I kinda love the new Lange sports model, I asked my AD to source me one to look at. Saw it live at the event on Wed night, it was beautiful, but I would throw it on a mesh strap if possible.

Also Rolex craziness is dying down, I'm seeing some 116710BLNR for around 12, whereas Jubilee is near 13.5-14.5. Just has to do with less Chinese money coming in from Trump choking them. Once he opens up again (when he is up for re-election) it will explode I feel.

CHNR is probably the only two tome watch I've ever liked. Love the full RG even better.

That's the thing with it though, it's the bracelet that makes it ugly to me.

And the oyster BLNR still seems to be in the 14-15 range used. The ones you see artificially low I can almost guarantee they don't actually have in stock. I've been through this with some other watches in the past.

Precisely why i asked. I only here people talk about the blnr, but as the resident Rolex-Hater i've always given a nod to the CHNR. it's not just a rolex logo, that watch actually looks really cool.

I have a GMT LN and a friend has a BLNR, and I prefer the LN. I think it's the most useful, most versatile watch Rolex makes(made). I still like the BLNR though.

Yup. Im meh about it. But will openly admit I'm not the biggest fan of yellow/rose gold. Just too flashy for me. Maybe I'd have a different opinion in person? Maybe it looks understated? The Daytona the AD had my first visit was a YG/oyster steel. Reason I didn't get it was the YG, knowing full well I'd get what I want and sell it but just didn't like the way it looked on my wrist.



Side note. Unfortunately flying down home to VA for a friends celebration of life party next Friday. I will be flying through Dulles, is there a shop I could pop into? Ill have about 1.5 hours to walk around.

Stopped in my AD since I had the day off and they're next to my favorite bagel place. Grabbed coffee and chatted. He suddenly had a much more positive view of being able to get me an Exp. Said maybe by Christmas and definitely the first of the year. Also had yet another YG/steel blackface Daytona AND a YG/Steel sub date. If I didn't hate YG I would've scooped one up.

I think i inadvertently insulted a guy yesterday. My girl was introducing me to a guy friend of hers from childhood. He kept brandishing his wrist and adjusting his cuff just below his chin (as i've found guys who want you to notice their watch often do), so i finally gave it attention.

Me: I have a funny story about getting humbled flying into zurich and seeing all the swiss watch adverts. That's a Royal Oak Offshore you have right?

Him: …it's, yeah it's a Royal Oak…

Me: Really like the case in the rose gold. nice choice. What would you say is your favorite watch if you could pick one?

**I guess that's where it kind of threw him off becaus in his head he had the coolest watch in the world, but he gave me the standard "Well the Patek Nautilus will probably be my next watch". What he said after made me chuckle on the inside. He goes "Yeah… i'm just not into watches that are like really flashy and stuff" lulz soooo you think a Rolex is beneath you but you don't know theres a difference between a royal oak, royaloak off-shore and your next watch is a nautilus. Gotcha.

I could believe it. He chatted with me for a solid 25 minutes again. Mentioned the rep had been through recently. Which is funny because remember a few weeks ago I posted about a chick I met in a bar downtown who was in from NYC, is in the watch industry, and had an AP on….probably coincidence but who knows. He even hinted about how they take care of customers. Basically hinting around the fact that if I got the Exp, he'd be curious what I'd want next. Flat out told him I would tell him I would want a BLNR. He also mentioned I was at the top of the call list for an exp. I'd rather chat up a dude like this, be patient, and get a watch at retail + tax and not pay a premium.

Nothing against the poster, but Is dealing with an AD always as cringe-worthy as the above post? It behooves me that this much effort/thinking is required for a fukn watch.

The asnwer is yes. I been on watchuseek and read some stories of ADs telling people they need to spend $xyz at the store before they will put them on a list for a rolex.

Maybe it's just the way i typed it up, but it literally was a 30 minute bull chitting session with the dude. Yes i know he's trying to sell a watch, but I walked in and he doesn't have to talk and could just sorta try and get me out of the store. But is always happy to see me and spends easily 30 minutes chatting. Hell, the last time i was in there we spend 20 minutes talking about podcasts. And he wasn't as blunt as i made it sound, just being subtle about how they take care of repeat customers in lieu of someone they think are just going to turn around and flip a watch. It's like any other business.

The salesperson just wants to sell something, so if you walk in and say something like "do you have any SS sport Rolex/AP/Patek?" (which you both know they don't–for you at least) you're just one of the dozens of other people who they hear that from every day. If you're looking for something else, it's pretty much straight forward and they're very happy to help you. I've only had one bad experience, and I can't count how many ADs I've been to, and of all places it was the fuking Hublot boutique. It wasn't really even that bad, but they're the cuck brand of watches, and she was really nice until I asked what they could do on the price (yes I understand I actually found a cuck watch I liked), and she went on some chit about how they would never discount anything etc. 360d out of there. Funny thing is I had a good AD connection at the time that could give me great deals on Hublot, I was just curious how they would compare.

The audacity of such an insulted reaction from a brand unanimously known as being for buyers with more money than taste is quite laughable.

I'll admit though, there are a few big bang models that look pretty cool.

Also, I can't express enough how drawn i've always been to Tag Monacos. I guess the latest one finally got an in house movement with 80hour power reserve for 6 grand. not bad brad.

2019 Exps on chrono and David SW seem to be in the 7k range from what i see when i look.

I need to stop watching vids. Was watching the latest Urban Gentry vid and he was talking about his collection. The Cosmonaute Navitimer came up again. I don't know what it is about that watch. I don't like larger or busy watches but something about it is just tits to me.

This is a prime example of taking a classical beautiful idea and simply not leaving it alone and fuking it all up. The Aladdin reboot with Will Smith comes to mind, as does the Rolex Daytona with rainbow diamond bezel. Absolute abominations, all of it.



I have another cringeworthy watchtale for you all. I was at a doctor's office the other day. This guy is always wearing Dita glasses, dress shirts with "Dior" stitched into the cuff, and last time i saw him he had some Ulysse Nardin watch on…

ANYways… I'm sitting in his office, he's typing up something on his computer and i notice under his cuff the unmistakeable smooth highpolish case seen on the datejust or skydweller. So I'm like, "hey, i see you're wearing a rolex this time around. is that a datejust or skydweller?"

I chit you not he goes "pshhh that's a good question let me see", flicks his wrist out, picks his Dita glasses off the desk and puts them on to stare heavily at the dial so he can read that it says "datejust". The whole time i'm just sitting there with my mouth partially open as i'm watching this tomfoolery go down. I DO recognize at cursory glance they share many of the same parts, but for fuks sake how do you just NOT know if your watch is one of the hottest annual calendars on the market or not. lol i swear 80% of rolex wearers will forever be the bane of my existence

Pics incoming. Watch looks completely different in person. Pics online did not do it justice. Dial is MUCH less busy looking in person and the green is barely noticeable.
