad Jimmy pick 6, and a rusty looking offense (drops, poor OL play). I was waiting for the inevitable tampa bay winner and we managed to pull it out. Pass rush helped a bit but I was even underwhelmed a bit there. I thought the defense did an awesome job forcing turnovers though. Wish we capitalized on the punt block and fumble more.

I'm glad we got out of there relatively healthy other than Coleman which sucks. Need to get him healthy, same with Pettis, Hurd, and Trent Taylor. Glad Gould was just cramps (wish he hit that 57 yarder).

I thought this was a great way to win week 1 tbh. Not nearly convincing but a win. We have a ton to work on and they all know it.

Kwon ejection was stupid but don't even hit with your head and that BS won't happen. Affected the run D heavily I feel and nearly cost us. Along with nearly costing us the penalties (some bad calls) were absolutely dreadful and affected the performance of the team heavily in terms of points.

I expected this version of Jimmy today and also expect him to get better each week, same with the OL. I do agree the first half play calling was ass and needed to see some different stuff. Let's hope they get in their groove as a whole offense, coaching included.

Deebo looked good other than the silly fumble, the WR's performed as expected in my opinion, a bit to be desired there but nothing egregious. Let's hope that they all get healthy and become even more of a threat. The lack of size on the blocking for them is a bit tough sometimes too, but they can get it done I feel.

Defense looked solid, wish Bosa never had the ankle injury (tbh I'd rest him all week of practices or have him practice lightly and just play him until he's hopefully 100% - hell I'd do the same for Ford at this point we NEED those guys more than anyone else on D.

Secondary was actually a surprise, they caught the ball, stuck with receivers, and not too many penalties, a couple though. Saw great coverage mostly and lots of break ups.

Glad we are forcing turnovers, need to keep that up for sure. I think the win is a big positive and lots to be worked on. Let's hope they clean things up and keep getting better as the season goes. Next week already looks tough for Cinci home opener. Glad the team is 1-0! Go Niners!

Week 1 is always such a tough read. I just hope that our defense continues to play well and that we didn't look that much better as a result of Jameis Winston and that OL and with Mike Evans being sick.

To be honest early in that game I was worried about our pass rush because it simply wasn't actually rushing Winston that much. The early stops were all on the secondary which is kind of crazy.

My hope here is that simply our DB coach was ass. Hopefully the new coach is going to help a lot and that Sherman is healthier now and Witherspoon used last year as a wake up call. Dude balled the fuk out! If he can keep it going all year this D will be for real. Seeing him actually get his head around on that route to Evans(i think) almost brought me to tears. Dude played it PERFECTLY. That's when you turn your head around…WR running deep with the sideline right there.

No road game is easy, especially home openers for the other team. Cinci will be that after they put up a tough battle in Seattle(not an easy task at all as we all know)

I'll be honest I thought Cinci was the one game before our bye which was what can be considered a "sure" win. Not that I thought we'd run over them but AJ Green is out and they simply didn't have a ton of star power but seeing Ross have a big game for them certainly makes them dangerous, especially at home if he's putting it all together.

Boyd is a pretty good WR in his own so we'll have to hope our pass rush can play like they did in the 2nd half at Tampa to avoid deep shots to Ross because as good as our corners played…i don't think we have the deep speed to stay with him. Have to force Dalton to make poor decisions and get the ball out quick.

On offense I really hope the playcalling/execution or lack thereof was related to the heat and some rust by Jimmy. Cinci has a strong DL and some decent players out there. I'd say their D is better than Tampa and we seemed to struggle too much vs Tampa at times.

Have to get the running game going but also have to open things up more in the passing game. I don't know if Kyle was being conservative because he didn't want to gas out any of the guys but we have to open things up. Hopefully Kyle and Jimmy are up to that challenge.

Get that W #2 and hopefully find a way to take care of Pittsburgh(who i hope will be coming into that game 1-1 and not reeking of desperation)

Cinci looked solid against Seattle in Seattle for their home opener. That said I don't look at Seattle as a strong team this year.

As for Cinci they did have Mixon get banged up with an ankle so maybe that helps sway something our way.

I really didn't like the 3rd and 17 when we lined up everyone 10 yards back and gave up the first down yesterday.

