*** this argument works both ways.......
I dont tell people what to believe. I personally believe in a loving God that wants happiness and peace for us. I accept Christ as my savior that he died so I could be forgiven.

Let me ask you have you ever felt a presence you couldnt explain? Have you ever had a complex event happen that if even one small detail had been different the outcome would have been wildly different? Have you ever seen something so bad that it challenged your psychological defenses, that your brain had trouble registering what you were seeing, that you felt a glimpse of what hell must be like? By that same token have you ever seen something so pure and beautiful that you felt calm a feeling of safety like a heaven would be?

Anyway personally for me those are some reasons I believe in God.

Then why not say that instead of the weird, "you stole a viewpoint" chit you said lol?

You knew his argument but decided to not address it and instead make it about using your words against you and claiming, "stolen viewpoint".

Just a weird debate/argument tactic.
Belief without evidence is a fools game.

Possibly God, possibly nothing, probably doesn't matter.
I believe the people arguing about religion are idiots, you cannot prove that there is or is not a God. All we know is that something started this, and it takes as much faith to assume it was created by the big bang theory as it does to believe it was made by an all powerful God.
Believe what you want but do not judge other's for their beliefs, and do not judge a Christian based on what other Christians have done.

No way to know for sure but this model implies that there may have been multiple "big bang" events because its cyclical.

Depends what you mean by nothing. Space is not nothing. In space, there are (or rather, there are believed to be) quantum fluctuations, which produce particles.

Anyway, those of you that mention God, please understand that we can ask similar questions of God. What type of structure is God? How does it relate to mathematical/logical structures? Does it physically exist? Does a question like "where does God come from" make sense?

The beginning of time is unfathomable. It's impossible to prove how the universe began unless a God, or THE God, told you about it.

But it makes me think, before the creation of anything...what did God do if He exists? He would have literally sat and stared and done nothing for a reverse-INFINITE amount of time before deciding on creation.
Stop it. Get some help.

not really, god is an all powerfull and creator, if you believe that is, so no need for math/logical structures, its based on faith

If God is capable of thinking and reasoning, then it would seem that math/logic would transcend even God. Don't you agree?

Even God would be constrained by logic. God cannot make a contradiction true. In fact, if God existed and contemplated mathematical structures, he would find an everlasting supply of structures to explore.

but religion isnt based on facts u can 100% prove, its based on faith, you believe in something all powerfull that created us and known universe, science is based on facts and fact is science has no clear evidence how everything came to by, only theories, andanyone can make up a theory
Lol.... yeah, just like the THEORY of gravity.

If you have no idea what the terminology you are using actually means...it doesn't exactly bode well for your argument and shows that you are trying to discuss something beyond your intellect. I am not saying you are not intelligent, but gaining some intellect in the field in which your opinion lies might help you to also further your own understanding.

God isnt - exactly - as mans religious texts have dumbed him down to be. They had to do that because people were so dumb relative to todays understanding of the world.

But to answer your question you would never ask this of the sun, a tree, the wind. Im not really able to answer your question i mean no one is but I believe God functions in an abstract way like when it rains. Something like that but x1 million more complicated.

I guess it comes down to two schools of thought. Mainstream science will tell you that 'matter' came first and that consciousness evolve from matter. Then there is also this idea that a universal consciousness was the first and matter was conjured from some kind of consciousness - this is obviously extremely hard to prove and anyone who talks on it starts to get very deep into metaphysics, often were philosophy and science accompany each other quite harmoniously in ideas and is often the driving force behind our scientific understanding of our reality.

Just remember that science isn't about KNOWING.... it's about ruling out the NOT KNOWING. Religion claims to KNOW without just cause and in doing so it quite literally closes off the mind to external information that would challenge it - at least this is the goal. Subscribing to ANY ideology, be it religion, atheism .. fukin Scientology.. you are completely limiting brain, especially as it starts to truly believe these things and form your known reality around you.

How did our atoms develop consciousness ? think about how complex that is. If everything science says then things have been predestined since the big bang.

From where I'm sitting, we really have no way to make any meaningful definition of God. We can make sense of what we mean by the observable universe, but there is no definition for God. We don't even have effective relational definitions to work with! Saying God is the dude who created the universe is so loaded with unfounded assumptions, such as that the universe was created, that there was a dude responsible for it, and that there ought to be a single causal structure of time here that predates our universe. If nobody even knows what God is, in even the most basic sense, then how are we going to sit here and act like that is any type of useful explanation for what the universe was like at the time of the big bang, or what structure, if any, the universe is embedded in?

You can see a trend for how consciousness came to be if you look at the evolutionary lineages of lifeforms that came before animals. It is very complex indeed, and the emergent properties of consciousness itself from neuronal tissue are still poorly understood. To your second point: Only classically...Indeed, in GR, we live in a 4 dimensional universe, and there is no meaningfully objective way to define the entire "present" of the universe. Rather, the past, present, and future are all "written" in a giant "shape" if you will. This, unfortunately, turns out to be completely wrong. Your computer is working because this theory is probably wrong. The best models we have now allow for a kind of indeterminacy. In these quantum models of the universe, outcomes are not predetermined/fixed, but are rather randomly generated from a set of possibilities dictated by the properties of mathematical structures and are measured and determined by the observer. Yet, the entire system still remains consistent for all observers. Quantum theory is the best model we have to explain our universe right now. Now, currently, there is no viable, complete theory to explain how all the fundamental forces were unified during the early periods of the universe, and there is absolutely nothing to explain what happened in the earliest periods of the big bang. Our entire notions of space and time may be completely wrong for this era, and that's what some physicists have suggested now.

nothing we say will help you understand as its all based on faith, reasons why i believe are similar to what miscer above said, some things in life that just made me think and feel there are higher things, rather than i see some facts how God began and created everything

What was there before the big bang was always there. There was no "before" because time only began after the big bang. So the blank canvas so to speak always existed outside of the constraints of time. It is literally infinity.

My view on God is that God is all powerful and all knowing. We cannot begin to comprehend what God has done or how the universe truly works. Plus thinking about at the level you're suggesting is extremely difficult and far beyond what I think most miscers can have a conversation about. I'm not an idiot either, I got a bs in mathematics, and our senior classes were with grad students too. General relativity is the closest class I took to this conversation, and its not something easy to understand or even talk about.

the very concept of time as we know it breaks down when you try to visualize the universe before the big bang.

in relativity space and time are different aspects of the same thing. the universe before the big bang exists entirely as time, or rather, this reference frame is describing all matter wave energy in the universe projected along the time like axis of space-time geometry.
