It's too small. Too underpowered to be considered a sports car IMO. Lots of better options at that price point.

The thing I am debating is whether or not I should even buy a new car. But if I were to buy one, it would more than likely be an S3. When I saw it in person something inside of me just clicked and said I have to own one. The only other car that did that for me was a RS4 and back then I could not dream of affording one.

I actually really like S5s as well. But I can't afford the price of a new one yet am extremely weary of buying used. Especially something like an Audi. Looked around actually and most of them near me have ridiculously high mileage for cars that are only a few years old.

Audis are good cars, these days at least. Very sturdy and their AWD is the best in the industry. They're not the mechanical nightmares they were in the early to mid 2000s. But the S3 is just too damn small for that money. Even the A6 for example, you have very limited back seat space compared to say the 5 series.

I actually prefer smaller sedans over large ones. Something like a BMW 5 series would be way to big for me. A Mercedes C class would be the largest sedan I would go for.

all of the guys saying no and talking crap about the car are BROKE

Its a nice car OP, 0 to 60 in 4.5 secs, looks great, AWD, the seats in the diamond leather pattern are unreal.

Wood drive. BMW 3 series, boring, not as fast. Mercedes C class is contender but $10k more. BMW M2 = $10k more.

Buy it.

Wasting money on a chitty, peasant tier "sports car" will teach you nothing and cost you a lot of money just to feed into the fantasy of owning a real performance piece which the S3 is not. Instead, use what you can't have now as motivation to do better or learn to be content with what you have.

Yeah like I have been saying I see BMWs everywhere every single day. They are so common for being an expensive car it is crazy to think about. For that reason I would never buy one, unless it was a M3 but those are way too expensive for me to ever own. The only other contender for me would be a Mercedes C class. I like the way they look but they are more luxury than sports oriented. I think Audis strike the perfect balance.

Then go for it. Test it out, I'm sure you'll like it. In its respective classes, to me the Audis are the most enjoyable cars to drive. If you're looking for a good driving car, it won't let you down. The handling and AWD for example... BMW and Mercedes can't even touch.

To me an Audi S3 is a really nice car and would satisfy my fantasy of owning a high end car. I know to some people a $45k car is "peasant tier" but to me it is a realistic dream car that I could actually own and not be scared to drive everyday.

I agree with all of this although the 135i is a decent alternative in that price range (just too phucking small). And the S3 is leaps and bounds better than any of the C class alternatives.

Every car can be peasant tier all the way up until you can afford a Pagani or Koeniggseg. It's a decent price range for someone who wants a daily driver that's not just an A to B car. It seems like you want something foreign but I would not overlook the American options in that price range. The Dodge Challenger R/T SCAT can be found in that price range if that's your thing.

I'd rather get a Golf R. And I've been around both the S3 and R to know that for sure.

Same car, sharing the MQB platform. Same powertrain, and I think same Haldex front wheel biased AWD system with open diffs. Understated, blends right in, humble VW badge, won't draw attention/inconspicuous for the most part with just the mean quad exhaust set up it's got going on in the rear. I'd get the DSG and just do an APR Stage 1 flash for easy power that was left on the table by the conservative stock tune. 300awhp/350awtq I think the Stage 1 gives it. Plenty to have fun ripping out from digs in mostly unsuspecting hatch and put a hurting on almost everything. And the farts/mini sonic booms between shifts with DCT/DSG transmissions in a lot of the German cars is so hnnng lmao.

But being partial to Ford...Focus RS...Focus RS...Focus RS...

Yeah I am looking for a car that I could use everyday, be practical yet still have the styling and performance to scratch the itch I have. I think Audis and Mercedes both look fantastic but Audis probably give a better sensation of driving experience. I know everyone says that BMW 3 series are the driver's car to own but they are so common that it loses some of its appeal.

same car with 3k miles on it selling for 37k lmao. You could probably get that for 35K all day. 90% of cars depreciate, Why would you buy a brand new car knowing you are losing money after 1 year? Let me ask you this question, If you walked into a bank tomorrow with 45k and gave it to the teller to deposit and she said after 1 year when you come back you will only have 35K in the account, would you still put the money in? OR take the cash back home? Do your self a favor and keep your current car.

A glimpse into the future if you buy one. You talk about buying a 911, 2014 Corvette Stingrays are in the $50k range used, give it another 6 months and they will cost the same as this S3, and Chevy V8s are bulletproof.

that's why you gotta go certified pre owned. Friend got a two yo s line a5 with the 3.0t low miles and extended bumper to bumper. Great deal on a great car

Yeah but me saying I wanted to buy a 911 was just a childhood fantasy. In reality it would be too impractical to own something like that to drive everyday. Unless you had a bunch of cars for different needs. But for owning just one car to use everyday I would definitely just get a sports sedan.

but check out the M2 it's gonna hold value much better than a new S3. Maybe even hold value like that recent 1M did.

How bout an E92 M3 instead? They're actually surprisingly reliable long term, go to any track and you will see E36 and E46 M3s being raced every weekend, whereas 90s Audis have all disappeared off the roads. You could get a good one with DCT for around $40k. My dad has one and I have helped him maintain it, it's easy to work on, fun as hell to drive, and I have seen many instances on forums of guys getting to at least 120k miles on regular maintenance alone

HE DOESNT WANT a 2 dr sports car with no room, its not practical as a daily driver, thus the 4 door S3

LOL @ comparing focus RS and STI, yea cool 6 speed manual everyday in traffic, brb poverty interiors compared to S3, not even the same class
