I think he was about to try and apologise but she immediately went into litigation mode, as if a backseat passenger who doesn't exactly have mirrors has any hope of ever seeing a cyclist flying up the inside gutter. Cyclists should be extra wary of cabs, car drivers might look in the mirrors before they open the door but how many passengers will when a car is parked near the curb? Coming in here I wanted to go off on most of the people commenting. BUT I know better. Its the internet and it wont solve anything anyways. SO ..Cyclist ride in the road because we can. Its allowed,especially when there are no bike lanes. AND if you have ever ridden on the shoulders/bike lanes you also know they are full of trash,nails,screws,wire,glass,etc.THEY dont keep them clean. I pay taxes. I also expect people to drive like they have some common sense and care about anothers life..ALTHOUGH I never rely on that. Maybe you should get out of your jap FastNfurrious Autozone decorated 5k$ junk cars and hop on a bike. Maybe ride the roads and see how bad it can be instead of crying like a bunch of millennial self entitled bi&*hs..AND if you are brave enough to intentionally hit a cyclist like one of you lil kids commented....YOU better be real sure you kill him because I guarantee you, that person will give you want you deserve...NOW i wait for the insults,threats,and juvenile backlash..

I have to be in professional dress so can't imagine cycling a few blocks in the summer because I'd still be sweating my balls off. We don't have a shower at my work place. I almost feel bad for Mormons in their stuffy clothes riding around in our humid summer lol

If I had the option to only cycle 15-20min to work I'd try take it; of course not when it's ****ing raining. Cardio out the way with, easy to avoid traffic, no parking hassles etc. Good cities will have very accessible bike paths too., However, it would have to be pretty close to work, and I do rage are cyclists who act they have priority over cars.

I would love to have a job close enough to ride a bike to. My neighbor works like 8km from home and spent 3k on a mountain bike and it's pretty cool.

Im going to go with the opposite. If you are a cyclist then it's not worth riding a short distance to work to deal with the hassle of showering and whatnot at work. But if you can get a 30min + ride in to work then it's worth it.

We have a lot of guys here who drive but bring their bikes in for a lunch ride. I'd do that but yea showering in the middle of the day is a hassle.

The thing with cycling is if you do fast group rides or race, it takes a lot of time to train and keep your fitness up. So if you can get miles in commuting or on lunch then it saves you a lot of time.

I work with Physicians and pharmacists that cycle to work. They live close to the hospital, its a nice change of pace as suppose to driving and cycling is fun. It gives you the chance to get some fresh air especially if you're in a job where you arrive at work when its dark and clock out when its dark.

Hate to say it but seems like she deserved it. Shes obviously not hurt but wants them to shell out money for her bike and suffering. Im sure some people would see it as the dudes fault but imo this is just a risk you assume cycling.

I have a $700 bicycle. To me the threat of being run over or it stolen takes a lot of the fun out of it. All you guys on motorcycles and bikes need to understand that a huge number of drivers are on drugs or alcohol or they are incompetent or mental. You need the protection of a car around you.

Cyclist may not legally be to 'blame' but as I said, there is no point being in the right but critically injured. It's ****ing obvious that rear seat passengers have no rear vision mirrors and even if they craned their heads back they have little vision from a rear seat and lets be honest most won't, a lot of rear seat passengers are obviously going to be elderly or kids or in the case of taxis they'll be passengers and on the curb side who the hell would be checking for a bike doing the trench run down the gutter? So yes, continue to be 'perfectly legal' while risking serious injury or worse. #winning? No. Retarded.
