Black Americans seem physically superior yes. Despite hardships and body stats that would make it harder for them to succeed against whites (swimming) they still excel. Truly remarkable group of people.

Perhaps this is why white Americans are so obsessed and fascinated with them.

I've heard it hypothesized that it's partly a result of back when slavery was happening, the strongest and fittest men were chosen (for obvious reasons) which has basically lead to selective breeding towards what is now the modern African-American populace.

Not sure if this is completely true but it makes sense

Selective breeding takes a lot more than a few decades. It would take generations of breeding for it to happen. Just because you have a strong male and female, doesn't mean the child will be strong as well.

Not to mention, they are more entertaining to watch by the majority because they bring the games to the whole new level. It has to do with genetics.

Since AA came from West Africa so look at West Africans compared to the rest of Africa. All the West are ripped and athletic whereas the east Africans have malnourished looking body (hence, dominate on marathons).

It's hard to say that the OP is right when this post is accurate too. The best way to word what you're saying OP is to say African Americans are great athletes, but to say the best in the world is an overstatement.

Plus you're including mixed cultures as if they're only black. I'm pretty sure A Rod considers himself Latino and not black. Same with Latinos that are white (they consider themselves Hispanic not white or black). Tiger is also mixed.

There are so many departments and different sports in each that to make a blank statement that one is best group is ridiculous. If anything the Olympians would be the best measure to go by

Slave owners probably did not do much selective breeding. However the Middle passage from Africa to the New World was incredibly stressful on the slaves, 40% died just getting here. The 60% that survived would have been the strongest 60% that would have passed on their genes. Although I've never seen any studies, my theory is that people of West African decent have higher test levels than other races, and Asians have lower test levels. Which would help explain the physical and mental differences

Slavery (initial selection of slaves, further selection via disease on the journey, further selection once living as slaves) may be partially responsible, but only partially. West African genetics and western nutrition and access to training plays a very large role.

Look at the worlds fastest mens 100 meter times (perhaps the most 'democratic' sport given it requires the least in terms of special facilities or equipment for training). Totally and completely dominated by people of West African descent. Higher proportion of fast twitch muscle fibers and longer limbs relative to torso means they will, given access and numbers, eventually dominate sports that heavily rely on fast twitch muscles.

But they'll suck, at the elite level, at sports that emphasize slow twitch muscle fibers. Take marathon running, where a different gene pool dominates - that of East Africans.

Or swimming, where West African genetics essentially shuts them out of the elite due to smaller lung capacity and greater muscle density.

And then there are strength sports where upper body strength plays a huge factor, e.g., shot put, and these tend to be dominated by Europeans.

Of course, none of these things can be openly discussed in politically correct society, even though everyone who watches sports (or played sports in mixed racial groups) is familiar with the phenomenon. Hell, just watch the NFL combines and note the differences in who dominates 40yd dash vs the bench press. But we're supposed to believe that different gene pools produce exactly the same humans, with only the most superficial differences of skin, hair or eye color or shape, etc.

This selective breeding is a myth. It has never been approved nor did it ever exist. Slave masters werent feeding their slaves, 3 solid meals a day. They were feeding them at least as possible and making them work as hard as possible. If the selective breeding did exist, than the next 200 years of random breeding would have undone everything.

If you actually look at sports/olympics, Blacks and Whites basically White Europe (Russia and Eastern Bloc) and Black America were neck and neck at nearly everything.

The difference occurred around the 80s when the Soviet Union collapsed and Americans had no real competition in the cell tech warfare and had an open slate to do whatever they want. This is the real difference.

If Russia had 300 million plus people, first class nation along with their pharmaceutical knowledge, they would easily match the Americans if not better them.

African Americans are the decendants of slaves... which were hand picked for being the biggest and strongest Africans for working. Also, the slaves that survived were those who could escape and run the fastest away form their slave oweners.... so thats why they are good athletes.

You missed the point, I'm taking a sample of 70 million blacks, you're comparing that to what multiple hundreds of millions of whites?

And you contradict yourself, Brady, Gronk, Watt might be the best for now but NFL is 70% black, while 70% of the US population is white.
