This lol. Autism is extremely high in this thread arguing against vaccination. Science, not even once.

A pear has over 100 times the fomaldehyde of a vaccine. A can of tuna has far more mercury (and the type of mercury in a vaccine is ethylmercury, not methylmercury; ethylmercury is far safer than methylmercury) than a vaccine. Cheese contains far more aluminum than a vaccine does. Those whey protein shakes you probably drink have a ****load more "toxins" and aluminum than a vaccine.

Anti-vaxers should be eradicated. They are bringing back preventable diseases based on 100% debunked science.

good to know. there's a difference though, one is intravenous and the other is oral which could decompose or decrease the absorption of certain molecules.

I dunno if they're dangerous or not, but the "are these supposed to sound scary" scarcasm won't change whether they **** up your children or not

If by intravenously you mean intramuscularly... Which is one of the slower ways to administer medications. Oral absorption through the mucosa and GI tract (eating those foods) is slower than intravenously, but faster than intramuscularly...

I meant intravenously, didn't know vaccines are delivered intramuscularly. I wasn't thinking about the speed of absorption, more about the % of each molecule that is absorbed of the total intake. But yeah, slower is better

You act like they're injecting vials of formaldehyde in babies. There's trace amounts of certain chemicals in every vaccine. The rest of a vaccine is filled with antigens that help your body make the necessary antibodies to fight the disease. Or they have certain proteins from the actual virus that act as an antigen.

I was skeptical, and lo and behold:https://skeptics.stackexchange.com/q...than-a-vaccine

long story short: an entire pear might have 5-10x as much, but that is an ENTIRE pear compared to one concentrated dose injected straight into a baby.

Look guys I don't know the answer, I lean against vast vaccines for everything (but still some) but half the chit in this topic is just memey.

Why am I not surprised that Miscers are unironically arguing against vaccines. Vaccines are legit one of the best things thats happened to us as a species. If you seriously don't think vaccines benefits don't outweigh the negatives look up measles outbreaks. Their used to be more than 500,000 cases of Measles a year now theres literally like 50 a year. Polio has been basically eradicated but thanks to some anti vaccers its back. Tetanus, Smallpox, Mumps all these are diseases that have been drastically reduced to the point of irrelevance thanks to vaccines. People point to autism as if thats a cause of vaccines but for all we know it could be all the pesticides they're adding to vegetables, BPA in plastics, seriously who the **** knows. It could be people are more aware of autism and therefore report it instead of just saying "well Johnny's just weird" like they did back then. Correlation doesn't mean causation.

That's a strawman though. There's quite a difference between thinking vaccines are a bad thing period and that they could on the whole be a good thing, but there may be some risks that we should know about and try to reduce them.
The decrease in deaths due to contagious diseases is not just because of vaccines but also because of the hugely improved hygiene conditions and new treatments.

Bro wat. You realize millions and millions of kids and adults are vaccinated each year right? At this point it would be pretty obvious if there were any huge adverse side effects. The people who have had bad experiences with vaccines are so statistically insignificant (assuming what they're saying is true) that it still doesn't warrant refusing to give your kids vaccines

All of you are sheep. Vaccination is a conspiracy propagated by the Jews to give our blonde-haired, blue-eyed, aryan babies autism. And we are all lucky to have Jenny McCarthy busting this thing wide open!

But srsly... none of us are directly connected to the evidence. To some degree, we just have to appeal to authority. It seems like the overwhelming majority of smart people are on the side that vaccination does not cause autism.

it's memey because you literally have numbers in front of you - 12,000 mcg vs 100 mcg and you say '5-10x'. your original post puts a german study (kiggs) 'and others' versus 'surveys' for unvaccinated kids. the kiggs study had 14148 total kids aged 1-17. 94 were unvaccinated (0.7%) with hilarious p values.

"The proportion of children and adolescents who had had pertussis, measles, mumps, and/or rubella was much higher in unvaccinated children than in those who had been vaccinated against the respective disease to a sufficient extent. For pertussis, the lifetime prevalence in unvaccinated subjects was 15.8% (95% CI 8.5 to 27.6, n = 11), in those with sufficient vaccination cover only 2.3% (95% CI 2.0 to 2.8), n = 184). For measles, the lifetime prevalence was 15.0 (95% CI 7.7 to 27.4, n = 10) in unvaccinated subjects and 5.2% (95% CI 4.7 to 5.8, n = 431) in sufficiently vaccinated ones. For mumps, the lifetime prevalence in unvaccinated subjects was 9.6% (95% CI 4.2 to 20.2, n = 7) and in vaccinated ones, 3.1% (95% CI 2.6 to 3.7, n = 305). For rubella, the lifetime prevalence was 17.0% (95% CI 9.4 to 29.0, n = 11) for unvaccinated subjects and 6.8% (95% CI 6.0 to 7.6, n = 642) for vaccinated ones. Differentiated stratified analyses confirmed the described higher proportions of subjects with the respective disease among unvaccinated subjects for boys and girls and for different age groups (data not shown)."

we make formaldehyde endogenously as a byproduct of some amino acid pathways
the aluminum and mercury argument are also stupid because we aren't giving elemental mercury or aluminum, but salts that have shown safety and efficacy.

the dose makes the poison herp derp

I'm a shill? Lmao, go check my post history then fist yourself.

