Love the look of the American Eagle black watch, but it’s a literal piece of chiet. Returned it twice w/o choosing the cash refund just to have the paint on the outer ring start chipping within a week.

Any recommendations? Budget $300

Hydroconquest finally came in. Dig it so far. Would like it to be 40 instead of 41, but still love it. The dial definitely feels very spacious. Definitely can't wait to get it on a nato.

Im not good with this sort of the hobby yet, but I'd recommend looking through videos on The Urban Gentry channel on youtube. I think he's got a few videos on budget watches and such.

pick up the blue dial, or the new model white dial with blue sub-dials. got my blue dial chrono last year and it's one of my most worn watches

but the new white, blue sub-dial model is fcking sick, and it wears better as I think the old model at 41 is slightly too large, especially because the bracelet flares so it wears more like a 43

First thought was Tissot Visodate, but I think that it is a bit dressy and price is a bit higher.

I would look into Hamilton. Can find a good new auto for 400-500, used you should be able to find something at 300. If nothing found there, go to the standard budget option, Seiko.

If you are okay with designer "fashion" watches like this, MVMT makes some decent watches in this price range.

Here's their current collection: https://www.mvmtwatches.com/collecti...l-mens-watches

This is only $95 and you can easily pick up aftermarket straps elsewhere for less than $30.

Likely getting an Omega AT in the next month or two. Trying to decide on white dial or blue dial. I thought the blue would pop too much against certain colors but i tried the blue on at an Omega boutique and it really does blend to an almost black when turned away from light

But the white dial looks sexy as fuk too…

Jesus christ… yes, yes it is. Also love the versatility of the watch in general. I love those watches that could be tee-shirt and jeans or suit wear.

Yeah I would go with the blue, it adds just that little bit of extra pop.

Only problem with the AP is that I expect it to be very difficult to get a hold of given how popular SS sports watches these days are. Haven't seen one in the market yet, I expect it will be sometime during Sep/Oct when it gets released.

Only problem for me is that i think that those won't be in the 41mm if i understood correctly? I'm a stout dude so anything under 40mm looks dainty as fuk on me. Tried the 38mm Omega AT and the sales guy chuckled once we clasped it down and looked at the overall profile.

When i get to that 15k - 17k watch point i'm all but certainly bee-lining to the sky dweller. I fuking love that watch and i actually travel internationally a lot so it's cool. Then again, i may be lookin for a pure dress watch in which case i'd probably go with the A Lange Söhne Langematik

AD got back up with me over the weekend. Mentioned they had a 39mm Oyster Perpetual with black dial in and it's similar to the Exp 1. Told them i'd rather wait and get the one i wanted. We'll see what happens.

It's probably going to be impossible to get. Last time I was at the AP AD they only had three watches in stock. Two gold, and one of the gigantic divers. Also I think the new one doesn't have their new in-house movement. Not that there s anything wrong with the current movement, but it's something to note.

ROC is generally much easier to get than regular RO.
That being said, AP is moving to an all boutique model, no more "ADs" and I think it will be much more difficult to enter into the AP realm

speaking of moving into exclusive realms. how are you enjoying the skydweller? You've had it awhile now I think. what are your thoughts on bulk, lack there of, use of the bezel-complication? versatility?

hey bro, hope everything has been well. it’s been very useful for me as i have been traveling a lot lately. i was in europe for almost 2 weeks in 3 different time zones and it was very easy and simple to differentiate home vs local time.
that being said, you can get a two tone for the same money as a stainless steel skyD. it’s much heavier on top than my BLNR, but it goes well with a suit or jeans and t shirt

I think the new movement is thicker, which is why they excluded it from the ROC.

The lack of supply on certain SS models is just absurd at the moment. I got my Batman at retail and while it's a nice watch, it isn't a 16k watch. I've been looking for a 5712, unfortunately, the Patek AD in my area is terrible and hordes the popular pieces for his own collection and I am not about to pay 100K+ it.

Going to stop by the AP boutique Wednesday night. I don’t have a relationship with them so i have to give them comfort that i am not a flipper. Than i have to give 25% and it’s 2-6 month wait. For the roc with blue dial.

Sold my ROO rubberclad today to put toward this purchase.

Noted. I was in Valetta Malta back in May, they had a Rolex Boutique in this 2,000 year old city (i was like lmfao, looks so out of place). Anyways I noticed they had a skydweller in stock but i do think it was two-toned now that i think about it. Good to hear it's not as "unwieldy" as the yachtmaster appears to be.

This is my beef with most rolex SS models. The Skydweller is the only one where i'm like "okay this isn't just a fit/finish/brand thing. this is actually a sick creation overall"

I think i will. I may use it as a, maybe this is an excuse to go in, try it on, and say "yeah definitely want to stick with the exp." haven't had an explorer on the wrist, just know from what i tend to like i will like it a little better. It's a little less "dressy" of a dial to me. part of me feels chitty going in to "try it on" and looking at it knowing full well I'm going to go "nah bro." But i also know it's a tactic. I think i remember when i went in a month ago that i saw the oyster perp he's talking about.

I think i would be. I've got a 38mm Hamilton khaki field auto that i wear most of the time that is just fine. The 41mm Longines Hydroconquest also "feels" big to me, but it may be just that I'm used to the smaller Hamilton.

Speaking of the Longines, i tried for a solid 30 minutes to get the damn bracelet off. I guess they have some sort of weird spring bar. The AD is a solid 40 minutes away, is this something i could easily take to a local dealer that supports watch repair? Just want them to get it off. I even have generic replacement bars ready to go.

If i'm reading the deposit correctly, is that a two-tone 41mm presidential and "change"? lol

Get rid of this thinking, especially if you're an informed buyer that even kind of knows what the fuk he's talking about. Boutique sales people spend the majority of their time dealing with snotty entitled dick heads, or idiot bro dreamers that just want "a rollie" and don't know the difference between a submariner and a datejust.

I was looking at watch forums and youtube videos for WEEKS deciding if i wanted the Omega Globemaster or Aqua Terra. From what I saw on the forums i was leaning toward the globemaster because people swore up and down it was the more well made watch. I finally decided to walk into the omega boutique on a weekday. I told the guy I was researching the 2 watches online and i just wanted to see what they were like on wrist and he was totally cool about it.

For starters, I got the globemaster on wrist and just laughed at how ****ty i thought it looked. That poverty wannabe rolex fluted bezel is a joke and i'm surprised people are okay with owning it. I got the aqua terra on wrist and i was like "…oh damn." That killed all doubt that it was the watch i wanted. You'll also notice, the more you start talking movements, size options, and sharing your knowledge the more "relaxed" the sales people become and start speaking to you as a fellow enthusiast rather than some dickhead wasting his time. I think as long as you're not milking it, not accepting champagne n chit, and not trying on EVERY watch behind the glass you'll have a positive experience.

Ill go in thinking this. I know they had an Exp II white dial, but i don't like that bezel at all. Ill hit up the AD in email and ask if he works Saturday, ill try the OP on just to see how it looks and give it a fair shot but make it clear i probably wont be walking out with anything.

One of our "regulators" at work from DC had a blue dial OP on in a meeting i was in yesterday. There is definitely a "line" that we have to respect with this organization. At the end of the meeting i said "Sir, nice watch." On comes a 10 minute convo about how he wants a pepsi, what we're interested in, and he gave some compliments on the Longines and mentioned he noticed it and was trying to see what it was.
