It's not about 'enjoying' it's about the influence the music has on people, and the values promoted.
To you it might just be music, but to people who live in ghettos or low income areas, it reinforces the values and images of their social environment.
There is a correlation between rap and aggressive tendencies...
"The findings suggest that young people’s substance use and aggressive behaviors may be related to their frequent exposure to music containing references to substance use and violence. Conversely, music listening preference may reflect some personal predispositions or lifestyle preferences. "
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5066304/
"It was found that watching the violent music video containing violent lyrics, aggressive behavior, and degrading behaviors toward women did make an individual feel and react more violently with regards to responses to questions about fictitious scenarios. The conclusion was that watching violent music videos does negatively affect behavior."

It's the internet/instant gratification era. The internet allowed so many talentless rappers (not even just rappers, but artist in general) to self-market themselves and build their own audience, and most people are so caught up in instant gratification, they don't even question the quality of it, they just accept every banger that's thrown at them, like jumping from trend to trend, without giving it much thought.

I remember back in the 90s there used to be what I perceived as "yuppies" in suits trying to get people to censor rap en masse on legal levels because it was harmful to society
Back then I used to think that they didn't get it but now looking back on it doesn't really matter -because it's all about what actually results in real life in reality and not as things "should ideally be in theory"
This goes back to the difference in being results based and living in delusion

2011 - 2014 asap rocky, clams casino, bones, etc era was fking GREAT
too bad the trap music in 2018 is soooo stale, lacks personality, and generally is not atmospheric or interesting at all. rap music was GOAT in the 90's (mobb deep, nas, tupac, biggie, etc) - then seriously fell off in the 2000's.

rap has never been masculine so the premise is inherently flawed. but it's become increasingly more simplified and sugarcoated to appeal to peter pans like rainingblood

oh my god, what the fuk is with all this anti gun sh_t... it should be more like anti criminal, anti scumbag.
you guys want to know what happened to rap?
https://chicagodefender.com/2015/08/...t-changed-rap/
cliffs: the united banking cartel decided to use rap to manipulate people into thinking committing crimes was cool so they could fill privately owned prisons
the only difference between 90s era "gun to your mothers head" type rap and current "be a drug using, effeminate pussy" type hip hop is the approach to the same control agenda changed.

ITT oldcels who hear nothing but 69, Lil Uzi, and Young Thug on the radio talking about "what happened to hip hop" smh. If you listen to the radio, yes, all you hear is trash because thats what the suburban white kids want to hear. Fact is, in 2018 there have been a shytload of amazing albums released.
To Name a few:
Royce Da 5'9"- Book of Ryan
Jay Rock- Redemption
Pusha T- Daytona
Lecrae- Let the Trap say Amen
Nipsey Hustle- Victory Lap
Vince Staples- Big Fish Theory
J Cole- KOD
If you're looking for "newer artists" you have guys like Sylvan Lacrue, John Givez, Lute, Belly, Joyner Lucas, Cozz, etc all putting out quality music.

Pusha T raps about being a rich violent career criminal.
Royce Da 5 9 raps about being a violent career criminal (literally raps about shooting people).
I am aware that some of the names you presented do conscious rap.
Edit: Just googled, and apparently Nipsey Hustle is a phuckin Crip!
People (like you) seem to be posting based on the thread title alone.

It's kind of the same with rock music. A lot of great artists recent works don't even sound like rock but pop, they use autotuned vocals now and all that chit. If you go to YouTube's music section the rock hotlist is way the fuk down the page below a bunch of more niche and weird genre lists.
