Did you just mistype?

28" waist in HS? That's incredibly thin for a man.

32 inches for a man is really small.

That would mean you are predisposed for low abdominal bodyfat.

Pretty sure most guys measure the “waste” below the belly. Throw that tape around the belly button and its a entirely diff story.

Everyone has ab muscles though. It's not like you need to be a rare specimen to get them. Nor do you need juice to get them either.
Want to look like mr olympia? Use juice.
Want defined hard abs? Get as lean as possible and train your abs 5-6 days a week. heavy cable crunches, leg raises, sit ups etc.
There's really no secret to abs besides training them and having almost no body fat.

I never had abs until i started going on a calorie deficit diet + hitting the gym at age 31.
In the beginning i did just the diet without the ab work, and i ended up with a flat stomach.
Then i hit my abs directly and hard, and suddenly i had abs.
It's not that hard to get.

I'm a manlet at 5'9", so yeah it's normal for me. The heaviest I've been is 175lbs. I like to stay around the 160lb range. I like to have a lean, athletic body.

You are coping so hard right now. I'm 6'2" and my waist is 32". 32" is a healthy waist size for a man with even an above avg frame size. It's not just "genetics" and in my case its not OJ. Lift heavy chit occasionally and mind your diet and you can have abs. I'm 35 y/o btw

I'm going to make this a separate thread where people attempt to post childhood and hs photos.

i like having the advantage of having a couple hundred pounds lean body mass and being able to eat 5000 calories a day and 750g carbs and not gain weight, if i decide to have a day of eating bad food i just make sure my protein is high and keep calories at about 4,000 and i still lose weight.

1000 calories is a lot for me since I'm cutting on 2200, and I was definitely still hungry compared to eating 500 cals of chicken/rice. But everything in moderation is the right way to go about things. Also LOL at people who fast. I love food too much and rather discipline myself that way. Learning to cook chicken has also helped a lot from eating fast food. I can have perfectly cooked chicken in 20 minutes

Think the only downside is how do you calculate something like Spaghetti or Stroganoff

Genetics is a major factor, not a cope because I am a smaller lean guy so I can lean out quickly but it's very tough for me to put mass on. Also genetics....and don't forget genetics.

32" waist is a good size for a man. 35" should be the max for big framed guys. Regardless whether or not someone is 'pre disposed' for low bodyfat allowing a large amount of fat to accumulate on your stomach is a choice.

The simple truth is there are a few techniques to remain lean. All boils down to managing daily caloric intake.
For the day your going to splurge:
-Fasting/skipping breakfast to allow an extra 500-800 calories later on.
-Intense cardio session.
-Intense weight session.
-Eat 'clean' the rest of your meals. Or even cleaner then usual.

For a lifestyle:
-Maintain leanness by never 'letting yourself go'.
-Don't have too many unhealthy meals per week.
-If you start slipping up your workout intensity to burn more calories.

You really don't even have to be that dedicated to be in the 12-15% body fat range.

I couldn't see my abs until I trained BJJ seriously. Chit is an ab work out and burns a TON of calories. (800 or more an hour for big guys... Less for me).

And calorie counting of course. There's nothing like needing to weigh in for a fight to make you take diet seriously.

Surely does matter. My brother is about 47, 6'1 and wears 34 X 32 IIRC.

Eats way more than me and a lot of soda and sweets. He is pretty physically active, but I know how he eats and think it has to be a little bit of a lucky draw. E.g. Me: one and half enchiladas and some salad vs. Him: six enchiladas and some salad. And I'm usually having coffee for breakfast while he is making French toast, pancakes, biscuits w/sausage, etc.

This is not a new thing- him tending to stay lean and me being chubby or worse. So unfair 'cause being stocky was NBD for guys and hell for girls.

Now I'm old and it is suddenly okay for girls to be "thick". SMH