Ignorance? It's basic science.

All humans have detectable quantities of natural formaldehyde in their circulation. Assuming an average weight of a 2-month-old of 12lbs, the total quantity of formaldehyde found in an infant's circulation would be about 1.1 mg, a value substantially larger than what an infant would get in any vaccine or combination. Many vaccines have 0.005mg of formaldehyde in them...

Heres some actual research for you in case you care

"Following a single intramuscular dose of 200 micrograms of formaldehyde, which is equivalent to the amount of formaldehyde received from DTaP, Hib, IPV, and hepatitis B at a single office visit, formaldehyde was completely removed from the site of injection within 30 minutes. Peak concentrations of formaldehyde in blood were estimated to be less than 1 percent of the level of formaldehyde naturally produced by the body. The authors concluded that formaldehyde in vaccines continues is safe."

Mitkus RJ, Hess MA, Schwartz SL. Pharmacokinetic modeling as an approach to assessing the safety of residual formaldehyde in infant vaccines. Vaccine 2013;31:2738-2743

GTFO of here with your shill talk, ignorance, feigned stupidity...

how would it be obvious? how could any given person trace back his or her life conditions to some shot they were given when they were babies, especially considering pretty much everybody is vaccinated nowadays?
I think the only way to know for sure would be to do randomized trials, given that correlational studies are likely to be hampered by too many confounding variables, since families that don't give vaccines to their children tend to be anomalous in some way or another.

Dude, he just said he doesn't know if they are bad for you... And we know vaccines help prevent/eradicate numerous diseases...

He clearly has no idea wtf he is talking about. He saw some 5 minute YouTube video some mom posted on FB and it scared the chit out of him. He's just the product of fear mongering.

Tell that to places in India that had polio until a few years ago when polio vaccine became introduced. Their sanitation and healthcare is still crap, but polio is now gone.

Also, anyone arguing that "vaccines = $" doesn't know what the hell they're talking about. Insurance companies do pay doctors to give vaccines. Do you know why that is? Because a $10 vaccine that prevents a $100k+ hospital visit is well worth the cost for them. If there was adverse reactions, they sure as hell wouldn't pay doctors to give them because they'd end up losing money on that because of long term costs. Not to mention that pharmaceutical companies and doctors would not be stupid enough to give vaccines if they weren't safe because of lawsuits. Malpractice and class action lawsuits are big $

LMAO What kind of argument is that. in that case lets not eat or do anything because you never know what it might do. BRB can't eat blueberries because for all we know they might be traced back to something thats wrong with you. Something like 85% of the population has had a vaccine. Im pretty sure 85% of the population has also had an apple. BRB apples might cause autism. Again, the positives of vaccination far far far outweigh the negatives.

I think the concern is more about the incentive of the companies manufacturing and developing vaccines trying to manipulate studies, not insurance. It may or may not be stupid on their part, but there is historical precedence of them doing it regardless.

Just get vaccinated, it's not complicated.

Are you legitimately saying aluminum, mercury, and formaldehyde are NOT bad to be injected with? Your ignorance or feigned stupidity is stunning.
I presume you're not a biochemist, like the ones who develop formulas for vaccines and understand how they interact with the body, what limits studies have shown to be safe, etc. I would leave it up to them to figure out what works and then rest assured that it's a good thing I won't end up with something serious, like polio.

Point to where I said people shouldn't be vaccinated.
And yes, there is a nonzero chance that any given food could be traced back to something that's wrong with you (for instance, soy = phytoestrogens, salt = higher blood pressure). That's why we need scientific research.

Point to where I said vaccines cause autism. Point to where I said vaccines are dangerous just because a lot of people are vaccinated. Don't try to make up logical fallacies where there are none, boyo.

jokes on you, organic mercury compounds are more harmful than elemental mercury
lol wut? that 'article' didn't disprove anything. sure it'll vary, and it is just a meme, but formaldehyde is a buzz word people use to sound scary. we still make it endogenously

organic mercury compounds (methylmercury) are toxic, but ethylmercury formed from the metabolism of thimerosal (all routine pediatric vaccinations have a free version) is not at the levels found in vaccines. vaporized and inorganic mercury are all dangerous, you don't really come across them unless you work with them
