Cops in TJ will still try to extort you. It almost happened to me. I haven't been back

Lol @ believing they were just there visiting family members, come on guys

I spent a week in Tijuana/San Diego not even two months ago. Wandered around by myself, hit some local restaurants where nobody spoke English, etc etc. Zero issues

Going to cabo in January for like 10 days, huge group of like 50 of us going for a wedding...

Will I survive? Don't leave the resort?

You'll be fine in Cabo. I went two years ago for a wedding. Downtown is chill. Stayed on the resort most of the time, though. I just wouldn't wander off at night in town.

Mexico is quickly becoming a no-go zone...a friend of mine from North Carolina was just murdered by a cartel in Mexico, near Chihuahua.
I'm way cool FYI

Used to go to Cabo all the time as a kid. My fam had a timeshare within view of the Cabo Arch.

Back then we treated it as a beautiful city that has its bad spots (not much different than Miami I guess). But maybe it's gotten worse now. Rarely went into the city though.

They likely got into an argument/fight with the wrong people (drug lord members and chit)

I went to Tijuana and cops pulled us over in the taxi and just went through our wallets for money. Oh well, we aren't going to fight it, money stolen is money stolen they could have jailed us on false charges.

If you brahs do go to mexico, never try to get tough with law enforcement or the average citizen.. you never know who they actually are til its too late.

people in this thread act as if you need to be doing something illegal for you to get murdered in mexico, nope, the phrase "wrong place, at the wrong time" that exist in many many spots in mexico. Mind your business, turn your cheek if you see something going down, you didn't see nothing!

Yep. Gets suggested at least once a month to go for "tacos and beer." Hey *******s, we got both of those here believe it or not, and there's a stronger chance of not being murdered. I need smarter friends.

This. Mexico is surely dangerous, there's no denying it, but execution style killings are meant to send a message. You don't try to sell on narco turf, doesn't matter if it's a full scale operation or a few grams.

Leaning towards the kids themselves were involved or a family member wronged a cartel. Sad as fukk if the kids were used to send a message though.

Does anyone ever stop to think how ****ing crazy it is that someone who lives a relatively normal life could end up in that situation?

I mean I don't know if there is an explanation for this, maybe it was random or maybe they got involved in something they shouldn't have. But just imagine one moment you're a teenager in school and the next you're on your knees with a gun to your head knowing your life is over. Just imagine that was you... ****ing crazy.

Mexico is safe for tourist for the most part, there are always hot zones in the country that one should avoid. Right now I would avoid going to Chihuahua as there is war going on in there and Veracruz. Stay away from sketchy places especially when it's late in the day. If going to Mexico I'd recommend reading news on the place you're going and once there using common sense.
