Went and tried on a bunch of divers yesterday. The breitlings I thought I'd like I didn't, but I fell in love with their superocean in yellow. It was on the absolutely best rubber strap I've ever handled. I'd almost buy a watch just for that strap and clasp. Better than any Tudor, omega, isofrane, or seiko rubber by far.

The external AR coating, which I once vowed I would never get, was amazing as well. Fit and finish were excellent. These are a steal at $2500 gray market. Torn between yellow and all blue. They're purely sporty, no dress divers here.

My vote goes to the blue personally, only because I'm not big on flashy watches and the yellow makes it much more flashy imo. But I checked em out in person a while back and they're really nice

Checked out the new YM last Saturday and the strap feels/sits great on the wrist and looks stunning. As the strap is only adjustable by the clasp they will fit the appropriate size strap upon purchasing the watch.

And this came completely out of nowhere and is now the front runner for my diver. The more I think about it this would be perfect. I want something legible I can wear at work that can take a beating.

Sinn Ux SDR. It's a quartz movement with a seven year battery life and water resistant to 5000m. The case is filed with oil, which I assume helps with WR and creates a neat visual effect of the handles being very close to the crystal. I'd get it on the rubber strap.

About $2300 from an AD on rubber. I don't want the bracelet, it's too big for one IMO. I love the rubber and want some zulus and a canvas for it.

Panda. Can't pass down your vacation trip to your children.

Anyways, hello all. Have narrowed my next watch down to three choices:
Stowa Marine Automatic:

Nomos Tangente:

CW Trident 600 pro:

I love Stowa's history, quality, and customer service. But Nomos's finish trumps Stowa's, and Nomos is also in house. CW has made a great quality diver for the money. I've had a hard on for ceramic bezels recently, but I hate the fact that the CW brand has a fashion watch aura. That specific model also has a boring workhorse for a movement.

In other news, I've been speedmasterless for almost a month.

traveling is kind of overrated. id pick the watch. the trip will be over within a week or 2. that watch will last you years and you can still sell it or trade it after youre done with it

personally i would go for the Nomos, you already pointed out the issue i would have with the CW and that is tha it screams fashion watch to me at least (although watch enthusiasts seem to like that one). what you should keep in mind is that the tangente is really small (36mm or 38mm case) so if you are used to bigger watches this one will look odd at first. a friend of mine has a 38mm tangente aswell as the same exact stowa you posted so i had the opportunity to wear both; my conclusion? get the tangente, for the price you get and inhouse movement and the tangente blows away the stowa quality wise. the stowa is still a great watch but the nomos is playing in a different leauge

WHY NOT BOTH? Although I would always recommend travel over watches.

It depends on how you travel. If it's for two weeks of binge drinking and boring hotels, then yes, get the speedy panda. If you however are a bit more adventurous, ALWAYS go for travels. I spent 3 months in the US on just a $7k budget - my actual budget was bigger, but I ended up only spending 7k total including car rental, plane tickets, gas, seriously all expenses.

If it's an all-in vacation, get the speedy.
If it's an actual adventure and not just a blatant waste of money (you're traveling solo), go Europe. If you're smart about your money, you can get a whole lot out of a small budget.

I see what you mean. I guess youd have to decide what type of trip you want to have with your money and what you expect to get out of the trip. Personally if it was just a trip to see the clubs or bar hop, I would save my money. Even if I wasnt considering a watch.

Would you recommend the 38 over the 35?

The 35 seems to be the original Tangente, while the 38 seems to be just a bigger version with "tangente 35" parts on the inside. Have a 7 inch wrist. 40-41mm is my sweet spot for other watches.

My girlfriend and I are planning a three month~ road trip for next fall going to all the national parks. We're planning on spending no more than 10,000 total. That's just to have enough surplus for emergencies. Realistically will probably be around 6-8k. Camping really drops down the cost.
