Wasn't a 'bad' lose at all. You took a tumble but immediately rose to one knee. I am no boxing expert, but it looked like the ref ended the fight way too soon.

If you really want to start training again and have another crack in the ring, I would say do it. You are not too old, yet.

Life is very very unfair. If you're gunning for a promotion or getting a job at all in the corporate world, that's more about diversity and nepotism than the work you put in or your ability. If you're applying for something, college, graduate school, whatever, guess what? That's also more about diversity and nepotism than the work you put in or your ability and so on.

Boxing is one of the few things in life that's reasonably fair. Yes there's a gap in physical ability between people and yes there can be questionable decisions. But at the end of the day, you're matched up with someone the same weight as you and it's just you, him, and the referee. You know what else is even more fair? The CFA exam, it's not a subjective test, you either get the answers right or wrong. And guess what? You failed at that too.

I'm saying this not to hate on you but to make a point that hopefully helps you. You're not some hardworking guy with a 4.0 GPA who applied to medical school and still got rejected in favor of a 3.0 GPA black guy or in favor a 2.5 GPA trust fund kid who's dad donated a building. You're a guy who made an attempt at things that were fair and within your control and you came up short. The point here is that the failures were entirely on you and that's actually a good thing because that also means the outcomes are also within your control. It means that you can work harder and do better.

Having been on the receiving end of embarrassing losses in wrestling, boxing, BJJ and Muay Thai- you never really lose that feeling of embarrassment. You can drown it out with wins, improvements during training and funny stories with your team, but no matter how embarrassing the loss is, you're lightyears ahead of the people that never trained or competed

"Better to be a can than a fan" is a saying I just made up but I feel like it fits

Skimming through the replies, it's clear that your loss doesn't look nearly as bad as I'm sure it felt

If you're looking for an accountability partner to share training logs with for one last hoorah of competing, I'd be down to train for another boxing match after a decade off if it'd help you regain the confidence you need (1000% dead fkn srs)

Read the 'Man in the Arena' speech and decide if you wanna shake it off or see how you do with actually taking training serious

We're all gonna make it brah, it's not over until it's over

u have confidence issues and also i think u are dealing with some sort of early mid-life crisis which is ridiculous because u are still so young u could change ur life tomorrow and have plenty of time left

If you fight, you are going to lose. That is the way this game works.

BTW you were very "open" in that fight, need to tighten up your defense. You should look at the Golden Gloves if you want to get back in, they have events for all ages and skill levels.

What you should be embarrassed about is not preparing correctly, you wasted your time and your coach's time by drinking and smoking up to the fight. So you learn.
