The era I have studied the most is the Germanic Empire from about 1890-the end of ww1. Completely obsessed with it.

Specifically the occult roots of the upper class and how their ideas transformed into what became the Nazi party.

It is the modern equivalent of Bohemian Grove Society saying that mankind reached the stars 1000s of years ago and that Americans are descendents of a lost "Jedi" race whose telekinetic powers and martial prowess makes them superior to all other races.

Big fan of the greek and roman era but not sure I'd want to live in it. I wouldn't mind living in medieval northern Europe around 1200-1300 after christianity took hold and the area was mostly peaceful and rapidly building all those quaint towns and beautiful buildings. That era also had a warmer than average climate which led to agricultural surplus and a mercantile/trade economy with surrounding nations.

I laugh when I hear people say the current problems we are facing started with Obama or Clinton or Reagan or even post-WWII political actors. I've read a lot of medieval and Renaissance literature but I'm not as familiar with the actual history of those periods.

Deep. I watched something recently that suggested the US is at a critical level of inequality and that paired with high inflation has been the kindling for an ugly blaze in the past. He specifically mentioned the French Revolution which lead to the execution of 17,000 Frenchmen...plenty of artisans, farmers, and yes, revolutionaries got the chop. He suggested that it didn't end until Napolean turned that anger outwards into wars of conquest.
