At the range shooting a static target of course its an easy shot, under duress like he was it's a good shot.

This happened pretty close to me in Athens-Clarke County.

Great shot by the partner. This ******* dude, with the knife, was given multiple opportunities to drop the knife. The cops wanted to help him. He didn't want to be helped. Good riddance.

how much experience do you have shooting? And is any of it outside of stationary paper targets at a range?

First you compare range time with a high stress life or death environment. Then you compare a well seasoned sniper trained in breath, adrenaline, and heartbeat control to a cop dealing with an erratic man with a knife 6 feet away.

I don't disagree with you, most cops can't shoot for chit and only put in the minimum required range time. Most enthusiasts put in more training time and can be more accurate. But your comparisons trying to prove your point are complete trash.

I see guys at the range that can shoot a 4 inch group at 30 yards with a pistol.

Quoted my own post, OOOPS.
I see people driving Lamborghinis, why don't you have one?

I literally can't imagine being a cop in 2019.

BRB have to deal with PCP smoking deranged zombies that can walk through eight bullets to legs
BRB I have this cool 9mm semi auto, maybe I can stop a bunny rabbit
BRB full media coverage if my adrenaline induced body can't react the way the calm media and public want me to, while they sit in safety

Wondering this as well.

Assuming he's charging, a much better tactic is to pull the gun back as you're shooting. If that doesn't drop him and he's right up on you, muzzle punch him with your glock and put a round right in his face at point blank. The bullet + the gas at point blank will blow his face apart.

If that doesn't drop him, it's probably a demon.

I think they were just trying to give this dude every chance to not get shot and happened to retreat into the intersection.

sounded like 7 shots, but I wondered this too. Doubt he was out of ammo, but hard to tell exactly what firearm he had (maybe it was a 6+1). I'm thinking he just didn't want to kill the guy, which he obv didn't initially, and then froze when it was killing time.

It definitely looked like a full sized glock. All of which are 10+ rounds. Most likely it was a G17 (17+1) or a G22 (15+1). I doubt he was out of ammo as well.

He was being extremely nice to that dude the entire time. Looked like he was trying to avoid killing and hesitated for a second too long.

yep, shooting range with ideal conditions, no stress, and all the time in the world is the same as chasing a guy down on the street with a knife and shooting him.

Because he had already dropped the knife and at that point they didn't want to just kill an unarmed man. After shooting him the first time, the officer walks closer and to his right where the guy initially dropped the knife. He kicks it off to the left. Can see it if you slow the video down. Is only in frame for a split second.

So despite what everyone and their fuking mother will say, they were trying to spare his life. 100% he would have shot him again if he went straight for the knife but as he was unarmed, they were showing restraint.

Whole situation lasted far to long imo. Fuk backpedaling that far and risking a trip and fall. Of course arm chairing here tho.

Id bet the first officer was so in shock that the 7-8 rounds didnt immediatly stop the threat he then just half froze up. Fukkin terrible situation.

Partner was cool as a cucumber (considering situation) very well placed shots saving his buddys life.

Exactly why we're taught "shoot to kill" when using deadly force. Where's all the "shoot him in the legs!" *******s now?

This will make an excellent training video.

The guy is using a weapon capable of grievous bodily harm/death. You match the force used. Tasers fail ALL the time. Barbs don't connect, get stuck in clothes, etc.

But you go ahead and feel free to try that some day.

The vid says he was in a residential community, maybe trying to get a better backstop for the confrontation?

Poor officer REALLY did not want to have to shoot the guy, gave him every chance and even then went for the legs instead of center mass.

Clean shoot, God bless.

Took them long enough to kill him. I'm all for cops being more patient and not trying to be John fukkin McClane who instantly start spraying soon as it gets a little heated, but they were way too nice with this guy.

They are too much of pu$$ies to off themselves, so they force them into a situation where the cops have to do it and thus live with the guilt and trauma that I'm sure comes with taking a life regardless of the fact that it may have been warranted. A total cowards way out if you ask me, just like someone who will jump in front of a train or 18 wheeler and subject the operators to similar feels.

Some people do this intentionally because they want to off themselves. (srs)

This is common among police kills.
