Iowa has a much better castle doctrine now that states the second someone crosses your threshold, you shoot them in the face...no questions asked. If you aren’t wanted and you broke in...you die. What’s also beautiful...shoot them in the back as they are running away...completely fine by law. If it was determined a felony was committed my the chitems then no civil case can be brought upon the shooter.
Generalizations are a great way to get to the bottom of things. This cop was awful, yes.

"Instead, if a person is "any place where the person is lawfully present," they may defend themselves with deadly force.
Further, the law says "a person may be wrong in their estimation of danger or about how much force is necessary 'as long as there is a reasonable basis for the belief … and the person acts reasonably in response to that belief,'" Pfannenstiel reported."

The first part seemingly coincides with what you're saying, but the next part at least starts to suggest that you have to feel violently threatened. Of course that could be up for a good deal of interpretation. I mean though it just sounds more complicated thanshoot in the facewithout any other circumstantial consideration.

Nothing against cops but they are retroactive. Most of the time they show up after the crime has already happened. Dude should wasted the intruder and then called the cops. After all, cops are humans and in some cases dumasses that make horrible mistakes.

Anyone walking into my home that’s not invited is not there to sell me cookies. Sorry but that person will die and I’ll provide my interpretation which is entirely subjective so it’s completely protected. Play stupid games...you know the rest.

Lol at America
You can use readily force to protect your home, but if a cop is nearby when you do that they'll kill you for doing so.

this is why you announce yourself before making entry, give commands to drop weapons / show your hands & listen to what is said & who says it. who gives a fuk if it scares off the intruder. that is why you secure the perimeter. once everyone is disarmed, pretty easy to figure out who the h/o & dumb fuk POS intruder is. no excuse here unless the h/o did something highly fking retarded like ignored the officers then raised or pointed his gun towards them but i highly doubt he would have done that. fukk this is sad. hopefully the bodycam will come out. this goes to show MORE training is needed in these types of situations.
alternative scenario: cops didnt announce when making entry, h/o thinks its still the bad guy he shot at but hadnt killed yet, then pulls gun on cops, end of story. I just cant fathom how, if the officers announced their presence, that the homeowner wasn't like IM IN HERE I AM THE HOME OWNER I AM PUTING MY GUN DOWN HELP ME
any other LEOs got opinions on what TF could have happened?

This really upsets me brahs, that cop needs to be in jail... If someone breaks into my house first thing I'm going to is lethal options. Guarantee you the cop that murdered this guy defending his home would of 100% done the same thing to someone breaking into his home.
