Tempted to close in on a deal for a used 105mm 2.8D Micro Lens for 285 bucks. Seems like a steal. Anyone have experience with this lens? Specifically for portraiture?

Few milky way shots from the other night.
This one has Mt Rushmore in it…they usually have a powerful light on it that pollutes the whole area with light but they were working on fixing it so I was able to snag one in.

Sometimes in my area we get free concerts.
Here's some pics i decided to snap last night. Realizing a need to go further than 70mm not just for concert stuff, but for some portrait work aswell. Sick of the distortion and it'd be nice to have some reach…

Hey brahs. I am the OP of this series of threads way back in the day. Ive since taken a step back from social media/internet altogether and been focusing on life. I took some time off of shooting as well, so Im off the band wagon. I recently got lost my camera and gear(stolen). I made a insurance claim for it, and should be reimbursed here shortly.
What would you recommend for me on a budget of around $1500-$2000 total? That includes body, glass, ect. I had a Nikon D3000, and liked it, but Ive held a few cannons and leaning to that direction.
I am currently deployed with the US Navy, so my internet connectivity is really limited(very frustrating). Id really appreciate any advice and guidance in this thread.

I see lots of cheap legacy lenses on flea photography markets that can be adapted to that camera with cheap adaptors so that's a cheap reasonable option imo.

but then again I'm just a hobbyist and I only shoot for fun. Are you shooting as a hobby or professionally?
When you come to think of it, almost all human behaviour and activity is not essentially any different from animal behaviour. The most advanced technologies and craftsmanship bring us, at best, up to the super-chimpanzee level. Actually, the gap between, say, Plato or Nietzsche and the average human is greater than the gap between that chimpanzee and the average human.

Death is impossible for us to fathom: it is so immense, so frightening, that we will do almost anything to avoid thinking about it. Society is organized to make death invisible, to keep it several steps removed. That distance may seem necessary for our comfort, but it comes with a terrible price: the illusion of limitless time, and a consequent lack of seriousness about daily life. We are running away from the one reality that faces us all.

Remember your headlamp will contribute as well, so eithe r turn it off or make sure you're turning your head all around or you'll have a blown out area.

heading out to the alberta rocky mountains this weekend in Canmore. gonna try some serious landscape photography.
bought an 82mm hoya HD CPL filter….$160 damn son. did a 2 day delivery on amazon, should be here on thursday. love love amazon
apparently, this filter is discontinued but none of the stores in canada, even amazon.ca, carries the new HD2 filter. Local stores keep trying to push their PROMASTER brand at a ridiculous price.
