You might find this article interesting - it turns out that our internal alarm clock is FAR more accurate than we previously thought. If your alarm is set the same time every day and you wake a few minutes before it, that's your body waking you naturally vs the jolt of an alarm clock. If you find yourself sleeping till the alarm a few days in a row, that's your body choosing a few more minutes of sleep, even at the cost of being woken by an alarm... pretty clear sign that you need more rest.

That's very interesting, but hard to believe in my case because I routinely only get about 5 hours of sleep. Maybe my body is just used to that much sleep? Would probably go into overload if I actually got the recommended 8 hrs every night, lulz.

Makes a lot of sense though. It's rare that the alarm clock wakes me up from a dead sleep.

I really need to join this crew. Always envision myself training early in the day but never can get myself up for it.

It's not fun if you're an afternoon trainer. It takes a solid month to really transition. Once you get there though, you won't want to go back. It's great having it out of the way for the day.

Love or hate Greg Plitt this video is awesome, it was what pushed me to start lifting at 5am. Did it for an entire year or more. Still do mornings sometimes, but do evenings as well now. Lift at home crew.

First 2 min 40 seconds is what I'm referring to

Definitely not as good as the gym, somehow not the same feeling as getting in that zone.

But then again I haven't really be pushing maxes or running a very regimented program. I used to powerlift with the boys in college and a bit after, but nowadays I just do reps. I just did incline bench with 185, 5x5 today, plus some accessory type stuff with dumbbells. I got 50lbs adjustable dumbbells, it's not great but good enough to put in some work when I don't want to leave the house.

Tbh 2014-15 was the last year I ran a serious program and went on a major cut. Sitting in bearmode 20%bf right now, but it's all good i'll get back to it. Chit is bananas in my personal and professional life, but this is the year I reel it back in, i got plans. The good news is I know how to program and I know how to do nutrition right. In the past when I stuck to a program and ate right, the results have come fast and strong so I'm optimistic.

5am walked the dogs, 5:40 yoga.

These 30 days of yoga vids are pretty humbling. Ive never been good about stretching or mobility. My hips are piss but I'm already seeing benefits. That's it for the workouts this week, once I'm not so sore I'll add lifting back in.

I found this on Amazon Prime video, so if you're a prime member it's free, check it out.

Been hoping to lift on top of it but for now it's taking all my time & energy but whatever - flexibility season at Casa Bourbon, I ain't mad at it.

I know that feel bruh. Garage gym crew so I go back inside to shower/shave, but some mornings I'm sweating by the time I get to the car. Cold showers seem to help for core temp, ever try that? Also nice when I have a few minutes to sit on the couch with a shake post-workout and just wind down, but that's time I don't have too often these days.

Not usually, especially in this frigin winter. Summer time I do sometimes however. My sweats could be attributed to "other" factors however.

Gotcha.

Getting lifts in early is my only option now, so I'll be joining this crew.

One thing I've noticed from occasionally lifting in the early mornings at my gym is how courteous everyone is. Easily the crowd with the best etiquette as far as wiping down machines, and reracking weights.

About a year and a half ago I was on the 6am train every weekend, sat and sun. Then I tried going at 5am during the week. Felt good to get up and lift first thing, but I felt like garbage all day at work probably bc I would take massive amounts of pre workout. Only lasted two weeks before I went back to training after work.

This is very true. The level of douchebaggery is nearly non existent. I mean at my gym its typically me, and 2-4 middle aged to senior citizens. Plus the MILF fitness class that starts at 6AM, but I only catch that on my way out because I'm done around 6-615.

Can confirm. I'm garage gym crew now but when I was going to a commercial gym at 5:30am I thought it was the best gym ever. Went once after work and the vibe was TOTALLY different.

These daily yoga vids are intense. My hips are going take some time, BUT I can touch my toes now! I'm making g progress but each new vid ramps up the difficulty, so each new workout is a stretch (sorry).

It's a 30 day Challenge, excited to see where I end up.

Mind sharing the yoga program you are running? I feel like something structured like a 30 day plan would be easier to follow. Lord knows my mobility is garbage. About how long is each session? Thanks man.
