They waited too long to do this movie. Should have come out in the early 2000s imo.

I don't think people remember how campy and cheesy the 80s cartoon was. Rose-colored nostalgia. They went in expecting the 2002 cartoon. Not He-Man Ragnarok. Many subtleties like He-Man PSAing Skeletor about talking out his anger, or the laughing at the end, went over their head. I think it finds finds it's audience on Digital next month.

That trailer looks pure trash. Almost like a spoof.

The post above seems to explain. The 1980s OG cartoon was campy and cheesy, so this movie seems to follow it. I've never watched the 1980s cartoon (or the 2002 cartoon), so I don't know. The movie does have an old-school retro 1980s-ish soundtrack though. They even play Queen at one point

The specifics of why its bad don't even matter. It's just lazy, brainless film making. That trailer is so bad, so cheesy, so standardized. Anyone who watched the trailer then watched the film probably doesn't have two brain cells to rub together.

Because it was a big TV show when I was a kid over 40 years ago-what relevance does it have nowadays? They made a film of it in 1987 & it bombed critically & commercially.

You have to be in your mid 40s to remember that cartoon, it also never got reruns or syndication like other cartoons.

Haven't even seen the trailer. I'm waiting for Mario Miami's Fàg Academy movie to come out.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

If movie had been released in 2020, Calum would have been a prime choice for the role.

The actor they went with is kinda...small....for the role. Cartoon He Man is fuckin yoked!
Cook the man some eggs!

Good choice. If they wanted to stay with a rather small build guy, who actually looked like He-Man, I always thought Brad Pitt should have done it right after wrapping up filming of Troy back in the day.
