I would go to some low col area where 150k is more like 200-300k and eat great food, spend my time by the beach and maybe take up a hobby like cooking or learning a language.

Yeah but you can everywhere else in the state. Every other major city outside of the Tri-County area has LCOL suburbs, you'd never have to work another day in your life and neither would your wife deadfuknsrs.

$150k as a single person is very comfortable. As a family that is struggling in desirable parts of the country.

I would say $300k is a reasonable expectation to have a comfortable family life.
