This has to be hands down my favorite picture I've ever taken, love hitting up this barn, always an owl or two in it.

Any Bros know any good LR Presets?
I've been making some based on workflows for certain nightlcubs/ gigs/ but i'd like to expand and see more of whats there. Can learn a ton about settings through presets.

The only ones I have right now are the free VSCO ones. Any other recomms?

Can you not embed photos from Instagram anymore? Been having problems trying to do this lately….

Just got back from a couple weeks in Thailand. Man I love it over there for photography. Subjects galore and so much beauty.

Unless it's a WB issue it could be airglow . I've seen it in night shots before.

For Milky Way shots you'll generally want a shorter exposure and high ISO to minimize star trails so the 30 second limit won't be an issue but to be honest the MW stuff is often overdone. When it complements an interesting foreground or scene with some nice mountains, etc. it's nice but I see some galleries where every night shot has a vivid Milky Way in it which of course never looks like that when you're standing there. It's like they just bought a 5Dmk3 and can't stop fapping over high ISO.

You can do some really interesting things at night with longer 30s+ exposures like light painting or shooting under a full moon to expose your foreground. Long exposures in the day with a strong ND filter can also produce some beautiful images. As with every technique that can be overdone too. Just experiment, try to master those techniques, and look for interesting compositions to use them in a way that is complementary rather than looking like a novelty effect. Just my 2 cents.

Price looks good for a D5300 + 18-55 kit lens however be aware you're buying what looks like a gray import (e.g. Hong Kong) with no manufacturer warranty.

If it's a lemon right out of the box then you should be okay because you can just ship it back. If something goes wrong outside the 30 day return period and you can't afford to get it repaired then you'll have an expensive paperweight.

As for the bundle, the two extra lenses and tripod look like junk.

The HDR is pretty obvious on this. In general unless you're going for a specific look, post-processing should be pretty unnoticeable to an outside viewer.

Hey guys. I'm thinking my camera will be an a6000.

Do you think I should buy the camera with kit lens and then buy a prime lens later on. Or buy the body with a prime lens. Comments? Thanks.

Since that post Ive done a bit more research and decided this was a better get: http://www.adorama.com/inkd7100r.html (havent bought yet though)

Now that leaves me without any accesories/lenses. I found this on Craigslist https://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/pho/5280352054.html . Im a super noob when it comes to cameras/lenses and all that but it looks like the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 XR LD Aspherical is a pretty nice lens especially at $200. The Tokina looks nice too but is selling on BHP for $450 new so Id rather just get new. Got any tips for me? Pretty much from what Ive gathered theres a ton of choices for a ton of different things, and the Tamron looks like a good lens to start with. What do you think?

D7100 is a much better camera. Excellent choice. It's essentially a semi-pro model with no D400 in the range so you could shoot for years without feeling a need to upgrade.

Generally the wider the zoom range the more optical compromises are made with a lens to make it work.

17-50 is a good starting point for general photography. If you want to shoot portraits a Nikon 50 1.8G on crop would be a good choice. An 85 1.8 would be even better but that's something to work up to.

Far more important than gear is learning the fundamentals. There are a lot of good books and online tutorials but as always feel free to ask questions in here. There are many helpful photographers in this thread.

So I picked up an old X100 for a decent price.

I really do mean to get out and shoot more, working the holidays at Starbucks leaves me knackered, and the 2 days I have off a week comprise mostly of me sleeping. Hopefully soon take a few days off as Vacation.

Hnnnng

http://www.nikonusa.com/en/nikon-pro...lpix-p900.html

I know photo brahs all about the DSLRs and I do like my D700, but my first step into photography was with the P510, and I loved it, worked great for what I was wanting, the zoom was the selling point for me, but now the P900 has 83x zoom. Unreal, quality would be chit, but makes me hng thinking about wildlife shots.

Got to love the x100s (plural not the "S" model specifically). I got the "T" and love it. I do miss the ability to change lenses. Waiting on the x-Pro2 before buying my new camera though

Pulled the trigger on the d750 with 24-120 f/4 kit lense. I'll run this lense while I'm getting used to the new platform. First volleyball tourney isn't until mid January, so I'll have some time to get accustomed to the layout.
You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.

Fuji does make the 28 and 50 conversion adapters though

and as far as their systems go, the XE-1/2 can be had for a relatively good price and they're fantastic systems.

I don't think I've ever bought a "new" camera lol.

An EVF that Fuji and Sony worked on together would be fantastic, Fujifilm make some EXTREMELY crisp EVFs, Sony has the upper hand on latency though, Suji does get a bit sluggish when moving.
