I never really got that close to randoms I met on the internet. Like I always had enough distance to where I wouldn't consider them great friends. At best they were people I knew and got along with well from some old forum I went to or something.

Friend in HS pretended to be a girl that liked me. Arranged to meet me on campus one day and I went and no one showed up. Then the next message was like ahaha fuk u bye. Years later he confessed. Found out 2 of my friends knew it was him and they didnt even tell me. So yea lost 3 friends over that.