Agree that we have lots to take as positives and lots to clean up moving forward. I don't think this game is a for sure by any means but I don't see it as not winnable. If we play a bit better than yesterday I'd say we have a strong chance to head home 2-0.

That was awful. Shouldn't happen.

Really need to clean things up with the penalties that kill us time and time again and make sure we're getting off the field when the other team has 3rd and long.

I didn't realize Mixon is hurt. That will certainly not help them.

One thing that drove me crazy and I hope it's not going to be a recurring theme is the lack of snaps Solomon Thomas got yesterday. 12 snaps…

Maybe I'm letting my pre-draft crush on Thomas throw me off my game here but to me he SHOULD be playing inside, certainly on passing downs. I'd much rather see him there next to Buckner than Armstead.

Solly has to revive his career but I don't know if he got a single snap inside yesterday. It's like we're trying to ensure he's a full blown bust for us.

Guaranteed if he goes to the Pats he becomes a key part of their team.

In other news I noticed that Pettis only had like two snaps. Guess Kyle really meant what he said. Pettis seems like a girly man… lol. As good as he should be maybe he was hurt, sick or is really getting outplayed by everyone else?

Not a great looking win, but a 14 point win in Tampa is nice.

Obviously this isn’t Shanahan’s first year, but I’m just remembering Harbaugh’s first season. I remember week 1 we beat Seattle by a couple touchdowns but we had 2 special teams TD’s so it wasn’t a great looking win. Then week 2 we lost at home to Dallas. Week 3 we had an ugly win against Cincy and then we went to Philadelphia and it was Aldon’s coming out game and it was the first game where we looked pretty good. And then we went on a run.

So even though we didn’t look great, we could be putting it all together in a month.
Horny.

Very possible. Guess I just want to see our #3 overall pick try to revive his career and don't see the infatuation with Armstead by the coaches.

Yes he's big, yes he's strong. He's got a good bullrush but fuk…dude is a one trick pony and for every successful bullrush he'll have a play where he wins and completely whiffs on the ball carrier for a big gain or just does sh*t all.

Thomas gets no f(cking snaps inside it's crazy to me. Was so looking forward to a pass rush line of Bosa, Buckner, Thomas, Ford and I don't think we saw it once on Sunday.

Hope it's just because they wanted a heavy rotation on the DL due to the heat and due to having so many interior guys but few ends he was lost in the moment again.

Take it for what it's worth but Kyle said cuz of his injury he was behind a little in terms of game prep so he was backup duty for this game. We'll see if that changes moving forward. I still think he's a dangerous weapon in this offense and the one throw that went to him out of his 2 snaps he made a nice play.

Have to up our WR game…when 39 yards is the most yards by your WRs you're doing it wrong.

Cincinnati will be tough but for sure winnable, especially if we clean things up a bit and have a better game in terms of not hurting ourselves. Having Kwon a whole game will for sure help the run game. I expect the OL and Jimmy to get better and better each game. Week 1 and having guys not healthy is a double dose for rustiness. Hopefully we start to see more good than bad.

Love the fact that we have a pass rush, and genus 12 snaps is low but luckily we have depth and guys to rotate. Not a bad problem to have and Armstead did have a big sack.

Pettis getting low snaps sucks but I don't believe he's 100%. We need to get our WR group healthy and hopefully as Jimmy knocks some rust off more production will come from them.

Tevin Coleman has a ankle sprain which sucks, but all things considered is the only injury and something that is moderately serious but not season ending or super long time to be out. We have to stay healthy!

Looking at the rest of the NFC west everyone has a tough game this week and tbh we may have the best shot at winning, that said it won't be easy. Already looking forward to next sunday.

Two great special teams plays with that punt block and the immediate tackle on our punt. I think Blast pointed it out but that aspect of the game could help sway things although they may go unnoticed at times. Wish Robbie didn't doink that 57 yarder tho but Robbie is solid

How's everyone feeling for Sunday?

Not sure what to think after watching Tampa Bay last night. It looks like their D is definitely much improved from last year so that certainly makes me feel better about how our offense and Jimmy looked week 1 but then again Cam Newton missed a ton of throws, something Jimmy struggled with a bit on his own so he needs to improve this game and moving forward.

Sounds like Bosa is 50/50 whether he plays or not and seems like fans are mixed on whether we should just sit him until after the bye to get him to 100% versus letting him play on a gimpy ankle and risk re-aggravating it or never having it right this season.

