Rainy weekend. Took a quick trip around the garden for some flower snap shots between the rain.
Echinacea tennesseensis - Tennessee coneflower popping off
Penstemon digitalis - I always liked the color pallet on there guys.
Sambucus canadensis - Elderberry is flowering. Never get berries off of this due to the birds. Happy to help I suppose.
Rudbeckia triloba - Brown eyed susans starting to flower out. You can also see the sea of Partridge Peas
(Chamaecrista fasciculata) here too. They self seeded hard last year.
Here is a good shot of the Partridge Peas (along with a spider). You can see the extrafloral nectaries on each leaf near the stem.
Andropogon gerardi - Big Blue Stem is starting to pack on size. Excited to see how big this gets.
Picked some peas for stir fry tonight.

Square foot garden:
Carrots on the right and top right. Not very big yet but they're doing great. Spinach is up (adjacent to carrots) and doing fine. Peas are doing great on the far left. Everything in between in mostly weeds. I planted lettuce and beets in there and they didn't come up well at all. I replanted the beets a couple days ago, still need to do the lettuce.
I planted tomato plants a couple weeks ago. We use water walls to get things started before the last frost - it actually froze last night and it's likely we get another freeze or two in the next few days.

Garden looks good! I am sure that you are on the cusp of the plants all blowing up.

Built a trellis for the cucumbers and watermelons. Only put the first 4' on it to allow for access. Will support watermelons to prevent them from tearing the stems. You also get a shot of the wildflower garden.

Even tho my shit is fucked up I am still out in the garden (very little capacity, just doing some hanging out and minor harvesting/maintenance).
A bumble bee covered in pollen, enjoying my milkweed (so are the aphids)
A shot down the front of the house. Everything is popping off. Need to weed the beds but its been hard to with my busted foot.
Left wildflower bed popping off. Hard to tell but most things are 3' or more here.
Right wildflower bed popping off as well. The Partridge peas (yellow flowers) self seeded themselves hard last year.
Left Veggie Garden. Cukes are going crazy. Been eating cucumber salad and pickling them all week.
Right Veggie Garden. Tomatoes are packing on mass. Had a few ripen already. Peppers are behind the tomatoes, hard to tell.
