"Carter did not touch the child since photojournalists were "told not to touch famine victims for fear of spreading disease". Carter had also estimated that people were dying at the rate of twenty per hour at the food center and regarded the girl and her condition as unexceptional."

My great grandma was 103-105 srs lol (grandma claims 107, but she loves to talk big).. But I dont think she had any problems like that, she was just completely bed ridden and couldnt speak (not too sure about any medical conditions she had).
It was sad though, If I ever got to that age and was in that state, I'd just prefer to get euthanized. Was kind of relieved for her when she passed because if she was aware of everything around her, it would have been a horrible way to live.

This is precisely why thinking about retirement from the day you turn 18 is important- so you've saved enough money you're not forced to live in some chit-tier retirement housing.
No one my age thinks about it. They don't let retirement systems affect job decisions, pensions mean nothing to them, 401k is just a number. And I'll have no sympathy when they're 3ft in water after a hurricane.
The people in that picture, I do sympathize with. They grew up in an entirely different era without the same opportunity for saving retirement money outside of federal pension plans.

It's fukkin fake brahs
Have you ever been around old people? - they sit with blankets on them in the sunshine and they're still cold. You let them sit in floodwater for an hour they'd be dead of hypothermia before the hour was out

Obviously nobody knows the circumstances here but there are plenty of parents who deserve to rot alone. You telling me you know the guy in that pic didn't rape his kids? Sad on the surface sure, but don't be so quick to judge others when you have no idea of the circumstances.

That pic is sickening.

Assuming that your parents weren't human trash, why wouldn't you care for them when they needed it most. After all, they raised you and now it's time to return the favor.
I wouldn't leave my dog with most of the nursing homes I've seen. Even the ones costing thousands of dollars a month were not where I would want my mother to have lived out her final days.
That doesn't make me holier than thou, it makes me a compassionate son.
