It’s amusing that so many people harp on about the SJW agenda or identity politics in movies focusing on black people or females when similar themes run through many of the greatest movies and franchises of all time

Look at Avatar, the entire Star Wars franchise, the entire Star Trek franchise, the Harry Potter franchise, all of those are based on the subjugation of or prejudice against certain groups, and they all push the same agenda. But they use complete fiction to send their messages — I guess a more extreme response is expected when you hit closer to home and further from the realm of fantasy

Nothing compares to Winter Soldier though as far as Marvel goes.

Can anyone give a realistic take on how good the movie really is? I have seen literally just one super hero movie that transcended the genre itself as a legitimate great film, and that was Dark Knight. Is the movie genuinely THAT great, or are people overrating it at least a little bit based on politics/SJW stuff? Srs question.

I was pointing out the hypocrisy, they said it was so diverse yet it was all black. All diverse means to the left and to the MSM is not white. It has nothing to do with diversity they just want to herald anything thats not white as amazing and a step forward. Its just a big virtue signal.

It's a good movie. It's more about politics in Wakanda than anything else. Fight scenes were better in Civil War. Political tension was better in Winter Soldier. Afro futurist Wakanda looked awesome. Minimal character arcs. Characters are the same from start to finish. Strong black female characters. Black Panther's little sister Shuri is a breath of fresh air. Michael B. Jordan was a badass villain. There's never been a bigger, blacker movie. Also the music was very good. Oh and Andy Serkis is a fukkin mad man.

I thought the movie was very well done and very thought provoking. Killmonger laid out a good argument and I think he was a much more interesting character than T'Challa.

Bingo. All white casts are "problematic" and "whitewashed." All black casts are "diverse" and "empowering."

I would find it just as ridiculous if a movie was released featuring a tribe of white people from "The Mayonnaise Islands" and a bunch of Caucasians started tweeting "PRAISE THE MAYONNAISE ISLANDS!" and trying to book hotel reservations there and the MSM was saying how important and innovative and groundbreaking the film was. I don't know, call me crazy, I just see an equal amount of thinly veiled bigotry in the tiki torch *******s as I do in the "WAKANDA FOREVER" ****s who were saying sh!t like "White people better stay out of our way when Black Panther is released!" The thing is, the former doesn't really bug me because most people will call out the tiki torch twats, the consensus is they are racists. Whereas the people telling "wypipo" how problematic their presence is at a child's superhero movie are just proud of their culture.

Some would label all this nonsense "cultural Marxism," but if you haven't got the memo, that concept is now considered a "conspiracy theory." They deleted the entry from Wikipedia years ago.

I've never seen so many black people in a movie theater in my township in my entire life. Hollywood learned that if you make a movie with black actors in in, you will attract black people to the movies. Good for them, its just that its about 40 years too late. I thought it was an excellent movie.

Marvel actually managed to neuter arguably the most badass character from Civil War by giving him a solo film.

T'Challa gets stripped of his powers and his suit twice in the movie (because Wakandan law, no srsly), he barely wins his first fight, he is simply destroyed in the second one against Killmonger (some random CIA trainee who cuts himself after each of his kills), and only manages to return and challenge him again on pure technicality, and win by chance and not by merit. Sorry, with the help of his 16 year old sister.

Marvel fukd up big time, previously they emphasized that the heroes are heroes even without their gimmicks (Tony's suit, Thor's hammer etc.), and then they went ahead and said that BP is nothing special, he just happened to be the son of the former king and nothing more.

In perspective:

- Tony Stark and Co. built their first suit in a cave with a box of scraps
- Thor sacrificed himself for Jane (after a long weekend) so he became worthy
- Cap fukin jumped on a grenade to sacrifice himself
- Stephen Strange, after a couple days started an infinite cosmic/time loophole against Dormammu, even though he loled at magic and didn't care about anyone
- the GotG saved the Galaxy twice

And T'Challa defeats the villain, because his sister came up with some strange sonic stabilizer bullchit, that enables high-speed transportation of vibranium or else. And somehow he overpowers the villain after being in snow coma for a couple days/weeks.

That's it.

The mythical characters of Achilles and Zeus are far less defined by their traditional whiteness than Black Panther and Wakanda are by their blackness. In either case, you're free not to patronize the franchise.

What about the people who find the marketing disgusting but think the movie looks good? You can notice all the intentionally divisive sh!t without falling prey to it. You don't have to choose a side. I thought it was a good movie. Just as good as other Marvel movies, definitely in the top half but I wouldn't put it in my top 5.

But just like Get Out people are praising it as the best thing ever, because....
