When you come to think of it, almost all human behaviour and activity is not essentially any different from animal behaviour. The most advanced technologies and craftsmanship bring us, at best, up to the super-chimpanzee level. I've resisted posting this in here as it's still painful. My complete camera bag was stolen a few weeks ago. Canon 70d, 17-55, 55-250, 24-105L, and 50mm 1.8 all gone. Thank goodness I had just downloaded all of the images off of the card that morning. The details of losing it are completely my fault and a huge expensive lesson. Don't leave your gear unattended .

So, on to replacing it. Since everything I had is gone, I'm not opposed to switching brands.

I'm currently leaning to making the jump to full frame (Nikon d750) but also considering picking up a 7dmkii. I'm not a pro by any stretch of the imagination. I mostly shoot kids sporting events, plays, etc. I really enjoy trying to capture the moments.
Pro's and Cons with either?

The 7Dmk2 is the better sports/action camera however 6.5fps (D750) is certainly fast enough for recreational photography.

D750 offers better IQ. Larger, higher resolution sensor, less noise at high ISO, and greater dynamic range. Longer battery life is also a plus. Only reason I would go with a 7Dmk2 would be if I needed 10fps.

Have you considered the Nikon D7200? That's $800 saved that could go towards some glass.

I have looked at the 7200 but not very closely or done any of the comparisons. I think my mind gave this set back as an opportunity to "upgrade" all the way around.

And, your analysis is kind of my same conclusion. I was doing just fine with the 70D @ it's rated 7fps, so I don't think I'd actually "need" 10.

I shoot a lot of Volleyball, which is indoors in very poorly lit gyms. The noise introduced from the 70D at high iso's was very apparent, and this seems to be where Nikon excels with the 750D.

The kit lens available with the 750 is 24-120 f/4 and I'm assuming this is Nikon's version of the 24-105L f/4 from Canon, correct?

*Edit - almost forgot. the D750 with the kit lens is currently discounted pretty substantially.

If you've got the budget then full frame is a nice luxury.

ISO performance of the D750 is a big step up from the 70D so you'll be quite pleased. AF system is top notch and you can focus down to -3EV which is basically moonlight. The Canon 6D can also do this but Canon seriously crippled the AF system and it can only shoot at 4.5fps which I think you'd find too hit and miss for sport/action photography.

It's like Nikon saw a leaked 6D spec sheet and improved on every aspect with the D750. No doubt the next version of the 6D will be more like the D750 but that is probably a year away.

That horrible feeling when you need to get a new system but have to rely on reviews because there are NO camera stores in your country that carry anything other than Nikon or Canon gear (I wanna go mirrorless).

Still going to wait for the new sony camera (I guess Nov the 20th), the x-pro2 (mystical and/or mythical at this point) and the omd-em1ii before I decide on what to get but this sucks ass.

buy one used from Mexico trough mercado libre. You can get one from around 10K mexican pesos. The second hand camera market in Mexico is pretty big

Get the D750, the autofocus is great and so is the high-iso performance. The 24-120 is great, B&H has the kit $300 cheaper than when I purchased it a few months ago

Dammit. Was recently thinking of going 7200 + 70-200 f2.8 to get started.

Das it, plus you can adapt old lenses. Legacy minolta lenses are easily found trough central/south america for a decent price too.

Hi everyone

I want to get into flash photography. I keep hearing that Yongnuo flashes are the way to go for a cheap decent flash. Problem is I keep reading about the different models etc 560, 565, 568 but not sure what the differences are and what would be the best one to buy to learn from. If anyone can help I appreciate it

There are two basic modes of operation with a speedlight — manual and TTL. Unless you've got a reasonable amount of experience with flash photography and are generally shooting subjects where the flash to subject distance doesn't change much (portraits, etc.), I'd recommend getting a speedlight that offers TTL control (i-TTL for Nikon and E-TTL for Canon).

TTL flash allows you freely change your aperture and get consistent exposures while allowing you to react quickly to changing conditions. With manual flash, if you're at say 1/16 power and f/2.8 and suddenly need to stop down to f/8, unless you know that requires a 3 stop increase in flash power (1/16 to 1/2), you're going to be lost and relying on a lot of trial and error. If you're at 1/2 power and f/4 and want f/8, your next stop is 1/1 (full power). Unless you know increasing the ISO by a stop will give you that power you're going to be lost. Trying to blend manual flash with ******t is also going to do your head in when everything is happening quickly and you can't crunch the numbers in your head.

TTL makes it simple. If you want to increase or decrease your flash exposure, just dial in flash exposure compensation until you like what you see. It also gives you the option of using higher sync speeds. And despite what the "I only use manual mode" snobs say, many pros use TTL flash.

Cliffs: for maximum control, get a TTL speedlight.

Speaking of flash photography, I just picked up these.

Never thought I'd be excited about cheap Chinese triggers but these guys have really done their homework. They clearly listened to photographers rather than just ripping off inferior designs. A low profile controller that operates like the Nikon infrared SU-800 controller only with radio. Idiot proof. They also take AA batteries.

Do they make camera shutter triggers? My D700 has a port for a wifi thing, which I got, but is useless when you don't have wifi, which seems to be all the time, most of my shots are in the wild.

Jumping to full frame with no good full frame glass would be pointless, I'd go with a t6s or a used 70d and spend that $1,000+ you'll save on the body on some full frame lens.
