The world is a ton different than it was thousands of years ago. People crying over everything, men are becoming soft, suddenly the news cares about what outfit Kim Kardashian had on today... its honestly a chit show, why would anyone want to bring the stress of caring for another human?

I get different people have different lifestyles and purposes, but the point of this post was to prove that having kids at a younger age will hold you back in today's society and economy.

Kids can be such little annoying crapheads, and I want to learn to love myself before I try to raise and love a kid.

No it won't. It will only hold you back if you aren't fit to have children.

Spending time and money on children will hold you back from society and the economy? I don't even understand what you're trying to say.

Will it hold you back from a selfish lifestyle? Yes

Otherwise, No.

Lmao. My dad and his brother were adopted. His biological dad was very abusive and my (now) grandfather has been a savior to his family. I asked my grandfather what his peak in life was and he told me it was saving my dad, his brother, and mom from the other guy.

I believe you can peak multiple times in different aspects of your life.

I'm not, I support OP if he doesn't want kids. I just think saying that they hold you back is phucking stupid. You've been hardwired through evolution to reproduce.

Not sure. My situation it's working out.

Started having kids late 20s, been makin 6 figs since mid 20s, married and we do a ton. I took a risk by leaving a giant global company of 80,000+ employees to be part of a startup where I can build an empire. I still gym, have date nights, vacation - wife and I went to Ireland for two weeks last year while parents watched the kiddos. Next up will be a family vaca to disneyworld.

I'm turning 31 this year.

There's nothing bad about living a selfish lifestyle. It's better to be honest with yourself rather than find out later that you hate it. At that point you've ruined two lives, both yours and the child's. The reason people with kids will sometimes get russled during this discussion is because kidless people will accuse you of just coping and that its impossible for you to actually enjoy having kids. Thats simply not true.

Here's the deal with today's gen... they aren't prepared. Period. Pre-90's, kids moved out of the house around 16-18 years old, striking it out on their own because back then, it was possible to do so. Hell, in the early 90's I paid out-of-pocket tuition costs at a state university working for min-wage full-time in the summer, part-time in the Fall/Spring semester. That was making $4.25/hr back then. In-state tuition cost for the University of Arizona was under $1000/semester. 2br/1ba apartment was $425/mo. Was cheaper to live off-campus than dorm.

Today's gen couldn't boil their own water. Also, since instant gratification of pretty much everything at their fingertips, they have no work ethic, they are narcissistic since social media tech, live in their parent's basement until their early 30's, me me me attitude, SJW because of "dem feels", no real perspective of the world, the list goes on.

I feel sorry for any kid born in this day and age to young parents. They don't have their own chit together, how are they suppose to raise little ones? I see more and more grandparents raise their grand-children because the birth parents can't or flat out refuse to raise them.
I'm not blessed with riches, but I am rich with blessings.
Thank you, LORD, my God.

You definitely can't be selfish when you have kids. I want to start putting $5k per year into an education account for her. $5k per year to dump into an education account is no fun.

We really don't need billions and billions more people. They tended to have more kids back then because infant mortality was high and more kids = more helping hands, but now there's no benefit, only costs, and the government has done a great job of making life generally expensive.

Technology, instant gratification, inflation, and college costs screw a lot of people in this generation. I was lucky enough to get out of college debt free.. however, I have friends who are 40-50k in debt from these huge schools making 40k less than me and getting r*ped by those bills (I went to a pretty low-key college). The tuition costs are insane these days, think you can work a part time job and pay for school? Think again. With the inflation rate of tuition costs, people out of college are scared to move out and take on even more costs. The new "norm" seems to be heading into "being in debt", which can end up leading to more government assistance in the future aka heading straight towards a government controlled country.

Also I would not generalize that millennials don't have a good work ethic like your generation does. We have a DIFFERENT work ethic, with a more entrepreneurial approach to problems and projects. Since we're really the first generation to grow up with cellphones and advanced microprocessing technology, we have to think ahead and in different ways.

People aren't fungible. While its true that many -- maybe most -- people are a net drain, that's not a universal. The question is whether you trust yourself to raise a child who will actually improve your life and the life of others. If you don't think you can do that, don't have kids. Otherwise, kids can be a rewarding choice.

Some people are raised thinking family is the most important thing in life. If anything THAT is more selfish than sacrificing your own legacy to make a difference in the world.

I support you not having kids, tbh.
Some people are going for more than setting in in a career to slave away, *******. Or any goal that is not your typical 9-5, kids and die.

If that means having kids at 35 rather than 25(different environments, financial start in life),then it is the right way for some people.

Don't get me wrong, kids dont have to ruin one's goals if they are strategically planned. But you pointing at every brah here doesn't want it until later as if they are a meathead who wants to live everyday like Zyzz is fukken pathetic.

This is over the course of a few hundred years. The earth is billions of years old. LOL if you don't have the processing power in that skull of yours to recognize the trend.

Drive in any heavily populated metro during rush hour and see if you think more people are needed.

Don't get me wrong, kids dont have to ruin one's goals if they are strategically planned. But you pointing at every brah here doesn't want it until later as if they are a meathead who wants to live everyday like Zyzz is fukken pathetic.

Jeez, on the misc everything is either black or white and not the 1231231 shades of grey in-between that correspond to an individual's situation.
Why you gotta be racist tho?
