WTF at this picture taken during Hurricane Harvey *feels*






Cottdamn this pic hit me hard. Guy claims its in a senior home, so they were too sick or old to travel? fukk mayne .. strong piece of chit family that throws their parents into a senior home. Worse, they didnt even bother coming to get them outta there.


Wouldnt see this kind of behavior in an asian/indian family srs.

Same here. American but my family came over from Italy. We took care of my grandmother and my mother until the end. We don't put our sick and our old into homes for strangers to care for or possibly abuse.

My grandmother had a stroke, lost the ability to talk, my Mom built her a bedroom in her home, and moved her in.

That's how you take care of the elderly.

You do realize China has enacted laws against elder neglect? Because this type of thing is a problem there.

The bottom line is this: You are responsible for yourself. If you live near a coast, you should plan in advance for a hurricane evacuation. Only a fool would leave it up to her friends, family, or luck to be rescued.

I pray I've left my family enough money that they can put me into a retirement home when I'm old and a danger to myself. Can't imagine the shame of having to have my children or grandchildren watch me 24/7 so I don't burn the house down or wander off. Would be even worse if they had to bathe me or clean me up because I chit myself.

Yep ... My Great Grandma, who couldnt speak and was bed ridden was looked after at her sons place, and then when he couldnt do it, my grandma brought her to her place and she lived there till she died.

On my dad's side, my dad and his brothers/sister just hired a full time nurse and grandma with her daughter and grand-daughter next door to our apartment until she needed to be hospitalised and even then, the family pretty much took shift duty all day/night so that she was never alone at the hospital for her final days.

My Grandpa did the same with my Great Grandma, she had dementia and alzhaimers, didn't recognize anyone, would just do of the wall chit, they kept her home, when she lost her mobility they still took care of her, we even took turns reading to her. You don't throw away family when they become disabled.

My great grandma was 103-105 srs lol (grandma claims 107, but she loves to talk big).. But I dont think she had any problems like that, she was just completely bed ridden and couldnt speak (not too sure about any medical conditions she had).

It was sad though, If I ever got to that age and was in that state, I'd just prefer to get euthanized. Was kind of relieved for her when she passed because if she was aware of everything around her, it would have been a horrible way to live.
