In order to get your LBM up, at some point for a period of time you're going to need to eat at surplus and but on some bf. During that time your probably going to have a higher bf%, say 15-17%, before you can cut.

I look at it as a longterm investment. Bulk and hold some more bloat for the moment but look better when you cut and lean out.

Inb4 gain muscle and progress while maintaining. Good luck with that when natty srs, lmao

Nothing special, 5 day split. Lift 5-6 times a week. I do IF and eat pretty clean but don't specifically track macros. Been lifting seriously for about 6 or 7 years now. I was skinny with abs before I started lifting, and have always had a hard time putting on weight, so I essentially just did a slow bulk over the last 6 years. Maintaining my body fat below 10% is actually effortless, it's just natural to me. Guess I was blessed in that way

There’s a disconnect you’re not mentioning. It’s one thing to enjoy food and another to totally overeat all week long and wallow in self pity.

Definitely feels good to be lean/have people jelly of your physique

That said, I enjoy lifting but I also enjoy eating.

I do not enjoy diet. Eating lots and lifting go together pretty well. After summer is over it feels good to be able to eat whatever the fuk you want for a few months and not obsess over diet.

I have kids/family so it's not as if I'm trying to impress women anyways

Mass moves mass. There's a reason there are weight classes in strength sports. While that isn't an excuse for someone to eat like a pig, the adage still applies.

What's more befuddling is why you're so concerned with what someone else's training goals are.
550/385/655, 285 overhead press, 330 push jerk, 250 weighted dip, 190 weighted pull-up, 413.8 max weighted pull-up, 450 front squat, 365 RFESS, 305 x 2 log press, 400 (per arm) farmer's carry, 370 atlas stone, 31 pull-ups at 247.

If I have visible abs, I'm lean enough for me.

What kills me, is no matter how lean I get, I'm never vascular. I have one bicep vein, and if I diet hard I get that shoulder/chest one. I see people at way higher bf percentages, way more vascular and I just kinda bert stare.

This. I'm 37, and pretty sure anyone who's too lean at my gym just looks like a toolbag. I have visible definition, visible abs, etc, but at a certain point looking like you obsess with the gym just attracts sloots when most guys are actually looking for decent women.

It matters. If I used supplements it'd be easy to be ripped.

you will be fine doing what you're doing. you're only 22 and in next 6 years you'll get bigger and wider just from aging as a man. All the work you put in will show. Wish I started at your age.

For me, I am resolving to lean out some in 2019.

But you're right OP, why not lean out since we're into lifting. I feel fortunate that I haven't blown up like many guys my age in similar lifestyle. I eat like a horse and have only gotten fat over a 5 year period. I'll post a pic of my fat ass from last summer.

Inb4 "thyroid" a completely inactive thyroid lowers one's Basal Metabolic Rate 5-10 percent which for most people is like 100 cals tops. Not trying to be a dick but I get tired of people saying they are fat due to genetics or their "biology" (literally saw a fat chick I went to college drop that one on someone in a ******** argument.) A person is fat because they eat more than they need. Period.

Also can confirm, am currently fat from overeating. For me its beer. Drink beers with friends and then impulse control goes out the window and I crush whataburger.

If that's true I must have the most efficient body on the planet because I predict I'll be down to 1500 cals a day by the time my cut is over.

Well I wanted to compete at WSM and you gotta be like 350+ to Maximize your chances there. Don't mention genetic outliers, 95% of pros aren't particularly lean (even Thor goes up to 420+ for WSM and looks like a bloatlord).

But I've kinda given up on that so I'm leaning out now because I wanna actually see these muscles hidden under my fat. Also got tired of sleep apnea and feeling like death just walking through the grocery store for 20 minutes.
PRs:
Squat: 630 (sleeves)
Deadlift: 735 (straps)
Strict OHP: 330
Log Clean & Press: 360
