Just like how tobacco companies covered up studies between smoking and adverse health effects
Or how oil companies covered studies between burning fossil fuels and damaging the environment/climate change
It's all greed

In fact, more and more research is starting to reveal that it's actually worse for you than previously thought.
Have you read about the epigenome?
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3713237/
It takes ~30 years to repair the epigenetic damage associated with smoking. The children of smokers might have an increased risk of genetic diseases, like cancer, because it's suspected that parents are passing on damaged genes to them.

I cut out all forms of sugar with the exception of fruit about 12 months ago....When I mean I cut out all forms of sugar, I cut out all forms of sugar. I look at every label and research it for one of the 50 hidden names for sugar. The results of my sugar elimination are ridiculous (srs)...
Brb- Perfectly clear skin
Brb - Mental clarity/memory through the roof
Brb - Sleep like a baby
Brb - Have loads of energy (I also take a D3 supplement, however)
Brb - Almost zero cravings for food
Brb - Cutting - LOL. Who needs to cut
Brb - Dont think I've been to the doctor (outside of a routing physical) for sickness since starting
Brb - Pain from old injuries due to inflammation- gone
I cant imagine a life in which I would go back. In full disclosure there is a three week period in which I cheat around the holidays.
I started this from a 30 day session of Whole30 elimination diet...One of the best decisions for my health I ever made.

Sugar is great for those times and that's what it's for. When we were hunter/gatherers and we'd find a beehive, we would have sugar to keep us going until we could find an animal to kill or some wild things to eat. It has it's place and modern life is 99.9% void of the times when you need that sort of energy boost.
When I did these long distance races (12-24 hours) I'd eat sugary stuff part way through and I'd get an extra 2-3 hours of energy from it. When I'm working all day, even though it's physical labor moving patients around, etc, I feel like crap if I eat something with sugar.

I did the keto thing for over a year and it's great for cutting. long term though no way.. blood pressure way up (140/90 highest it was, but stayed around there), nail health and hair health went to chit, ridges and white spots completely covered my nails hair dry and dull (these are indicators of overall poor health by lack of nutrients). I could go on about all the negative impacts but tldr. switched to paleo style, don't feel as super saiyan as I did on keto but my overall health has drastically improved. bp at normal ranges all the white spots went away nearly instantly it was crazy looking.
tldr. don't eat nothing but fat, but definitely stop eating refined sugars. my current diet is 50% fat 25 25 protein and carbs all my carbs come from fruit and veggies.
edit; also got triglyceride panel before during and after keto, before my ldls were at 110 during 223 after dropped back to low 100s. don't remember my hdls but they did go up too which is good but the ldl killed that anyways.
so that bs about keto making your cholesterol go down is total bs lol

Brb energy surplus because I love bacon
Brb still losing body fat as per the above.
Enough of this bull****. Energy balance is king. Sure sugar is delicious, and it's really easy to eat more carb calories from it than you should as a result, but the presence of insulin in your system does not make you increase nett body fat.

Obviously it is exaggeration but **** does increase your overall mass if caloric intake is above norm and macros are way off

Second, you saying that insulin has zero effect on fat storage is completely wrong. If you don't know what you are talking about just don't even post. Lmao at you saying your broscience is more credible than peer reviewed scientific journals.

When you just vaguely say sugar instead of sucrose, fructose or glucose, it makes the argument flawed. Fructose is not the issue here.

The main reason there's an obesity crisis isn't so much 'sugar' as it is the abundance of cheap processed food which is loaded with both sugar and fat. We are genetically inclined to crave that kind of food but since we're no longer prowling the tundra hunting mammoths, it's unhealthy to eat as much as we want to.
This is not a problem which is going to go away any time soon, we are prisoners of our evolutionary heritage.

The real truth of it all is that we don't know. There has never been money thrown at exploring diet in the human body unless it was a bull**** diversion, as there is no way for someone to package and sell "the ideal diet" information on a massive scale. And anyone involved in that industry is going to do all they can to put the kabosh on any meaningful research, since it threatens their revenue stream.
