The polished bezel and the blue dial grab enough attention as it is, I think what is overkill is that the hour numerals are applied and high polished as well. It’s just ALOT when you’re looking at it in store.
The white dial is more laid back and the hour numerals are the normal painted application and black. This tones down the wrist presence considerably, I will go back and try that one on this weekend.
As for the size being odd for me, that’s just a personal proportion issue I have for clothes and everything else. I’m stocky in the arms and shoulders but I have dainty ass soyboy hands. The watch in this photo is a 44mm chronograph.

fuark, i just figured out what it is (in addition to swapping out the ugly ass blue strap for the black)
The watch i tried on in store was the Large version. The pic you just uploaded with the bracelet vs strap is of the medium version. Looks way less awkwardly shaped with the mediums proportions. The large just looks kinda silly in comparison. Big ass square slab.

Happy New Years brahs.
I am looking to purchase this Rolex Oyster Perpetual 114300 Dark Rhodium (Retail $5700). This is my first "high end" purchase and don't know much about the process to be honest. I am based in NYC and found a seller in the Diamond District but apparently this is the "gray market"? Can I just walk into a Rolex store and buy this model? I don't see this model/colorway listed on any authorized dealers websites so I'm not sure…

The Rhodium may be easy to get your hands on. Most stores have at least an OP. I'd go start visiting authorized dealers and seeing what they have. Most SS sports models are rarely on the shelves.

Go in. Talk to people. Once they realize you're not a flipper they're more than happy to chat with you in most cases. Calling is useless. If youre in NYC, I'm sure there are a ton to go visit and shake hands.

Also, if I purchase online, how do I get it sized? Do I need to take it to an AD to get it sized or can I just go to any watch store?

I don't really care about the AD experience, I just wanna buy my chit and get the fuk out. It depends on what it means to you though.
If you buy from someone like David, measure your wrist and he'll size it for you (string around wrist and the measure the length of string). If it's not right, take it to an AD with a watchmaker on staff and have him size it for you. They usually do it for free but if they charge you it won't be much. I do it myself and that's another option.
Talk to David and talk to your AD and see how you feel.

Going to an AD is a great experience most of the time. You get to see watches in the flesh, compare them to other watches you've thought about (or haven't thought about) purchasing. That said, my primary issue with rolex is this borderline insulting "you have to lick our boots long enough until we determine you are worthy to give us your money". With an OP in New York you shouldn't have a problem, but the day you want an Explorer 2 or a GMT there's a very real probability they won't even let you try on the watch because they don't "know you". The whole thing triggers the fuk out of me.
You can always take it to an AD after you've purchased it to have them size it for you.
