Never played the old one, tried this resurrected remake. Wasn't impressed, still looks and feels old. I'll wait for D4

The armies of "Change core designs because more options are better and please do what I want" are in full swing. How fking dumb can you be when the product is delivering exactly what is being advertized. It's like they are expecting some DEVELOPING franchise installment here.

I am very impressed with the beta, even though it's only 2 acts and not all classes are available. There are some technical things to work out but it seems to be delivering exactly what they promised.

"PUBLIC LOOT IS TOXIC!!!!" on the official forums already cropping up. What a snapshot of gaming mentality. Public loot is one of the most brilliant parts of this, makes items more valuable and more of a rush if you manage to pick off something rare. I love how they try pre-empt the "It's a remaster" by trying to say there should be "two modes". I mean the level of stupidity is staggering. They are doing their best now to project and get everyone not to play.

"THE GAME NEEDS BALANCE" You fuking moron, it's going to be the final LOD patch forever, what part of resmaster do you not understand?

Oh and I am sorry but if you're whining on console that's your own fault. It's a fuking PC game, it's not going to sweat and make sweeping changes because you're on a sh*t platform for a genre like this.

My only gripe is for a resmaster they are charging quite a bit, but they have delivered what it promises so I don't feel like it's money wasted.

In the slight 0.1% chance they start going against even their own words for this game and making some monster hybrid child then I'd try for a refund. But I am confident they won't.

I've also decided since the start of the first league may be rough to get powerlvls, to do a meteorb sorc and respec later. At least then I know I can handle all the way up to Hell Baal solo if I have to.

Well I just found out the ladder won't be released at launch so no ladder-runewords etc... reason being they want to make sure the game is stable before they start a ladder but isn't that their job to do beforehand? Let's me real they want to see how the RMT, BOT and duping environment goes but still I don't want to pump in hardcore hours on a non-ladder character from the start.

Hopefully they release it a few weeks after... but if it's more along the lines of a few months then that's messed up.

anyone know if console version will have offline play like D3 had or it will require constant internet connection?

Someone earlier was complaining about not having wide screen support. I definitely agree. I really thought I was going to have some 3440X1440 35” widescreen master race play happening.

I guess it simply isn’t possible since the remaster literally runs over the old game. And the old game of course obviously never had widescreen aspect ratio support.

Always though it was kind of stupid that there were ladder only runewords. Especially now that we have 3 month ladders some of them will be impossible to make legit.

Decided to finish act 2. Ended with my holy freeze paladin at lvl 22. Got my mf up to 227%. Just gonna screw around now and see what loot i can get running Andy and what not.

tried the game earlier today. right off the bat, the gpu hit 83c. played around with the settings, forced vsync and fps to 60 in nvidia settings, and temp dropped to 60c. power draw on the gpu is still twice as high as on diablo 3. game doesn't seem too optimized for a refresh. entering some maps causes stuttering.

widescreen worked on the new version of the game (haven't tried pvp), but had black vertical bars on the classic.

the constant blue messages were annoying, but it's a beta thing. for some reason the game doesn't tell you when people join or leave, unless it's some option that's turned off. aside from that the game feels about the same as the original. i don't really remember having an option to respec stats/skills. must have quit the game a bit before they released that feature in original. wish they'd fix up the occasional rubber-banding and npc's randomly walking into corners and just walking back and forth instead of following you closely. didn't see a way to create a classic character, only lod. there's some "convert to expansion" button in the player selection screen. maybe that's a hint of things to come?

i played a hammerdin. probably not the best character to start on a fresh account, but still manageable. once you get some ok gear and skills pumped, he's able to solo. so far i'm at lvl 20. got some ok items for him, including a rune word weapon and armor. found some low-end set items, tons of chipped gems, charms, about 10 or so low runes. stopped at the palace in act 2. have to read up on tomb runs for leveling, because i completely forgot how they were done. i think once you lose the staff, then you can't repeat them? also want to try crafting items.

saw some people on reddit saying there's a way to play necro & assassin before open beta by editing some files. don't know if that's against blizzard's rules though.

So I played it some more I dont like the inventory and more deliberate pace coming from 3 but its growing on me a bit

My pally is balling now. Steel runeword in a flail, stealth in a breastplate, and ancients pledge in a kite shield. MF gear in the rest of the slots. Would have preferred one of the pally only shields but couldn’t find one.

Weird. My 3080 sits at 45-50C with me capping to 60FPS. That's with everything on ultra at 3440X1440 resolution.

On another note, how are you all distributing sorc stat points? Everything OI read says to put nothing in energy, but with that I'm constantly out of mana...

The general rule is enough str/dex to equip your gear, enough dex for max block if you want it, rest in vitality.

You are going to struggle with mana early on. Chug those mana potions.

get a point in warmth

but really at least for early game you are chugging mana potions like crazy, keep a bunch in your inventory

Might check it out on pc to see how cross progression works and if I can even run it on my laptop. Want to see the new lobby and whatnot too.

If I let it go wide open I get 150-178. Worst dips I get is into the 120's and that's with a full game with a **** load of stuff happening at one time on my screen.
That's at 3440X1440 on all highest settings. Doesn't seem that bad to me.

No big deal. I'm used to the black bars from playing shooters. (Most shooters don't allow widescreen ratio because it gives a field of view advantage.)

I'm still disappointed though. I wanted to play in full widescreen glory.

Valorant is the latest one. I’ve definitely played a few other competitive shooters that didn’t allow for wide screen as well for the same reason.

So I guess I shouldn’t put a whole lot of effort into my characters. People are saying we will not get to keep them when the game actually launches?

Damnnn just saw it's an open beta... but ends today. Guess I'll just wait.

So many hours spend on D2 back in the day. Been looking forward to this.
