It was sad though, If I ever got to that age and was in that state, I'd just prefer to get euthanized. Was kind of relieved for her when she passed because if she was aware of everything around her, it would have been a horrible way to live.
She was in her late 80's she passed away within two years, it was sad to see her like that, my Grandpa was always frustrated because she wouldn't recognize anyone and mumble to herself, but we still treated her like normal, brought her to family gatherings and such, never excluded her or shunned her. My Grandpa is now 88, he lives in Mexico with my auntie, but comes to the US and stays for 6mo, house is fully elderly prepared. We have a Great Grand aunt thats 109 that still goes on her day like normal, lives by herself (next door to family) that cooks in a wooden stove and washes clothes by hand.

This is precisely why thinking about retirement from the day you turn 18 is important- so you've saved enough money you're not forced to live in some chit-tier retirement housing.

No one my age thinks about it. They don't let retirement systems affect job decisions, pensions mean nothing to them, 401k is just a number. And I'll have no sympathy when they're 3ft in water after a hurricane.

The people in that picture, I do sympathize with. They grew up in an entirely different era without the same opportunity for saving retirement money outside of federal pension plans.
"Seen in the light of evolution, biology is, perhaps, intellectually the most satisfying and inspiring science. Without that light it becomes a pile of sundry facts -- some of them interesting or curious but making no meaningful picture as a whole."

Nah no source, so maybe it is fake. Just saying what I heard on the Reddit thread. It's been pretty solid lately.

Obviously nobody knows the circumstances here but there are plenty of parents who deserve to rot alone. You telling me you know the guy in that pic didn't rape his kids? Sad on the surface sure, but don't be so quick to judge others when you have no idea of the circumstances.

Reminds me of the family that took out an obit for their mother celebrating her demise.

Survival. When the jungle tears itself down and builds itself into something new. Guys like you and me, we end up dead. Doesn’t really mean anything. Or, if we happen to live through it, well that doesn’t mean anything either.

Not at all, it wasn't my intention to make that point. Just stating a fact as I know it to be.

Assuming that your parents weren't human trash, why wouldn't you care for them when they needed it most. After all, they raised you and now it's time to return the favor.

I wouldn't leave my dog with most of the nursing homes I've seen. Even the ones costing thousands of dollars a month were not where I would want my mother to have lived out her final days.

That doesn't make me holier than thou, it makes me a compassionate son.
