This is the straight dope right here ^

The twenty-something brain still doesn't know what is best. I know because I've been through those years with many other people.

You think you'll look good and bang young sloots forever but let me tell ya...you're no different than anyone. You'll age, get ugly and if you didn't raise a family, you'll be lonely.

Forget women, kids, friends, relationships, just earn money and fap to porn. Then come on the misc and complain about the work>sleep>work life when you're 40. Isn't life grand.

I've got two kids, one boy, one girl, wouldn't trade a minute of watching them grow up and become the individuals they are. They are the greatest thing I've ever done in my life. Yes its expensive and scary and you'll never worry more about anyone more in you life, but when you watch them succeed at something like sports or school the amount of joy and pride you'll feel can't be duplicated. My kids make me laugh all the time and having them has made me a better person.

Are there any logical, unselfish reasons to have kids. I don't think there are.

Didn't want kids till I had a kid crew.

The thought of the cost, extra responsibility, loss of freedom, etc made me nearly sick to my stomach. The first time I held my daughter though I knew there wasn't a thing in the world I cared about more than her. A lot of older brahs told me how much my mindset would change once I had a kid, wish I'd listened to them more and avoided a lot of unnecessary stress and anxiety. I'm still glad we waited until our later 20s when we were more financially stable, I could definitely see things being harder when you're having to worry about money for bills to get paid and putting food on the table.

Parenting isn't always easy though, and it's not for everyone. I'll never judge someone for deciding not to have kids.

I thought that was until I get older.

You have a duty to your family, and your roots, to have children.

Don't be a numale - new age *******.

I used to be like you saying I don't want kids, but after really sitting down and thinking about it, life in my 30's and 40's would be really boring without kids, without anyone to pass on all the knowledge I've accumulated to or anyone to teach about life, to teach them all the things no-one ever taught me as a kid like how to build a fire, fix a car, deal with girls, be confident etc but more importantly because it would be completing the cycle of life moving from the role of student to teacher

Do not want daughters tho **** THAT

These. The first few months were fuking nightmarish and I did regret having a kid, but as my son grows older I can't comprehend life without him. I can be in a rage or depressed as he'll and the sight of him just waddling into the room can put a smile on my face. Now I'm glad I have him, because he's becoming easier to manage and he's learning more and more, and I know whatever life changes, divorce or whatever, hed still be my son and if still be his dad and that's all I need.

We're pretty happy not having kids. My parents don't really care because my younger sister had a kid but my wifes father is a real piece of ****. Fuker gave her the line "well, why do I need to go out and doing anything with my life? It's not like I have a grand kid to keep living on for." She cried a lot over that comment and ever since then, I wouldn't be upset to find out he's drank himself to death or eaten a bullet. He supposedly made it sound like he was going to kill himself a couple years ago when her mom came into the living room and found him playing with a shotgun...drunk and babbling about wanting to shoot the TV and then "joked" about shooting himself. I'll be glad when he's gone...he's just as disgusting and toxic as his father was.
are you actually me? I live in Columbia, 1 year older than you, no kids, wife's dad is a similar type of guy who says hateful crap to everyone in the family. Also drinks, also jokes about his guns and shooting himself. That was crazy when I just read your post. We also talk about adoption and how it is $30,000 to do it....its crazy. You would think the government would PAY YOU that much money to adopt a kid.

Childfree here. Children are just not for me. They have never been for me, they will never be for me.

I've never looked at a couple with children and felt wistful or as if it were anything I hoped for. I don't feel jealous or bitter, but I don't feel happy either. They're just people small people who eventually become big people. I was like this as a child as well, never played "Mommy" or had baby dolls.

My family's gene pool needed a lifeguard a long time ago. I'm on like my fifth time battling cancer or some chit, my birth mother is schizophrenic. Nah I'm sweet bro. It should be criminal for me to reproduce.

I like my sleep and money.

Most importantly, I don't want to raise a child. There is nothing less I would like to do, ever. I'd be an amazing Mom and would want what's best for my child in everything. But want my all for me.

I am living my truth - and my truth is an empty womb.

You do you, OP. Not wanting them is the best reason anyone can give. Not that you ever need to give anyone a reason for such things.

WOW. What a terrible human being. How could someone be so insensitive to say that to their own child? Your poor wife.

It you/your spouse (yes I said spouse - I don't think people should have kids outside of wedlock) can't physically have a kid, that's just the way the dice roll. If there are other legit reasons you would choose not to have any, then fine. But people who rant about being "childfree" are the ultimate edgelords.

The future is shaped by those who have children, not average people who are more concerned about being able to afford their yearly vacations to Cancun. If you're a halfway decent parent, you'll realize there's more to life than yourself when you have kids.

LOL crazy. On recharge but would rep unintentional life twin.

I get why adoption is so expensive because they're trying recover as much money as they spent on housing, food, medical etc... but damn you'd seriously think with how many kids need a good home they'd really be throwing money at people to take them!

Thanks. It was pretty brutal and I could see how crushed she was to hear that. She and her dad used to be very close, like best buddies when she was growing up because her mom was in the Army and always working or away from home. He wanted so many things for her that she just did not like or want and eventually drove them apart because he couldn't control her goals and desires. Turned him into a bitter piece of chit.

Some of us eventually grow up and realize that there's more to life than annual Mexican vacations and cruise ship getaways.
