It just equates to saving up during the time that you think about asking her to marry compared to when you actually do. The relative value shows the actual cost you are willing to pay. Is it fueled by consumerism? Maybe.

?? You fellas srsly gonna wreck your girl like that?

We out here buying new whips, new bikes, and all sorts of other nice schit and eating in expensive restaurants… but you are gonna make your girl rock a peasant ring on her finger? I'm not even saying spend a fuk ton as there are plenty of ways to get legit stuff at 30-40% of retail costs, but dam for $1000 you are getting a couple of diamond chips in the ring if you are lucky. It is a one time expense fellas.

Yes itโ€™s propaganda created by the De Beers corporation, a genius marketing campaign equating level of love to diamond value. You should do some research.

Bruh. You can do really well if you actually know what you are buying. Just fcken LMAO @ people buying diamonds with clarity and grades that you can only tell the difference under a microscope and not with the bare eye. The chain jewelry stores will show you a flawless or internally flawless compared to a poverty I2-I3 heavily occluded under a microscope to scare you into buying a more expensive stone. They are graded on their visibility under a 10x microscope . Most people could easily get a larger, less expensive stone and without a microscope you'd never be able to tell.

BRB, getting a way bigger stone for substantially less. Wife is happy, I'm happy, and I didn't get royally screwed by the jewelry company.

Who gives a fuk how many diamond chips are on the ring. Itโ€™s an item of sentimental value and $1k will get you a decent quality band thatโ€™ll last a lifetime.

dunno if hyperbole but you can't put diamond chips on a ring lmao.
actually you can buy a bunch of diamond chips clustered together for $30, the diamond material itself isn't expensive.
the price of diamonds comes from them being single, big, crystals.

Because if you're not broke and can spare the money, it's nice to buy a good diamond for the woman you love and will spend your life with, as a token of your love and appreciation.

And I've bought expensive gifts for my exes myself too, to show my love and appreciation and because I knew they would really enjoy the gift.

Life is not all about delayed gratification you know. Disaster, illness, or death can strike at any time, so it's good to enjoy your money too and not save/invest everything for a future that may never come.

Not to say you should spend irresponsibly of course. But if you can afford it then why not buy something so beautiful and meaningful for the woman you love?

Even if your woman says not to get her anything and that it's not important to her, most women would still absolutely love and cherish wearing a beautiful diamond from the man who loves her.

LOL if you buy the diamond from a jeweler. Buy one wholesale with microscopic occlusions and a color that isn't quite top tier.

And loool at thinking you are getting a decent diamond with $1,000 dollars. Who cares if you can get a decent band with a grand why is that all you are willing to drop if you are buying all sorts of other expensive stuff? Is $3-4k gonna make much difference in your life as a once in a lifetime expense?

Cool so we agree. I let them show me all the grades using their nice microscope and then did my research elsewhere.

And like I said, I was on a poverty college salary when I spent that $1400. I'm sure sometime in the future I will upgrade, but my issue is with how the whole industry works and how most people are suckers for it.

Yeah fam. I dropped $3-4k for my girl's and for insurance purposes it was appraised around $11k. Everywhere we go girls and even some dudes comment on it. She obviously thinks it is pretty special too. I'd rep you but I already gave away my reps in bezarkers stickied thread lmao

The point is I donโ€™t want a woman that would want me to spend exorbitant amounts of money on a piece of jewelry whose primary value should be sentimental. Kim is one of those types of women.

Thatโ€™s the point. If I met a woman who had saved and invested money like me, and wanted to buy me a $10k watch as a token of her love and appreciation, Iโ€™d tell her to absolutely not spend that money on me. And it should go towards our future family and experiences instead.

The point of saying that is you can get something that looks fantastic and it doesn't have to cost an outrageous amount. But regardless keep chasing those checks. I'm sure you will appreciate all that money in the bank when you are 50.

Eh, it shouldn't be about the ring. Yes, a big flashy ring can be nice to impress others, but you need to find the right partner that won't care for this. Specially if you are going to spend 5k and under.

I personally hope for my fathers wedding band with me and my future spouse's birth stone. Then down the road, have each child's birthstone added to the ring. Marriage is about building a family (IMO)
