Depends on job. If you are a high end nurse with lots of experience at a Hospital then yeah you can make bank. Doctors offices are pretty chill and nursing homes are pretty much depression city and I would never want to work at one.

My first job out of nursing school (Which is my current job) I am a LPN at a retirement monastery making 23/hr. Job is chill af giving out meds in the morning and evenings to a select few whereas everyone else is pretty much independent unless they need somehting/have some sort of surgery and I take care of post care stuff. But its not a forever job

I was hospitalized last February for a few days and saw what they have to deal with. Babysitting senile old people, cleaning catatonic people that can't help themselves, changing IVs, dealing with chit and urine, overnight work, and with all that have to have good bedside manner. The nurses I dealt with were top shelf. Pay them what they deserve.

Again, years of experience. This is pretty much the pinnicle of a “standard” nursing career. 20+ years on the job and an advanced degree.

Most nurses aren’t paid enough. You’re acting like they are making all this money.... in reality most do difficult, exacting work in horrible conditions. Even the ones that have a relatively easy job now probably paid their dues in some hell hole for years.

Last week I'm pretty sure I got a nurse fired.

She wasn't a newbie either. She was one of the veterans at the hospital. Had her BSN, really knew her chit, but for some reason we kept coming up short on the drug robaxin (a muscle relaxer). The med stations are automated so I can look at all the activity (restocking/removal) of every drug and it was odd that under her account she kept accessing that drug even when she didn't have any patients taking it. Long story short, we asked her to take a drug test and she refused....which is kinda admission of guilt. At the moment she's currently on unpaid leave and will have to go before some sort of panel of Director or Nurses and they'll discuss why they are suspicious of her and for her to plead her case. Usually when it gets to that point you're screwed. Not only can she permanently lose her license but she's also looking at jail time.

FFS she ruined her life and it wasn't even a narcotic. In a way I feel kinda bad...

Only nursing I'd ever do is be a CRNA. BRB work on surgeon's schedule and get paid 150k a year minimum. Actually thought about it but i don't want to go back to school and admissions is a pain in the ass.

Being a Nurse Anesthetist isn't nearly as bad as a nurse working on the floors. They typically only have one patient at a time (because they're high code risk after coming out of surgery) and you only have to tend to them for a few hours before they're handed off to the Units.

I'm sure this has been said; but those are pretty strong salaries for professionals with a lot of experience. My wife is a BSN RN and certified NICU at a highly reputable children's hospital and makes like $60K a year after 4 years.

It's true nurses make great money but engineers with equal credentials, job prestige, and experience will in almost every scenario make more money. Nursing jobs that pay >$100K like the head nurse position you posted require a nurse practitioner's degree, as well.