Personally I think it should be up to him and the doctors. If he feels good enough to play, we just saw what bad ankle Bosa can do. I don't think Cinci is going to be a walk in the park. Their DL is LEGIT. Hubbard, Lawson, Dunlap, Atkins can all get after it and their pass rush scares me way more than Tampa's did. Dalton and Winston IMO are similar QBs - both can light you up but both can also make a lot of mistakes if you can get to them…having Bosa there would definitely help us pressure him.

My thinking is this is a sport where anyone can get hurt at any point. Guys who are 100% healthy get hurt. Shon Coleman was perfectly fine, got rolled up on similar to what happened with Nick and was out for the season. If Nick can play then you play him and hope for the best. It sucks that we can't see a 100% healthy Bosa out there but it's the name of the game.

Have to win this game. It won't be as easy as I thought and them hanging in there vs Seattle(a game they really should've won) at Seattle was impressive. Seeing Ross have a big game showed they're not only a Boyd WR team until AJ Green comes back and without a pass rush I'm not sure our guys can hang with Ross.

Would be huge to open up Levi this year at 2-0 and come back hopefully a tighter team from the road trip.

That week 4 bye doesn’t look so bad anymore especially for Bosa’s ankle.

Really hope Cordy Glenn and Mixon don’t play. Glenn isn’t great but their line is already suspect, taking another starter off of it could have our defensive line flying to Dalton, especially because the run game threat won’t be there without Mixon.

I love that we’re flying under the radar right now. And even if we win in Cincy we still won’t get a lot of love. I listen to and read a lot of stuff and nobody talked about the potential that our defense is actually good. It was all about how bad Jameis was.

Win a east coast game by 14 as an underdog and there’s people that actually feel worse about this team than they did before. And I get that Jimmy G wasn’t good but it was his first real game since his ACL tear. And he’s still had only, what 12 career starts? I think Jimmy could take a month to get right. And Shanahan will try to lean on the run game, and our defense could keep making plays and people will still be doubting us despite the W’s.
Horny.

Shanahan on Nick Bosa on
@KNBR
, said team is being cautious w/practice on turf - believes he'll practice, likely plays if he does: "We want to be a little bit smart about it.. I still feel pretty optimistic about [him playing Sunday], but we're going to let it play out." #49ers

That’s good news. Shanny also saying positive things about Pettis. It’d be really cool if this off-season and week 1 was Shanahan’s plan all along and an eye opener for Pettis. He knows Pettis can be great but he just hasn’t been as aggressive as Shanny wants him to be. If Pettis can come in week 2 and play his ass off our offense can take a big step.

I feel good about Sunday. They need to get the rushing game going and take pressure off Jimmy G until he can get settled back in. I have my concerns with him but a good rushing game to go along with a good defense will help out a lot.

I don't think we don't have a chance to win but we strictly will have to limit mistakes. No turnovers and a lot less penalties and I see us winning. I imagine we will pressure Dalton a bit and he's less mobile/slippery than Winston. He was sacked 5 times against Seattle, although thats in a tough environment vs at home I think we can get to him. Mixon not 100% and same with some OL of theirs but we have to limit big plays.

I'm optimistic and really think we will win based on the fact I think the defense will play just as good if not better and tbh I don't see how the offense could play much worse. I think if the offense improves even a little bit it significantly increases our chances.

I think Jimmy gets going a bit more this game, the run game is effective, and the D balls out (hopefully their new norm) and that we win again and I'll go with 23-20. Two td's for us and 3 fg and two tds for them and 2 fgs.

Dalton sacked 6 times but we only force 1 turnover.

Solid half minus a few penalties and one bad INT.

Defense still playing well and offense moving the ball as long as we don't get penalties. Keep the foot on the gas second half. No letting up.

Yeah that interception was a terrible play but luckily the defense stepped up and saved a score there.

Crazy that Kittle hasn't even really got going yet. There are threats everywhere and Jimmy is doing a solid job of staying in the pocket and hitting who he needs to.

The only thing I'm a little underwhelmed with is the pass rush. I'd love to see a few more sacks.

Agree. I’m hoping Ford turns it up.

Shanahan is absolutely killing them. JG is as good as his playcalling it seems. That throw was a complete nightmare.
