Honestly this. The whole thing with her bday seemed a bit sketch to begin with (regardless of whether she was being dishonest with you or not, there's clearly some trust issues there, and perhaps dishonesty too). Now you're having second thoughts etc.

It's only been 2 months. If any red flags show up before like the 6 month mark of a relationship, it's time to get your ass outta there. It'll only be harder later down the line.

That's fair. I agree that OP shouldn't live with his GF just after 2 months. Even though i did the same thing.

I lived with my wife for years before getting married. It didn't work out. It was horrible and hell for both us. I am not a person that says "I would change or that in the past". It happened. I moved on and learned from my mistakes. We broke up, got back together.

The problem with divorces and marriages. Isn't that you didn't test drive your spouse for a year before hand. It's that the standard of marriage is destroyed. People don't take that marriage vow seriously anymore. I know of marriages that divorce even though they lived with each other past 3 years before getting married. And some that survive.

So that is why I don't recommend test driving the marriage. But build a strong and reinforced standard for marriage itself.

Obviously this circumstance is a bit different, since she's moving back with family. But have all you guys who say "don't move in before two years" taken cost into consideration?

Each pay 1200-1500/mo rent
Each pay $300-500/mo utilities
Cost of gas to visit each other all the time

vs splitting those costs and saving possibly $40k over the course of two years.

If you think the relationship has a good chance of being long term or leading to marriage, dragging out the decision to move in seems sort of silly

When deciding if you and a GF should move in together cost should NEVER be part of the equation.

Its about if you both are at a stage where you actually expect to be together for a LONG time, and 2 months is no where near enough time to know if you want that yet.

I dont care how much money it would save me, think about how much you would spend if you broke up in a month. Breaking the lease, moving again, finding a new place blah blah blah.

You loosing interest is your own self telling you she isnt worth keeping if it means you have to put in a decent effort to be with her. If she isnt worth you taking the time and money to see her over the distance why the hell would you want to move in with her?
