Then the wealthy/powerful will still be those that bring value to the world. The middle class and below would be in the same position.

A large portion of millionaires have 7 sources of income. Main job, real estate investments, owns side business or multiple businesses, stock market, etc. People that are 100% in the market would be screwed.

BRB its not fair that people that finance everything they can. Blow every penny they earn. And never invest a dime have less money. People who bring value to the world grow wealthy. Said people maintain and grow their wealth through investing.

At 32 I've built more wealth then my father, who's nearly 60. And he's earned 2-3 times as much as I have per year for the better part of 25 years. I built more wealth and have acquired more assets after working just 10 years, then he has after working the last 40 years.

What's the difference? Well my first paragraph. I live frugal and invest as much as possible. He spends ever dime he makes as soon as he makes it. Does he deserve a piece of my investment returns?
I don't know, can't you really invest on a measly $50,000 salary. Rent and utilities is $1200 and that's an average city. Unless you move to the suburbs which means long commute and you're still paying $1000..

Add in kids with $2000 day care costs...shiiiiit

and money isn't "sitting in an account doing nothing", it gets lent out to people who can make more money. If you had a great business plan, in today's environment you can basically borrow all the money you need.
If helping others was prioritized and seen as something to strive for instead of having material wealth (whats being promoted now) people wouldnt stop at 5 Million, the more people they help the more they would strive to help as much as they could. I read somewhere that when someone helps another person, this act activates the most positive parts of the brain compared to any other activity (dont remember exactly). its in our genes to help others and its the only reason we exist. So no they wouldnt stop

2. Decide that its up to everyone one, whether they like it or not (because they have the money) to help people who do not have the means to help themselves? That right there is part of the rerason why Karl Marx wrote that god damned book of his and 250+ million people were killed because of it. Because people with that same mindset took power and convinced others to think the same way. To think that people who were better off than others got thereONLY because of nefarious means. And the damnedest thing is, that despite Marxists near 100% failure rate in its national implementations over the years, people are stupid enough to try it again
For your first question, i think studies should be done to see where the amount of money someone has starts to matter less and less once they pass a certain point. for example, if a study shows a person who makes 2 million has the same level of fulfillment/ satisfaction (with life) with someone with 10 million but is more satisified than someone with 1 million, we can then conclude around 2 million is the sweet spot. Just an example but i hope that makes sense. for your second question ill get back to it in a sec

I think my only thing is i think its pretty gay there are lots of people that werent really ingenious but were instead at a point in time where there wasnt much competition.

For instance, opening up a toy store or some stupid chit isnt ingenious, but in the 1800's or early 1900's simply due to a smaller population they might have been the only one around for 500 miles. Then once they make that money the money stays within the family (ies). But really, its not a byproduct of anything super special or revolutionary.

Its akin to the internet age. How were 10 year olds going to start businesses at the burgeoning of the internet? Then those dudes at the right age capitalize, and have that huge money advantage to topple competition. With something as revolutionary as the internet and how ingrained it becomes in society, im not sure its just gonna disappear in 50 years. So the dudes at the right time of that age are going to have a huge advantage over someone born 20 years after

Basically what i mean is there are people that werent really ingenious or some chit, just happened to be around at the right time and that significantly sways chit

Bottled water is another example.. Ohhh how fuken smart someone was to decide to sell people water. But with not as many people trying, its significantly easier. Then they make beacoup bucks and it trickles down

I am not a genius that will come up with these studies but i doubt it would be hard to find a sweet spot for money which would allow people to live to their fullest and not have 50 billion in their bank account. If you need more money than you can spend to make you happy then your happiness is very fragile and isnt authentic

One of the concerns that I've seen popping up is that there is not a fair distribution of compensation for productivity anymore.

"the widening disparity between wages and productivity is evidence that there has been a significant shift of GDP share going from labor to capital, and this trend is playing a significant role in growing inequality."

Facts that dumb OP's don't understand:
1. The average person in America lives better than 99 percent of the world
2. The average person in America lives better than 99.99 percent of people in world history
3. NO other system has brought the masses out of poverty than capitalism
4. Wealth isn't just measured by money. The benefits that have increased by poor people and the middle class over the last 50 years is unbelievable. You have internet at the tip of your fingers, etc.
5. Wealth isn't a fixed pie. What Bill Gates has isn't affecting you at all.
6. Take an economics class

Of course no one NEEDS billions of dollars. But predicated the argument that "since no one NEEDS $___, wealth redistribution and capping is absolutely necessary" is ridiculous. You know who came up with that idea and implemented it? Fascists. If you make it so that people STOP accumulating money, then you'll just drive them to places where they can continue to accumulate it or, more likely, it would lead to events that would cause the downfall of that very system. There is a reason why no marxist country has lasted for very long. Marxism in general is a good idea in theory, but its so susceptible to corruption that it fails nearly 100% of the time

It's been interesting seeing Economic Populism rising amongst the right wing, Conservatives are questioning the lasseiz faire attitude towards income inequality that began in the 80s.

IMO support for free market capitalism is dying. Even conservatives like Tucker Carlson, Steve Bannon, etc, regularly express concern about; the power and wealth of corporations, how the middle class is being screwed, and globalization (i.e. supporting Economic Nationalism).

I routinely see Libertarian/pro-free market capitalist ideas getting criticize from both the right and left these days.

Yes.

The nordic countries are social democracies, which is a left wing form of capitalism (though many on the far left call it Centrist, rather than left wing).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_democracy

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nordic_model

I'm genuinely curious how you are going to argue that it's right wing.

I routinely see Libertarian/pro-free market capitalist ideas getting criticize from both the right and left these days.
I would say that skepticism of TRUE (unrestrained) free market capitalism is dying. It is true that the income gap is growing, but at the same time, the idea that "wealth redistribution and income capping SHOULD be implemented" and NOT Stop buying cheap chinese chit is ridiculous. I understand that trade relations are great for a country, but so is domestic infrastructure.
