Yep.

& lettuce be reality, even 225 formostpeople is going to take some consistency/dedication. We've all known Chads & genetic freaks that were hitting 375+ junior year of high school, but that isn't the majority.

it took me a while to get to the 225 mark.

my working sets back when i was bulking was 235-265 lbs.

but my sets were 7x3 or 8x2 depending on how close i'd get to 265lbs.

I know it sounds trivial and seriously newbish, but I did learn that as well. I was stuck at 150 (just lol and rot) and I learned how to bench correctly. Changed everything.

Hmmmm. Seems like there is a huge dropoff in terms of reps there. I get that it was a month ago but still. Where is your sticking point on bench (If you have one)?

exactly what helped me. drive my back into the bench and keep my elbows in and it's amazing what our chests can do at that point.

remember guys, chest is a larger muscle group than triceps. use it to bench. dont flare elbows and drive thru legs.

Well, I was just curious at the time, so I started just focusing on 1-2 rep maxes for a few weeks. I then got to 195. I decided to back off that and actually train again, so I dropped the wait and added sets and reps (4 sets of 8-10). I went up from there to 175. I haven't hit a platau yet, so I'm just steadily increasing. My plan is to get to 225 for reps

225 was a huge mental plateau for me, when I finally busted through it seemed like I got to 275 pretty quickly, then I hit the same damn wall for 315. Seemed like every time I'd get close to 3 plates I'd hurt my shoulder and never get it. Finally got 315 with 340 being my best. Usually stick down in the 275-285 range now and haven't tried a max in a long time. In all honesty though seeing guys break 225 with proper form always motivates me because I see a ton of 1/4 rep idiots thinking their 3 plates is impressive

Same - haven't done straight flat bench in a long time. I mainly do incline 185lbs for reps or db press. I work at 90lbs dbs for 8 reps so I presume I could do 100s for at least 4-5 reps. I haven't gone heavy in a long time either. I fukked up my elbows due to poor bench form and my knees working as a contractor installing hardwood floors. I'm all about dat burn now.
