I still feel more free riding a bicycle than driving a car. On a bike you can go anywhere, for free, and don't need to worry about parking. There's no expensive maintenance either. Good to own both of course.

What do you guys think about having a vehicle payment? What about trading every few years for new, but perpetual payments?

I think I'm hopping on that 'no car payment ever again' bandwagon and drive a beater until the wheels fall off and then just buy another one.

Depends. What are you going to do with the money you don't put down on the car? Are there incentives with the dealership?
Only time it makes sense is when you have warranty coverage and a low interest rate. Get extended warranty if you can. Once my warranty is up I sell my car.

I've paid cash for all 4 cars I've owned so far. Most recent one was just shy of $10k. Little beater econo car (2014) with 37000 miles on it. I have liability insurance on it for $50/mn. People who make payments+interest+obligated full coverage insurance ($100+/mn) make me cringe.

I just keep investing all my extra several thousands of dollars every month LOL.

Life in USA 2019 is an actual joke.

Depends. Where. You. Live.

If you live in a city like Hongkong, then it might actually lower your life quality because 90% of the population use public transport and it is a lot faster to get around with it. Plus the parking fee in Hongkong is pretty ridiculous.

If you're like in the middle of Indiana then yes.

I figured this much...Although, I do receive a lot of hate for the South, so I have to take up for it as we live in beautiful town. However, as with nearly every state, we have our bad areas and as you guessed, the public transportation is truly terrible.

I wholly agree op.

A cheap but reliable used car thats paid off is like a small tiny house. I had a used 2003 accord and I just felt chillaxed in it whenever im on the road. Didn't have to worry about other people denting the car and didn't have to worry about washing it all the time and didn't have to worry about harsh judgement.
